''She wanted to go alone. She said she would put a record on my name if I dare to go with them.'' The commander said and scoffed.

''If anything happens to Avery, I will not let you off so easily.''

''Are you threatening me, Prosecutor Oak? We are all superior in our departments, don't think you are the only one who has links and connections.'' The commander said arrogantly.

''Really?'' Prosecutor Oak stopped when his phone started ringing. He took it out and answered the call from Avery.

''Avery, where are you?''

''Help me, Prosecutor Oak!'' Avery's anxious voice came from the other side of the phone.

''Where are you?'' Prosecutor Oak asked as he ran into the forest.

''Commander, this is risky. Putting the blame on Detective Sandas is going to make this case suspicious. She has no reason to kill the suspect.'' The other agent said anxiously.

''Shut up and let's go.'' The commander said and turned to the others. ''Wait here… no, call for backup. Inform the district police quarters that Detective Sanders has disappeared with the criminal.'' He said before walking towards the forest.

The main stood up from Fiona's body and walked closer to Avery. Avery was laying on her back with blood oozing from her head after she hit her head on the rock.

''Why don't you give it up already, Detective?'' The man said and sneered. He squatted in front of Avery and opened her right palm.

''What? Who are you? Who sent you?'' Avery asked as she tried to move her hand.

''It doesn't matter who sent me. What matters is that you are going to be blamed for what happened today. That dagger already has your fingerprints and blood on it.'' The mysterious man laughed and looked at the phone ringing by Avery's side.

''Your boyfriend is going to be so heartbroken when he finds you half dead.'' He stood up and kicked the phone aside.

Avery chuckled. ''I think I know who sent you. The Minister, right? Well, tell him this. I've transferred all the money into another account and closed the other ones. If anything happens to me, he will loss all that $50 billion. Oh, right! And that $ 5.1 billion dollar, tell him he won't be seeing that either.'' Avery said smugly. Even though she was mad scared, she still didn't want to give in that easily.

''For someone whose life is about to hit rock bottom, you sure talk a lot.'' The man said and removed a teaser from his pocket.

''Do you know what will happen once this teaser makes you unconscious? If that prosecutor boyfriend of yours doesn't arrive early, you won't survive. Your name will go down in history as the detective who killed a suspect because they were accomplices who stole money from the government.''

''Avery…'' Prosecutor Oak started calling and Avery heard him.

''See? Prosecutor Oak is coming.'' Avery said weakly. She was trying her best not to fall asleep.

''Shit!'' The man turned to run and Avery tried to hold him back. He lifted his leg and stepped on Avery's stomach and she cried out.

The man saw Kai from a distance and cussed. He turned and ran away.

''Avery… Avery, can you hear me?'' Kai looked around and saw Avery from a distance. He ran over.

Prosecutor Oak took out his phone to call the ambulance. He pulled Avery's body closer and she opened her eyes. ''Avery, stay with me.''

''Fi… Fiona… Fiona is in danger…'' Avery said before fainting.

''Avery!'' Prosecutor Oak picked her up and ran hastily outside the forest.

The mysterious man stood at the top of a tree, watching them. He took his phone and made a call.

''That detective got away. She said she has the money in a secret account. I couldn't take her down with that information.''

''I will handle it.'' The commander said and hung up. He was standing in front of Fiona's body. He squatted and put his finger at her nose.

''Is she breathing?'' The other agent asked.

''She is good as dead.'' The commander said and stood up. He went over to the side and picked up the dagger used in stabbing Fiona. He was already wearing gloves, and had a white plastic bag with him. He put the dagger inside and turned to the other agent.

''Your story is going to be the same as mine. Detective Sanders insisted that we let the criminal to ease herself and we let her. We only came here when we didn't see them for a while and this is what we found. Is that clear?'' He gave the agent a stern look.

''Yes… yes, commander.'' The agent nodded his head. They turned when they heard the sound of the ambulance.

The paramedics came running down and saw them.

''Over here…'' The commander said, raising his hand.

BREAKING NEWS…

''The van transporting the suspect of the burglary case involving the Minister has met with an accident. It was reported that the detective who followed the van, Detective Avery Sandas took the suspect into the forest where they were both attacked by an unknown man. But the special agents whom were with them found the weapon and it has Detective Sandas fingerprints on it which makes the entire case even more mysterious.''

''Our team is waiting to see if Detective Sanders gets out of danger, so that she can be questioned. Right now, the police department is holding her and waiting to interrogate her since she is the only witness and allegedly, the one who attacked the suspect to keep her shut.''

Hans Island.

Suleiman stood up and the book in his hand fell down after he watched the news from the TV.

''Sen… senior…'' Suleiman broke down and one of the officers held him from falling.

''Is Detective Sandas dead?''

''Hey!'' Suleiman shouted at the officer who said that.

Chief Johnson walked out of his office and looked at the TV. Everyone in the office was quite.

''Avery is alive. She is undergoing surgery but she will be fine.'' Chief Johnson said confident.

'She has to be! I'm going over to the hospital first.'' Mariah said as she walked out of her office.

Hope Hospital.

Prosecutor Oak was sitting on the bench in front of the surgery room when Mariah arrived.

''How is Avery?'' Mariah asked.

''They are currently in the surgery room. Both Avery and the suspect.''

''I told you this was dangerous. I warned you Prosecutor Oak, but you insisted on getting Avery involved. Do you even know the kind of trouble she is in now because of this case?'' Mariah asked angrily.

''What trouble is she in?'' Kai asked.

''The district chief police just received a letter from the commissioner. Avery has two options. To either go on suspension or be transferred to Korn local area for traffic management… the worst case, she goes to jail.''

''What?''

''Apart from that, the minister's secretary released a statement saying that Avery insisted on going with the suspect because she is an accomplice of the suspect and wanted to get rid of the suspect so that she won't be discovered. They are using reporters to spread bad rumors about Avery while she is in there fighting for her life.'' Mariah said and cussed.

''If only she had listened to me.'' She added. ''What did the doctors say? How did Avery get hurt?''

''Avery hit her head on a rock and got hurt. The killer also stepped on her rips, breaking a few in the process. She is undergoing surgery.'' Kai explained.

''What about the suspect?''

''She lost a lot of blood. The doctors said they will try their best but we should be prepared for anything.''

''If something happens to that woman, Avery will be framed for murdering her. Avery's life will be over because only the woman's statement can save her.'' Mariah sat on the bench and sighed.

''Nothing will happen to Avery.'' Kai said confidently. ''I will make sure of it.''

Meanwhile in the surgery room….

''We are losing her. Her pulse is suddenly going down.'' Dr. Ozge said.

''She is going into cardiac arrest… hurry, connect the oxygen to her brain immediately.'' Dr. Ozge commanded.

Avery's chest heaved up and down as she struggled on the operation bed.

The other doctor performing the surgery on Fiona turned to the doctor operating on Avery. 'The one who got hurt badly is holding on well…''

''The detective sustained internal injuries.'' Avery's doctor commented.

Avery found herself in a dreamlike world. She was walking in the midst of flowers. Avery stopped when she saw a familiar face.

''Elder sister…'' Avery called as she walked towards the lady.

''Avery, what are you doing here? Why are you here?'' The lady asked. She was in a white gown tendering to flowers when she saw Avery.

''This place is beautiful. I didn't know such a place existed.''

''She doesn't belong here. You should let her go, Anita.'' An older woman spoke as she walked towards them.

''Oh, grandma Chon?'' Avery recognized the older lady.

''Child, what are you doing here? You shouldn't be here.''

''No! I don't want to go. I want to stay here with elder sister. This place is peaceful and beautiful.''
