Chaos uncalled for

SOFIE

  I received a text from Alec, saying he can't  meet me because daddy Nathan needs him? Yeah, Nathan definitely sent that text. I read the follow up message saying it was Nathan and smiled as my guess was right. The smile quickly got replaced with a frown though, I really needed to talk to Alec. I have no idea how he'll take the news. I sigh and start to head back to class when the bell rang, but I get stopped halfway as Simon approaches me. Simon is in my History class. He's a good looking guy. Smart, sweet, charming. Not really my type though. We are on good terms and talk once in a while. "Hey Sofie." Simon said, rubbing his neck nervously. "Hey." I answered with a smile. "Soooooo, you know how prom is like, 4 days away right?" Simon asked. "Yeah, I do." I answered skeptically. "Well, do you have a date?" Oh. "I don't. Not yet at least. What about you?" I asked in reply. Simon's face lit up. "Me neither. Do you maybe wanna go with me?" He asked, hopeful. "I would love to, but I need to think about it for a minute. Could you wait for an answer?" I asked, feeling a little guilty. "Yeah sure. Well, see you around." Simon grinned and we both headed to class. The rest of the day went by pretty quick. A few corny proposals from juniors here and there, ones I instantly rejected on the spot. Not an option. At 4 pm I finally went home. My parents were there when I got in. Welp, time to break the news to them I guess. "Hey hun." Mom said with her back to me, as she was loading the dishwasher. "Hey mom." I put my bag down and gave dad a hug as he came to me for one. "Mom, Dad, I need to talk to you." I announced. "Are you pregnant? Oh God Sofie what did I tell you about protection?" Dad panicked. "What- no. Nowhere near that. Just sit down won't you." We all sat down on the table, my parents both tensed as they think I'm in trouble. I start with a deep breath. "I got into St. Liam University." "WHAT? THAT'S AMAZING SWEETHEART." Mom got up and hugged me. "HOLY MOLY IT REALLY IS. I NEED TO TELL MARIS." Dad exclaimed. Whenever there was good news, the first thing Dad did was tell Uncle Maris. "NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT. HE'LL TELL ALEC." I shouted out. "You know what getting into St Liam means right? I want to tell Alec myself." Dad was silent for a minute, but he understood. "Okay, but you need to tell him soon you know?" I smiled sadly. "I know-" Before I could finish my sentence, a commotion started in front of my house. "SOFIE WAVES, COME OUTSIDE NOW. WE HAVE SURROUNDED YOUR HOUSE." A raspy voice spoke out through what sounded like a megaphone? I got out of the house to check out what the noise was and saw that Nathan was standing with a megaphone in his hands. Alec was next to him, too embarrassed to even look forward. "SOFIE WA- Oh hey Sofie." Nathan smiled innocently, as if he wasn't just about to call out the whole neighbourhood. "Nathan. Care to explain what you caused a ruckus for?" Nathan cleared his throat. "Well, you see, lov- Alec, has something to tell you. So, I've come here to request you on behalf of my friend, to be present in the park in front of our school tomorrow after class. Until then, you are not allowed to ask any questions about this, nor talk to Alec." "What? I go to school with him. How will we go together if we don't talk?" I asked. "You both are heirs to millionaires. You have drivers. Have them drive you to school." Nathan rolled his eyes. "But" I tried protesting but Nathan interrupted me. "Well, I'll be taking my boyfriend away now. See ya buttercup." Saying that Nathan dragged Alec away. Alec mouthed an apology to me and left.

Guess I'm not gonna be able to tell him for another day. This was dragging out way more than necessary.
