Chapter Begins:

Kai was very interested in Sigel.

He saw her pausing, sensed her internal struggle, and noticed her broken breath. His action of killing Rogan, without the other guy even getting a chance to retaliate, must have traumatized her a lot.

But the reason for Kai's interest in her wasn't her being a Top-Class 8th floor Contestant.

Kai's slitted hazel eyes, surrounded by the purple demonic rings, shimmered as he sensed the Mana rippling in her surroundings. This Mana differed quite a much from the general Mana he had sensed around Item-M, Red Sun, and other in-world Characters.

It had a certain rule about it, various runes, contorted lines and diagrams, and ethereal shapes flicking in and out of existence.

But this also wasn't the entire reason for Kai's interest in her.

How could a Lead Protector even exist in the Harry Potter Random World, when he had already taken care of this little problem?

One must not forget that by reincarnating as Darcie Malfoy, whoever she interacted with or would interact with, would not have a Protector. Kai had already confirmed it several times.

But his theory met its first challenge when Black jumped to the God of High School Random World.

Kai would have even discarded it as a mere fluke if Sigel had been a mere Protector of some random character. But, no! She was the fucking Lead Protector of Hermione Granger herself, a major Side Character.

So, yes, Kai was interested in her. But…

… this also wasn't the entire reason.

Kai opened his right palm within his yellow sleeves.

There was a compass sitting over there…

Jack Sparrow's Compass!

Gone were the days when Kai had to rely on others to use it. Gone were the days when he cursed his Luck for every little ill encounter. Gone were the days when he didn't feel lucky.

Since his coming back from the Verse Fusion Random World, and especially after his Luck rising to 56, an incredibly strong desire had been bubbling in Kai's heart.

It oozed into his thoughts, forcing a part of Ad Infinitum to suppress it.

It was the desire to gain Mana.

Unlimited Mana!

So, Kai had been looking for a way to properly use the Compass as the Item's range was only one Celestial Body.

It was then that Item-M had suggested using the Night of Truce as a cover.

With hundreds of Contestants, there must be something on them, or in their experiences which they must have encountered in the various Random Worlds, which the Compass could pick up as a hint.

Moreover, Kai had already used the Compass before in their presence. But the needle kept rotating without pointing in any particular direction.

Hence came the Night of Truce.

With Item-M's intelligence-gathering skills and her Master Ability, it didn't take much for the White Serpent Pirates to locate almost all Contestants within the Harry Potter World.

Moreover, almost all Contestants here had already seen him killing Rogan.

Now, Kai didn't fear any Quasi Cypher Pol level organization, because he had the Purple King backing him up. But he also didn't want a Temple to cause deviations in his plan. Not to mention, this world wasn't supposed to have an Anomaly… so there was no reason for the Supreme Protector to show up at all.

Then there was the topic of Merlin, Ekrizdis, and the Order of the Immortal Lotus. Things that were just too grand even among the various Harry Potter Random Worlds across the Multiverse.

It wouldn't be long before events started to take more public and hideous turns. Kai didn't want the Contestants of the 4th or 5th Set, or the Temples, to know about it before he figured it out on his own.

Once the Contestants, who were here only for a few months, went back and spread all this information, there were good chances of interference at an incomprehensible scale.

Now, Kai couldn't have that.

And, so, they all must die… no?

Kai looked at the Compass and the same desire bubbled up inside him like a volcanic eruption for the second time.

The most challenging aspect of using the Compass now was the requirement of having a Timeline's Divine Providence.

But, as Kai had become the Supreme Protector of Darcie Malfoy, who already enjoyed such a privilege in this Timeline, it was as good as him also having the Divine Providence.

A gust of wind slapped against Lilith, making the robe play with it like a little girl.

Under his breath, Kai muttered. "Rose of the Winds…"

Item: The Compass of Desire (Named Item)

Grade: Uncommon

Specification: An unusual navigational instrument most notably used by Captain Jack Sparrow, which he bartered from the voodoo mystic Tia Dalma and later inherited from his captain on the Wicked Wench.

Its domed cover is made from pure lapis lazuli. The inside lid is detailed with a map of the heavens, the central shadow vane makes the compass work as a sundial, and the compass disk itself is sliced from a walrus's tusk.

Requirement:

 1. Luck >50

 2. At least 1 Timeline's Divine Providence

 3. Absolute loyalty toward the Compass

Attributes:

 1. The Compass' Will is connected with the user's Will

 2. Reach: 1 Celestial Body (regardless of size)

 3. The Compass is semi-sapient, and it is quite temperamental

Skill: Rose of the Winds

Skill's Effect:

 1. Mana Consumption: 350 MP

 2. Direct the owner to whatever he/she wants most at the moment

 3. Even if the desire might be fatal to the owner himself, the Skill works as intended

 4. 1 Charge of the Skill will last for 3 hours

Skill: If you don't know what you want, then how should I know?

Skill's Effect:

 1. Mana Consumption: 200 MP

 2. With the owner's incapability of projecting a specific desire, the Compass loses efficacy

 3. Point to whatever it thinks the owner wants the most at the moment

 4. Does not consider the desire's potential threat or usefulness

Skill: Despicable Conspirator

Skill's Effect:

 1. The Compass will always conspire to direct all users' desires in favor of the original owner

 2. The Compass will always conspire to go back to the original owner

Note: For those who know how to use it, the Compass is the Key to Everything

With Kai's hoard of 410 MP, he could easily afford such a massive consumption. It did give him a dizzy mind, though, which, of course, got suppressed by Ad Infinitum.

The needle spun furiously as if it was prodding Kai's desires, becoming one with them. A formless power rippled across the entire World, taking over the hidden corners and unknown grounds as if they didn't matter to the Compass.

Nothing could hide from the Compass' eyes.

Nothing was out of the Compass' reach.

The only thing that mattered to the Compass was Kai's desire, and it would do anything to make sure he got what he wanted.

Slowly, but surely, the needle began losing its momentum.

And when it stopped, it pointed in one direction, toward one person.

Sigel, the Lead Protector!

Kai smiled under his yellow hood, feeling quite lucky. Yes, he was very very interested in her.

Maybe… Just maybe… he would keep her for a little bit longer.

Just as the last Contestant entered the Mirror Dimension, with a thought, a chair materialized next to Kai's throne.

At the same time, thousands of runic papers lifted, covering the entire Mirror Dimension from outside.

Kai snapped his fingers, initiating the Lesser Bounded Field.

Standing still, Tina's heart gave out, her blue eyes shining purple, recognizing the runes.

"Come here, child," the Supreme Protector said, smiling. "You don't want to get hurt, no?"

One of the greatest taboos of the Primordial Tower was about to get broken, utterly on the whim of a single Contestant.
