Over the following year, I dedicated myself to utilizing Luxion's resources to restructure the Barony of Bartfort.
The task was quite delightful, it feels like one of those kingdom making games... But in reality.
I create connections with the merchants, and increase the economy of the estate with my father as the investor myself.
However I was a little hesitant because I might overshadow my brother too much, considering he will be the future successor.
So, ultimately I just limited my involvement to just subtly inducing father to follow my idea.
During that time, I also focused on developing my land extensively, ensuring its livability with the addition of several 'introverted' parks...
Which is to say just a few natural spots with peaceful environment.
I also drew inspiration from the original nameless man' ideas, integrating them into my own Ideals.
The prospect of having a hot spring on my land was real attractive... So, I hope nobody accuse me of being shameless too much.
Like I had anticipated, I was swiftly appointed as a quaxi Baron and will be promoted to a Proper Baron after graduation, citing my land ownership as the rationale.
Though I anticipated that, the land was too small for the actual reason. Ultimately recalling the little information I have, it was not difficult to deduce that roland was involved.
I've read on reddit that the bartforts were one of the founding house of the kingdom, a fact the bastard undoubtedly knew well.
Judging from all these little informations, the only logical conclusion as to why the original nameless man had climbed the ladder that fast was due to the involvement of him from the start.
Following that logic it would not be weird if olivia' predecessor were also part of that founder.
Regrettably, because I only have the knowledge of the nameless man and my hazy memory, I can not confirm all of my suspicion.
On that note I read the novel when I was 10 Years old up to volume 7.... skipping volume 6.
I unfortunately had a bullet stuck on my liver from a friend when I was 13 and, its been almost a year since my transmigration.
Naturally my knowlege in regards to the novel is pretty hazy.
"Haaa...."
I unconsciously released a sigh, a subtle expression of disappointment slipping from my lips.
"Don't worry too much, You'll found a great wife... I hope."
My big brother Nick offered comfort, his hand gently patting my back in a gesture of sympathy.
The reason he does this is because I played the role where I don't like to be in the advance class.
Naturally I don't hate it of course. It was just a deliberate act for his sympathy, I hope in this way, I gave off the idea that we are similar as brothers.
Along the way, I engage in small talk with him, extracting information of the academy and its surrounding, as the novel had left much of the details out.
All the while my big sister jenna complain about random things, she had contineously complain about the most random of things from a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, it seems that she disliked me more than the original protagonist because I notify my mother luce, about her plan to purchase a slave.
Although unfortunate, Its for her future.
Very quickly, a women like her would be highly valued... Although her character development from the lover's death was cut...
Sincerely, I hope she can be a better and more ladylike compared to her novel counterpart.
--------
After a few hours of travel we reach the harbour of the capital and finally the academy.
As cliche as it sound there were lots of people with RGB hair inside the campus.
"Why are you looking around like it's the first time you've been to the capital?" My dear sister asked as we walked off, hiding a smug with her hand.
I stare at her blankly.
"Indeed," While I attempted to humour her slightly with a gentle smile.
A Sudden, deliberate collision jolted my shoulder, accompanied by the unmistakable fragrance of a potent perfume favoured by demihumans, lingering in the air.
"Move out the way!" The person shout at me in a pompous tone.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" My brother defended.
"Who do you think you are to shout at me?" The voice, was still as annoying like the first time.
I maintained a composed demeanor as I turned to face the source of the unexpected disturbance, a silent gesture of reciprocity.
Behind me, he stood. A beastman with vertical slit eyes and cat like ears, their sneer betraying a hint of disdain.
"Leon! Nicks! Lets just go!" My sister asked in a fluster as he pulled nicks' sleeve.
"Yeah, just G—"
Before he could finish, I eagerly extended my hand for a high five, fully anticipating his reciprocation.
However, much to my surprise, he recoiled like a deflated balloon as he received the unrestrained palm in his face, leaving me hanging like a fool.
—Gasp
I could heard a whole lot of people suprised by the commotion, but I could really care less.
"L—Leon what the hell do you think you are doing!" My sister shouted again.
Funny, I never expected her to react like this, judging from the novel.
Ignoring my flustered siblings, I walked leisurely towards the little cat and crouch down to his level.
Grabbing his crusty, unpleasant hair with my gloved left hand, I yanked him up to my face.
"Hey, who do you think you are?"
The guy was bleeding from his nose and the corner of his mouth, with a hint of swelling emanating from the mark of my palm.
Instead of the man, a woman with a shrill, annoying voice interjected, "What the hell do you think you're doing to Jack?!"
As I searched for the voice, I noticed that quite a crowd had gathered around us.
Some of them... mostly the girls murmured about my conduct.
Releasing the fluff ball from my grasp, I fixed my gaze on the woman, she was likely in her third year, and clearly displeased with my actions.
She was... nothing noteworthy, both appearance... and in appearance.
At most she was average, most likely from a baron household.
Without breaking the eye contact, I stood up, struggling to find the right words.
The whole situation was so ridiculous, I was short on vocabulary to express how cringe I was.
"Keep your pets on a leash." I finally manage to speak.
— "Wha– How dare he says that to a lady..."
— "He's probably a country bumpkin."
Amidst a barrage of insults, seemingly unable to quell her anger, the girl in question erupted into a shout.
"How dare you?!!!"
"Please, you can do absolutely nothing to me." With a barely stifled snort, I muttered, "Gonna cry?"
— "Insolent man."
— "Mannerless."
Just as the girls on the sidelines were poised to pounce on me. Suddenly, a commanding, brazen voice, sliced through the crowd, parting them as though they were commanded by Moses to reveal the lady.
The lady was...
* * *
My first impression of him was "Fascinating.
He stood there, exuding an authoritarian presence that commanded attention, despite his unassuming appearance.
His tangled mass of hair cascaded softly across his forehead, trimmed neatly on the sides, partially obscuring his piercing gaze.
Those eyes, sharp and penetrating, seemed to gaze as if they could torn through the soul, yet they remained inscrutable, betraying no emotion.
He has a heavy dark circles under his eyes, showing how much he's been through.
But even though he looked tired, you could see his fierce stubbornness through his sharp eyes, like a fire that won't go out no matter what.
The man spoke in a calm, masculine voice, each word carrying an inherent authority that made his utterances heavier than it actually should.
Initially, I had intended to simply pass by the newcomers instead of lingering after I went out, but from the moment the man appeared, he proved to be truly captivating with his brazen charisma.
From my vantage point, I observed a beastman provoking him, while another boy, presumably his brother, bristled with anger on his behalf.
What began as a verbal altercation swiftly escalated into a physical confrontation between the boy and the beastmen.
Ultimately, I couldn't help but get involved with him.
"Is that something a gentleman should say to a lady?" I shouted to draw his attention.
As soon as my voice echoed through the crowd, they obediently parted, revealing their herd mentality.
It's always refreshing to encounter individuals who refuse to be swept along by the currents of conformity, making him that much more interesting... Alas he is also a coward.
Just as my contemplation wandered into whether he was truly a man of pride or merely someone strong against those beneath him and weak against those above, he offered a response.
"Certainely, I may be a gentleman and thus shouldn't do that to a lady, Yes? So I should respect every lady?"
"Indeed."
Just as we start our argument, our surrounding and everyone around became infinitely quite, as if they are suddenly robbed of their ability to speak.
While I understand the fear that might stem from involving someone from the house of a count, I find the mentality of the strong preying on the weak utterly detestable, if so, just be quite from the very beginning.
In stark contrast to everyone else's reactions, the boy—or rather, the man—betrayed no agitation.
While his sibling paled to the point of resembling death, he sported a sardonic smile, seemingly masking his anger.
"You are right, my LADY!..." He emphasized my lady. Perhaps in sarcasm.
He continued, "I Should!... and I Do!... Respect Every!... Lady... But I can not treat bitches in similar manner."
The girl, assuming I was on her side as a fellow woman, rebuked the man who had trempled all over her with a hint of entitlement and anger, "How dare you speak against a member of the esteemed Roseblade house."
I struggled to stifle a derisive snort. In the first place, I could never understand having a lovers like some type of sweet collection like her.
Truthfully speaking, a woman like her, who have slave as a lover even while having a lovely fiance or husband, disgust me.
Fleetingly, I felt that the man had sense my sentiments, it was just a passing fancy. But, I strongly felt that way.
The man, who had lost interest in her, cast a nonchalant glance her way before uttering, "Perhaps you could find some purpose in tending to him."
He gestured his eye to the unfortunate fellow who had crumpled under the weight of his punishing blow.
As his expression twisted with disdain, he averted his gaze and swept the surrounding crowds until it landed on me again, appearing as if he suddenly remember I was ever there.
With a distorted smile, he inclined his head ever so slightly, "If you'll excuse me."
Though couched as a plea, the underlying tone left me no choice but to acquiesce to his command.
Without gracing anyone, even his siblings with a single glance he turn around and promptly left the place.
