MHA Gamer Fanfic: False Icarus

Marcus King was a nobody, a fat nerd who got lucky enough to survive the initial fallout of the world, but when he is suddenly infected, death greets him swiftly. Given a second chance in the world of My Hero Academia, he will make himself worth something, or at least try. The timid, antisocial, narcissistic old Marcus will be gone. Souta Sasaki is now his name, and with supportive parents, friends he can count on, and even the possibility of finally getting a girlfriend, he has hope to achieve his dreams. No matter if a century old villain, a psychopath who can decay anything, bioengineered creatures made of nightmares, a germaphobe who wants to rid the world of Quirks, or even if a false God decide to stand in his way; he will be a hero no matter what. Also, with the power similar to The Gamer, it just might be possible. . . . . . [!Warning! MC is a good guy and will be a hero, no harem ] I own nothing except my main character. P.S. the title has meaning so it won't be changing.

A Through Observation 2

{Instinct is a rather complex attribute. It is a stat that makes decisions in battle that could take longer, only take seconds or even less than a second in the later stages. It is the ability to experience things once in combat and understand how fast said attacks travel and how hard they can hit. It grants the Player the ability to react to stimuli quickly and formulate counter attacks without the need for planning. Also, the attribute makes mind attacks harder to target you, as with this attribute your entire body works as one brain with one goal.}

The demonstration of his clone walking down a dark alley in the middle of a shoot out, dodging bullets before they were even shot, moving out the way of Quirks firing off, and moving fluidity through swift punches and precise kicks to skulls to put them down, assuring Souta he must have made the right choice.

He did however, wish for a more thorough explanation but again, more information would not necessarily do much.

He was sure the system gave him the important bits, since it had no personality to it, and just gave him the information its programming was meant to give.

-Instinct- was possibly another attribute he would have to focus on, but again without a feel for it himself in combat then he was only going to speculate.

The latter thought had him freeze up, his mind catching up with his past day's decision on the attributes.

He was scared of pain, the worst he probably ever had was a sprained wrist and a bad back from sitting in his gaming chair too long. With this set up, 'class' as he was officially calling it, he would have to be in the thick of things duking it out with his fists.

He could maybe go for a weapon, but he had noticed very few Heroes and Villains did so.

Japan's gun laws were outrageously strict, which was a good thing. Fights between anyone would be at most be fists, Quirks, and the occasional dagger or so. Firearms were rare, and even then most people who got in the vicinity of them would know how to deal with or avoid them.

Souta exhaled heavily, knowing that he was pathetic really, talking up a big game, but had yet to even try it out. Souta never once had been in a fight, verbal arguments sure, but because in his old life he was vastly overweight and standing at 6'4 no one particularly wanted to try him.

A blessing or a curse, he was not sure, but there was no backing out.

He would need to learn to fight, he would need to learn to go through pain, and he would need to learn combat skills.

Martial Arts, Souta knew next to nothing except the few times in anime or manga, but he could infer he would need a lot of discipline and a drive for hard work to learn them. Two things he sorely lacked for now, but he was not going to give up, not until he at least gave it his all.

With an exhale, his thoughts left him, his mind focusing back as he selected -Feats-. It was once again self explanatory, any significant effect he had on the world or himself would reward him with AP, EXP, skills, abilities, or even buffs.

He was sure to do so, since he was not going to sit back and watch the carnage unfold, and also he would need everything he could get for what he had feared since the day he had been reborn.

What happens after All Might and All for One fight?

What kind of big bad steps up to the plate in his steed?

Would All for One even be done, was it all just part of his plan?

Souta was afraid, his cowardly ways still with him and rooted in his bones, and it was a no brainer he had to get rid of them eventually. There was little choice, because his dream to die for something great and give meaning to his life demanded he did so.

Shaking his head to clear his darkening thoughts, Souta opted to continue going through the list of things the System could offer. Next were -Abilities-, and once again they were quite self explanatory, it being a Gamer System and all.

They would be 'super moves' he can create and replicate almost perfectly, just like how a character can in a videogame. The damage he dealt would not change unless he had negative affects on him or his enemy had a means to mitigate it, though there were also begrudgingly cooldowns to said abilities.

All of the previous of course went into his notes, and with that finished, he had only one thing left to go through.

-System Functions- was clicked, the first thing that appeared was another list of all the things available.

[

-Status Sheet

-Map

-Notepad

-Camera

-Observe

-Simulation

]

A quick click, typing out a summary of what was given, Souta properly went down the list, making doubly sure not to miss anything. Even then, his eyes occasionally wondered back to the last option, interest piqued.

Finally, he got done with everything else, the -Simulation- summary being read in the same robotic voice he had heard before.

{-Simulation- allows the Player to Simulate previous battles and or use information from -Observe- to create them. Three uses are allowed a week, and the -Simulation- cannot recreate new or make judgments on opponents fighting styles, emotions, or choices.}

Truly, the -Gamer System- was overpowered, and if one looked at it from the stand point of the My Hero Academia world, it was countless useful Quirks bundled into one package.

The sky was the limit, and Souta nodded firmly as he did a once over of the list and also the previous one. Having gone through everything, he now had his chess pieces, next was to play the game.

"Time to g-"

However, as he clicked on 'End Tutorial', a warning suddenly appeared, cutting of Souta and making his heart sink as he read it slowly.

{Warning to the Player. The -Gamer System- is a Quirk, and can be affected by Quirk altering abilities.}

The sentence alone made Souta frown deeper than hell, eyes closing as he ran through so many thoughts at once, countless questions surfacing at any chance they got.

Could his Quirk could be erased by Eraser Head, or just aspects of it, it was technically a mutation, transformation, and emitter all balled up into one?

Could One for All potentially supercharge the system and make it better, was it worth trying to get? Can All for One take his Quirk away?

Those three particular queries had Souta slightly sweating, unsure if going forth with his previous plans were going to work. If All for One acquired his Quirk, the world was doomed, more so than if the villain had somehow gotten All Might's Quirk One for All.

Imagine, a man already hellbent on world domination and destruction, possessing literally unlimited potential; strength orientated at that.

With a simple flick of his finger, mountains could crumble, with a wave of his hand cities could shatter, and if he so wanted to: there could be no more Earth.

All for One, though he did not know, had made himself a powerful enemy. Souta who would stop him with everything he had, because he never wanted to experience what he had in those six months before his death ever again.

A wasteland, countless dead, no order, and bloodshed at every corner.

It was a reminder of what All for One could cause if left alive, and even if he had to shed his moniker as a hero, and even if they were just empty words from a boastful nobody like Souta; He would kill him if he had too.

All for One…Souta clenched his fists, brows furrowing in both fear and anticipation.

He promptly closed the Tutorial, returning back to his room, time seemingly had been frozen during it.

Still a little overwhelmed by everything, he just sat on the edge of his small bed, eyes distant as he soaked everything in from the last few minutes.

Next, Souta smiled slightly, speaking the sentence he never got to finish before.

"Time to grind."

[A/N:

Hello readers, hopefully you are enjoying the story so far.

Firstly, don't worry about the pace and countless chapters before UA, at most it will be two or three more chapters before we get there; the next chapters covering a decade or so.

Secondly, I apologize for only two chapters, I try to stay six chapters ahead which I am, but I realized a huge plot hole and need to rewrite certain points of the story to fix it.

Lastly, after the sports festival or maybe the internship canon will have officially gone to shit, and the title 'False Icarus' will finally make sense. I look forward to exploring more of the world, the darkness of it, and also other characters and how they will change. Since it will be different from canon, don't expect some characters to act exactly like their main storyline counter parts, just a warning.

Alright, that's all for now. PenguinMage out.]
