Chapter 10: A dragon

We reached the area where the Voice directed us towards, but I was unable to see anything besides a cluster of rocks surrounded by a cluster of trees.

'I'm glad you were able to make it here safely,' the Voice echoed confidently.

"Nice to meet you uhh... Ma'am? Miss. Rocks? Arthur once again embarassed himself.

'I'm not a rock, nor a cluster of them. There is a crevice between the back of the adjacent rocks. That's where I'll be,' the Voice chuckled.

I facepalmed myself with a long sight. "Sometimes, you are really disapointing me Arthur..."

"Just shut up already!" He shouted.

Looking around, I managed to spot the small gap, about the width of an adult, between two of the larger rocks that were leaning against each other.

The slight breeze coming out from the crevice told me I had found what I was looking for. If it weren't for the Voice directing me to this exact location, I would never have even noticed the small fissure.

'Children. Go on and enter through the crevice, but strengthen yourself with mana before you do.'

Without a second's hesitation, I slipped in through the gap easily while willing the mana to strengthen my body.

I had expected a platform to step on but instead, I immediately plummeted down the dark hole. The voice had failed to warn me that I was going to be doing a vertical fall.

'I guess that was why she mentioned using mana to me' was the thought that ran through my head as I descended, I spinned in the air to rebalance myself and landed safely on my legs.

Rubbing the dust out of my clothes looking cool, I slowly supported myself up forgeting Arthur who was behind me as he fell on top of me. 

*Boom*

"Ouch man, it hurts. Did you gain weight Arthur?" I asked as he was on top of my stomach.

"Hehe sorry dude, its training you know" He chuckled.

"Agh, alright" I said rubbing my head and standing up.

"We finally meet children." The voice was now stronger and deeper.

Looking up I felt a little bit scared but safe since my brother was with me here.

"W-what are you...!" x2 We both asked.

The evil being in front of us introduced itself as Sylvia, she seemed to be a nice person she even gave us delecious mana fruits.

We had a long conversation and we managed to have some informations such as our actual location. This place is a narrow zone that is between the Beast Glades and the Forest of Elshire.

"It'll take some time for me to open a dimentional rift strong enough to transport both of you home." She explained to us.

And so we stayed with Sylvia for two mounth since she decided to help us reach our home by creating a portal for us. During these two mounths we talked with her a lot and made a strong bond with her, after all she was like a real mother for us. She took care of us and fed us.

She had some mysterious powers, by which she checked and reassured us that out parents were safe.

She even teached us a better way to gather mana, and with the help of the concentrated mana in this place I even managed to breaktrought the light red stage.

The technique she teached us consisted of absorbing mana while we are making movements. Although we would be spending mana faster than we can absorb mana, we will be able to prolong the usage of our mana.

Everything was going very well, enjoying our days, with Sylvia. But what we failed to notice was the big wound on her chest that was getting worse day after day, and it was only later that we learnt that she was actualy sacrificing her life to create the teleportation gate for us.

When she was at a dangerous state where she could no more hide her true form, she finaly revealed her real self, a majestic white dragon with weird golden runes all over her body.

"Sylvia... You are a dragon?" I asked her.

"Yes." She responded. "But we dont have time to explain. Now that my veil is gone they will be coming soon for us." She continued.

"Who is coming for us Sylvia?" Art asked

She ignored his question, and instead of answering she passed to each one of us a weird multicolored egg and a feather from her body.

"Both of you, wrap these eggs with this feather in order to conceal its aura..." We didn't understand what was going on but she just continued. "And please bear with me just one more time."

Once she said that, her snoot gently brushed against my chest when she did that the same golden rune she has on her body appeared on me too and the pain was so great that I just couldn't stop sceaming.

"AHHHHHGHHGH!" x2 Both me and Art felt the pain since she did the same procedure with him too.

"With time things will reveal themselve to you, now I will open the gate." She said.

Just then the roof of the cave started collapsing ans Sylvia protected us using her own body, then a monster similar to her previous form came from the hole, floating.

"Lady Sylvia, stop your stubborness and hand them over now. He might even heal you if you submit." The monster stated

Suddently time stopped completly, everything but me Arthur and Sylvia who were surrounded by a golden sphere, "Kids jump in the portal I made, I didn't have enough time to make one that would lead you directly to your home but this one should send you somewhere near a civilisation."

"What do you mean leave! That monster is looking for you and we cant just leave you here alone and with such an injury Sylvia!" I shouted.

"Its evident that he wants to harm you, and you even sacrificed your live to help us go home, how can we leave you like this." Art cried too.

"I cant Arthur, Melidoas so please leave while you can." She was sad too, and it was visible in her voice, then she continued. "I still have one selfish request kids, can you please call me grandma just this once?"

Tears started flowing my face without I even realised it as I spoke with a broken voice. "No... Please come with us. Everything is frozen now you can come with us... Please!" It is the first time in my life I was this desperate, and I hate this feeling.

She closed her eyes and said. "You know I can't Meliodas. Now, farewell, Arthur and Meliodas." She pushed us using her wings inside the portal.

"Nooo! Grandma!" x2 The last thing I saw was Sylvia smiling face after we finally called her grandma.
