Chapter 9: What is that voice?

I finally woke up, I think I lost consciousness when I was falling, due to the impact of the magic spell. Looking around me I saw Art on the ground still unconscious. I rushed to him to check if he was alright.

"He's breathing so everything is good." I was reassured.

I lifted my chin up to see a huge cliff as big as a moutain, I had lo lift my head in a 95° to see the top.

"W-we... survived that...?"

How did we not get any injuries it's weird. If it was only me I would've accepted it because of my demon body, but even Arthur?

After a few minutes of waiting Art to wake up, he ended up by opening his eyes finally.

"Welcome back among us." I joked.

"W-what happened?" He was still dizzy and not realising what actualy happened.

"Look up man, we fell from there." I pointed up using my index finger.

"What the?! Your telling me we survived that?" He was suprised, after all no one can still be alive after falling from that distance. Except if he cancel fall damage of course.

"Anyways, we dont know where we are or where we should go. It is most likely going to take us a lot of time to come out of this place so lets start moving, we need to gather food first." I explained to him.

"Yeah, we are in a forest, so let's take some fruits from here." Arthur proposed.

I grabed some fruits that were around us with the knife Jasmine gave me. I feel that we can overcome this since we are together. We already proved that in our fight against Adam, our teamwork is not to be underestimated.

After guathering some food for the day, we were ready to leave, but the moment we wanted to move a voice was heard inside my head as if it was hunting me.

'Oh, you're awake.'

I instantly got into a fighting stance, turning to face my brother who was also warry, I threw my knive to him since he fight better with it. This means that both of us heard the voice not only me.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"It dosen't really matter who I am. What is important is that I will help you find your family so come and find me in my dwelling."

This voice seemed awfully sure that I would try and find it.

As if reading my thoughts, she continued, "I am the only one that will be able to get you home from this place, so I advise you to make haste."

I looked at my brother who was as puzzeled as I was.

"Hey Meliodas what do you think? Should we trust it?" He asked me.

"We have nothing better to do anyways. Let's just hope it is saying the truth." I answered.

If the voice could really take us back home, we had no choice but to find it.

"Ahem, dear uhh... Mr. Voice. May I ask for the directions to your location so that you may bless us with your presence?" Arthur asked.

The voice let out another soft chuckle before replying with, "Don't you think it's a little rude to call a lady 'Mister'? And yes, I'll show you the way."

Ahh... so it was a lady.

"Pffff, hahaha." I laughed on him.

"H-hey! Why are you laughting! Even you didn't know how to adress her!" He shouted with a small embarassement blush on his face.

Immediately, my vision shifted into a bird's-eye view. Zooming out, a location that was roughly around a day's trip to the east came into sight and lighted up before my vision shifted back to normal.

"I recommend departing immediately. It will be a lot safer traveling during the day than when it gets dark." Gently chided the voice.

"Yes Ma'am!" I quickly picked up my knapsack, I looked at Arthur and both of us nodded our heads, determined to go back to our families, as we started out trip.

Aside from the fact that there was no road, it turned out to be a pretty uneventfully peaceful trip, with minimal obstacles and terrains we had to go around. And while we were walking trough the tree, Arthur broke the silence.

"Meliodas, there is something I've been wanting to ask you, but I never had the guts to speak about it." He nervously said.

"Sure, you can ask me whatever you want." I replied to him.

"Are you... Like... Did you get reincarnated too? I mean... Like me..." He was nervous and scared if he was actualy wrong.

I kept silent for a few seconds before replying. "Yeah..." I scrached my head then turned to face him and continued.

"Just like you said, I had a previous life just like you."

We talked for more than thirty minutes about this, we even told each other about our previous lifes. Apparently he was a king of a whole country, so when he asked me about my life I felt embarassed about saying 'Yeah I was fishing for youtube.'

So what do you think I did? Of course I lied and told him that in my previous life was real Meliodas a demon king.

"Whoah, so you were a demon king in you previous life, and this is why you have the tatoo on your bicep. So cool."

"Yeah, haha..." I gathered some determination and asked. "Now... that we know that we aren't normal sibling... what do you want to do?"

Arthur had an expression as if I asked the most stupid question ever. "What do you mean what I want to do? This fact will change nothing between us, we are brother and we will stay brother forever, right?"

I smiled when he said that, and it was only now that I finally understood that I actualy have a real family that loves me and cares about me.

"Yeah, you are right. Hehehe." We did a high five and firmly held our hands together.

As we drew near the location of the voice, the density in mana was getting richer and thicker. Ignoring the temptation to stop and absorb the surrounding mana, I ventured on. Training wasn't important right now. I needed to get home.

Since everyone probably assumed that we were dead, I couldn't help but worry about Mother and Father. Not so much physically, but for their mental health.

I'm concerned Mother and Father wouldn't forgive themselves for our death. The only thought that comforted me was the fact that my mother was pregnant. Yes. At least for the sake of my unborn brother or sister, they'd stay strong.
