Chapter 066 Confrontation With The Temple Of Odin!

Seeing the unruly and arrogant Loki in the audience, Odin was so enraged he almost had a heart attack.

In truth, Odin deeply cared for both of his sons. Though Loki had committed many wrongs, as long as he showed some remorse, Odin would likely just imprison him for a while. But unexpectedly, Loki stood defiant, dissatisfaction written all over his face.

The Supreme Mage observed from the side, noticing that Odin was now in a tight spot.

It was Queen Frigga who finally broke the silence: "God King, Loki just hasn't adjusted to his circumstances yet. Let him be for now."

Thor quickly chimed in, pleading: "Father, he hasn't caused any serious harm yet. Please forgive him."

This finally gave Odin an excuse to calm down.

"Loki, if not for the queen and your brother speaking on your behalf, you would have been sentenced to death. Take him to the dungeon, where he will spend the rest of his life!" Odin declared in anger.

Though Loki stayed silent, the sarcastic expression on his face spoke volumes. He was neither repentant nor willing to submit.

"Take him away immediately. I don't want to see him again!" Odin barked.

Though he appeared eager to get Loki out of his sight, in reality, he feared that if Loki stayed longer, he might say something even more treacherous. Thankfully, the guards acted quickly, dragging Loki out of the hall. Only then did Odin breathe a sigh of relief.

What a traitor! he thought bitterly.

Here was Loki, with the Supreme Mage present, and yet he couldn't even offer a few words of apology to save himself from eternal imprisonment! Odin had always considered Loki clever—unlike his more straightforward brother, Thor—but now it seemed they were both just as foolish!

Odin was left feeling helpless. With a sigh, he turned to Thor and asked, "Where is the Tesseract?"

"Father, the Tesseract is with Luo Bai," Thor replied.

Luo Bai, understanding the situation, didn't say much. He simply handed over the Tesseract. Odin gave him a look, and soon a guard stepped forward to take the Tesseract to Asgard's treasure room.

With that matter settled, Odin waved his hand and dismissed everyone. "You all may leave. I wish to speak with the Supreme Mage alone."

The room emptied, leaving only Odin and Luo Bai in the grand hall. Despite Odin sitting majestically on the throne, adorned in golden armor and holding the Eternal Spear, his tired face and white hair showed his age. The once-mighty God King was old, and his time was nearing its end.

Odin's voice broke the silence. "Luo Bai, the new Sorcerer Supreme of Karma Taj. I've heard of the Ancient One's passing, and I've long known of your existence. I never expected to meet you in person so soon."

At this, Odin's tone sounded almost like that of an elder. After all, Luo Bai had been trained by the Ancient One, and in terms of seniority, Odin and the Ancient One were peers.

Luo Bai, sensing the respect in Odin's voice, replied politely: "I didn't intend to disturb you, God King, but I had no choice but to come today."

"I understand. Loki nearly caused a catastrophe by using the Tesseract. Though he's not my biological son, I raised him. His mistake is my failure as well. But I've punished him, and I believe such a thing won't happen again," Odin said calmly.

Odin was fully aware that Asgard was at fault here. Plus, Luo Bai represented Karma Taj and Earth. Out of respect for the Ancient One, Odin maintained a polite attitude, even admitting his mistake and assuring that it wouldn't happen again. Many might have taken this as a cue to leave, satisfied with Odin's words.

But not Luo Bai.

With a smile, Luo Bai said, "It's clear you care deeply for Loki. If any other Asgardian had committed the same crime, I doubt it would be as simple as a life sentence in the dungeon."

Odin's expression stiffened. He frowned and asked, "Are you questioning my decision?"

Luo Bai remained calm, his smile unwavering. "Loki allied with the Chitauri and used the Tesseract to invade Earth. If I hadn't intervened, a planetary war would have broken out. As the Sorcerer Supreme, it's my duty to defend Earth from invaders. I brought Loki and the Tesseract back because I trusted you to make a just decision. But I could have handled it myself and dealt with Loki as an alien invader."

This statement was a direct challenge, and it enraged Odin. Gripping the Eternal Spear tightly, he slammed it into the ground and bellowed, "Luo Bai, do you know who stands before you? I am the All-Father, the King of the Gods!"

As he spoke, a tremendous wave of pressure surged toward Luo Bai, the energy of the Eternal Spear combined with Odin's divine power meant to intimidate him.

But Luo Bai stood firm. His expression darkened, and he said seriously, "And I am the Sorcerer Supreme. It is my responsibility to protect Earth."

A powerful energy radiated from Luo Bai, clashing with the force from the Eternal Spear, causing the entire hall to tremble from the impact.

Odin, sensing something was wrong, reevaluated the situation. While he didn't usually concern himself with the affairs of mages, he knew of the Ancient One, Merlin, and Agamotto—all legendary figures in the magical world. Luo Bai, on the other hand, was someone Odin had barely heard of before the recent change in Sorcerer Supreme. He had assumed this new mage's strength would be comparable to Thor's.

But that brief exchange of power shattered Odin's assumptions.

Luo Bai's strength was far beyond Thor's. In fact, Luo Bai could probably defeat ten Thors! Where did the Ancient One find such a talent? Odin marveled. Luo Bai looked barely older than a young man, yet his magical prowess was extraordinary.

Most importantly, Luo Bai's composure was unshakable. Despite facing Odin's pressure, he remained calm and resolute, showing neither fear nor recklessness.

Inwardly, Odin fumed. Why are my sons so impulsive, while this mage—handpicked by the Ancient One—is so composed and powerful? It wasn't fair! I am the God King! Shouldn't my genes be superior to a human's?!

Anger bubbled within him as he compared his sons to this young Sorcerer Supreme.
