Disclaimer: As many of you are aware, the Mutant movie's timeline is a mess in itself so don't expect me to follow it. Also, we are still in MCU if you are confused about how then I am sure your fellow readers would be happy to explain and I will be explaining it in the epilogue of volume 2 anyways.
***Narrator P.O.V.
"Thank you for arriving at the moment's notice, professor." Nick took his seat while Caulson naturally stood beside him.
Charles was a man in his early 40s, not capable of walking on his own which is why he was in a wheelchair whenever Nick saw him. Given his looks, it was clear that he must be quite a lady-killer in his 20s.
Nick was quite jealous that he still has his hair intact while Nick himself started losing them right at this age.
Storm was a young woman in her late 20s, almost 30 that professor recruited in his camp 5 or so years ago.
"This is the least I could do after you vouched for me and my students in front of the security council that doesn't see mutants as one of their own." Charles chuckled.
"That is to be expected. Politicians are a greedy bunch. They sometimes forget what they are doing and what will be the consequences of their greediness." Nick grumbled while massaging his forehead.
"I don't want mutants to be our enemies just because some greedy people decided that they are not humans because, in the end, the one suffering from consequences would be the normal population of this planet."
"You are a good man, director." Charles sincerely replied.
"How is your school going on? How many years has it been since you started?" Nick respected the man for what he was doing.
"5 in next month. There are certain issues with how to make kids with so many gifts respect each other and be fair to everyone while teaching but that was to be expected and I am glad that I have wonderful teachers like storm helping me with that." Charles glanced at her.
"In fact, we would be having an addition soon." Charles smiled," We detected a new mutant awakening recently and I was about to reach out to her but I didn't expect to find her here."
"Do you mean the young lady we have detained, professor?" Caulson asked.
"Indeed. She awakened her gene a few days ago and I contracted her with Cerebro and we agreed to meet her tomorrow but by some means of fate, she ended up involving herself with Shield."
"How is she faring, right now?" Nick asked since he knew that the professor visited her right now.
"Well.... Given the state she is in, I thought it was better to tell her about the Kryptonian a few days ago. She had quite an experience." Charles laughed hesitantly and chose to not continue the topic since a lady was present in the room.
"What is your take on the Kryptonian, director?" Storm spoke for the first time. She did not wish to discuss the sex experience of a 20-year-old with men of their age.
"What's my take?" Nick laughed mockingly," it seems you didn't understand the implied message that Kryptonian was giving."
"Can you elaborate, sir?" Caulson asked in curiosity.
"The first question he asked was how important the organization I am the director of. Then he mentioned nuclear weapons before outright telling me to inform the world leaders about his offer. Why do you think he did that?" Nick asked with a wry smile.
Both Storm and Caulson didn't have any concrete answer so Charles gave them the answer.
"He never wished to negotiate with the director in the first place. Just like how you were a massage that passed his message to the director, the director is also a message that has to pass the message to the ones that he really wants to negotiate with." Charles explained.
Nick nodded and continued from where he left," He has quite an authority over us since he has a way of absolutely annihilating us. We are not qualified to negotiate with him as we are not his equals right now. Only the world leaders that have equal power by the means of nuclear weapons have the right to negotiate with him."
"It's the Cuba missile crisis all over again." Charles sighed.
"What do you think, professor?" Nick asked after some deliberation.
"I'm afraid that I took his advice seriously to not look beyond just the surface because I had a premonition that he was not lying. As a psychic, I take such premonitions seriously."
"I do not know how many secrets he has been hiding but do not take his words with absolute certainty. He has chosen to speak the truth but it is not complete. Sometimes half-truths can be more harmful than outright lies." Charles advised.
Nick nodded without looking lost in his thoughts," I have a few close encounters with outer species myself. Some were like humans while some had abilities like mutants and then there was one that could outright destroy an entire galactic fleet on her own. I wonder which category this Kryptonian comes in."
Charles turned thoughtful for a second before addressing in the most serious tone fury has ever seen him speak in.
"While I could not look inside, looking at just the surface was enough for me to get some idea about our alien friend. He was holding himself back, outright suppressing himself to astronomical levels. Most of his focus was on holding himself back the whole time."
"I know someone similar like that. She also has to focus most of her energy and mind on holding herself back because if she didn't, destruction at unprecedented levels would happen just because she exists."
"If he is anything like her, we don't want him to release that control on himself whether he could throw rocks at the planet from space or not." Charles got the same feeling from him that he gets from Jane, the only difference was that he appeared to be more capable than her in terms of control himself.
Nick nodded.
.....
"Follow me", Caulson said at last after telling Kar-el that Nick fury had summoned him.
Kar-el joined him as they strolled in the hallway.
"The food that you delivered the evening was quite good but the red wine tasted weird." Kar-el tried to do some small talk.
"I will tell your assessment to the chefs. I'm sure they will not make the same mistake again." Caulson nodded. He was not surprised that the wine would taste weird after all half of it was tasteless and odorless poison. An amount that could kill 100 African elephants in minutes.
They entered fury's office before walking toward the cabinet on the left. Caulson fulfilled some security checks before it opened to reveal a hidden room.
Inside Nick fury was standing and talking to some old people displayed sitting on the screens.
"Where is my chair?" Kar-el asked the moment he entered the room and realized that he has to stand while they were sitting.
World leaders chose to remain silent and just observe their opponent in the negotiations while leaving the matter to Nick. Nick just glanced at Caulson once and he quickly nodded with thinly joined lips and brought a chair from the office outside.
He knew that fury doesn't like to sit at such times. Once done, he excused himself from the room.
Kar-el took the seat and frowned a bit in distrust," Not very comfy."
"Please forgive my impatience but I don't think we have enough time to wait for a chair to come that is to your requirements." One of the leaders spoke.
"Valid enough." Kar-el nodded," let's start then"
"How should we address you, Kryptonian?" The old lady asked.
"Kar-el. Kar is my name and El is the name of my house or as it is commonly known here as Aristocratic Surname. This sign on my chest is simple of house. I'm sure you are familiar with the concept of Aristocratic symbols" Kar-el pointed at his suit.
"Very well, Kar-el. What do you want from us?"
"Non-interference in my affairs until I stay on earth. Treat me like how you create a foreign diplomat except that I do not wish to be observed by spies." Kar-el repeated his condition.
"I'm sure you understand that what you are asking is too much. How can we feel secure to get an alien run unsupervised on our planet and expect nothing bad to happen?"
Kar-el laughed," I am not asking much. You provide similar conditions to your people, why can't I have it too? I never said to complete let me be unsupervised, just do not send your dogs at me because I have a habit of killing them the moment I find it out."
"What will you be willing to give in return?" The head leader asked after some silence.
"Protection from foreign forces, Information on galactic levels, consultancy on space diplomatic relations. What else do you want?" Kar-el tauntingly raised an eyebrow.
"Sharing of Kryptonian technology." They didn't waste a second before getting to the point.
"You are out of your depths right now." Kar-el waved his hand in dismissal.
"Kar-el, I hope you understand that we are trying to reach an agreement here, and if you are not sincere here, we cannot do anything." The guy in the middle spoke slowly like he was preaching and others nodded.
Kar-el smirked before turning to Fury," Tell me, director. What will happen if during the middle ages, suddenly some peasants got their hands on machine guns with unlimited ammo and armor that cannot be broken unless you fire a bazooka at it?"
"It would not take long before they become emperors by destroying the current system with absolute power." Fury seriously replied.
Kar-el then turned at the leaders before leaning a bit forward, " Do you know how advanced Kryptonian tech is?"
"We have conquered entire galaxies just by sending a single spaceship. Used black holes like personal prison cells, terra formed planets 100 times the size of earth in a span of a day."
"Do you think your people are ready for such technology, I think not. Technological advances do bring prosperity and comfort but technological jumps only bring chaos and civilizational ruins. Especially a jump as big as this one." Kar-el shook his head.
"It is far better for your people to take baby steps as they advance forward. It is not like your planet lacks brilliant minds for that. You are already on the brink of achieving a complete efficient energy. It is a sign that you are not far from truly venturing outside of your solar system. "
"I will not share what you desire. I am familiar with your kind. I have spend quite some time among with your kind on my home planet of krypton."
"You desire assurance that the power you hold right now cannot be stolen from you and for that you need complete control over public. If you can, you would have stopped any criticism of you to ever happen."
"We are not here to receive an lecture on how should we behave from you.", One on the men coldly replied.
"True and I am also not here to receive orders from you that I must absolutely comply with. Do not think that if I have given you an inch, you can take a mile?" Kar-el coldly replied.
"You are at a disadvantage here, not me. You are not capable of hurting me unless you use nukes and that you cannot but I could still drop an rock big enough to decimate an entire continent."
After that, the meeting continued for an entire hour on minor details of what would kar-el's role would be if an invasion or sort happened but the world leader were much easier to deal with.
