But he had to admit that Derek's current learning speed shocked him, he expected Derek to even think about evolving in about two years but from the brat's speed, it wouldn't be long before it happened.

Like a bottle, it has both advantages and disadvantages, Derek's soul was more prominent than normal so it would take longer to fill, which means he would be slow to advance, the smaller the bottle the easier it to fill but Derek's was bigger which meant while it will take longer, his capabilities would be much better.
