Seeing their fellow Chitauri turn to ashes, the other Chitauri panicked and fled in all directions, trying to escape the inexplicable attack. However, with their life essence already held in Zane's grasp, even fleeing to the ends of the universe would be futile.
On the Chitauri homeworld, vast swaths of Chitauri silently turned to ash, leaving behind large, empty spaces. To the survivors, these voids were the lands of death, causing their very souls to tremble.
Desperately, they fled in the opposite direction. Ironically, during this chaos, at least tens of millions of Chitauri were trampled to death by their own kind, rather than by Zane's hand. The sky over the Chitauri civilization was filled with screams and wails.
No words could describe the sound of despair from hundreds of billions of beings. On Earth, everyone watching the projection clamped their hands over their ears, eyes filled with profound fear. Some, already melancholic by nature, were driven to suicide, unable to bear the hellish sound that dredged up their darkest emotions.
The breath of death spread through the Chitauri civilization like a hurricane. When the last few hundred kneeling and worshipping the godly figure in the sky turned to ash, silence engulfed the entire Chitauri civilization.
The planet fell into a deathly quiet, with no sound of life, only the eerie howling of the wind echoing through the empty structures. The wind swept up the ashes, creating a rain of gray that fell across the Chitauri homeworld. From space, the planet appeared gray and lifeless, devoid of any vibrant colors of life. It was a dead planet, a dead world.
On Earth, everyone watched the projection in stunned silence. It was the first time humanity had witnessed the destruction of an entire civilization. The profound shock gripped the hearts of all who saw it, shaking their very souls.
In the next moment, all eyes turned to the architect of this destruction, the figure seated high on his throne, exuding an aura of fear and survival.
Everyone's mind echoed with a single thought: 'Thank goodness we won!'
Having annihilated the Chitauri civilization, Zane showed a hint of fatigue. Crushing the remaining glimmer of light in his hand, he used his skill to teleport back to his villa, leaving countless superheroes and civilians in a daze. For the first time, they realized how insignificant they were compared to certain beings, as insignificant as dust.
After Zane left, with the help of the Ancient One, everyone finally managed to remove the Tesseract from its special device. This successfully closed the spatial portal above New York City, eliminating the threat of anything else entering Earth through it.
Upon returning to the villa, Zane was immediately pounced on by Lorna like a kitten, who bit his shoulder playfully and pummeled his chest with her small fists. "How dare you go out to play without me!" Lorna pouted angrily.
"Ahem, next time, next time," Zane chuckled, patting Lorna's head affectionately. He then carried her over to the sofa and plopped down, enjoying the softness of the couch and the faint fragrance emanating from Lorna. He closed his eyes in contentment, feeling completely relaxed.
"Why did you revive those people, honey?" Lorna asked curiously after calming down, giving Zane a kiss.
In response, Zane pulled the Eye of Agamotto from his treasury and placed it in her hands.
"Just because of this thing?" Lorna said, fiddling with the Eye. To her, it seemed like an ancient relic with no special qualities.
"Silly girl, this is the Time Stone!"
Having been by Zane's side for years, Lorna knew about the Infinity Stones. Her attitude immediately shifted as she carefully examined the Eye of Agamotto, but she still couldn't discern anything extraordinary. Eventually, she gave it back to Zane in frustration.
"It's not fun at all," she said, nuzzling her face against Zane's chest.
"You're a queen now, yet you still act like a child," Zane laughed, ruffling her hair until it resembled a bird's nest. Lorna retaliated by messing up Zane's hair. The two of them began playfully tussling on the sofa.
Rocket and the others, who were playing games nearby, gave them a disdainful glance. 'How childish!'
Zane didn't immediately head to his study to merge with the Time Stone. When he had previously merged with the other three stones, he was in peak condition.
Now, his death energy hadn't fully recovered. If he recklessly attempted the merger, the stone's energy might harm his body, possibly even damaging his divine core.
With the Time Stone securely in his possession, there was no rush. Zane, with his billions of devoted followers, would fully recover in just two days. Plus, using up almost all his death energy had its benefits. The newly replenished energy was much purer, and his understanding of the death rules had deepened significantly.
Meanwhile, the global situation on Earth was in turmoil due to Zane's actions. His villa, however, remained a tranquil haven. Witnessing Zane single-handedly destroy a civilization had quashed any ulterior motives people might have had.
The area within a hundred miles of Zane's villa became an absolute no-go zone for all factions. Even S.H.I.E.L.D. stationed three teams of agents to ensure no one could disturb Zane.
