CHAPTER FIFTY TWO - Silent Commitment

Adian's POV

Finishing up the work on hand with my PA as we arrange back to back meetings for tomorrow so I'll have to leave Hailey at home for half day. At least Adana would be with her.

I realize she didn't want me staying back in the building with those crazies loose.

I'm still angry about the way they treated her today at the meeting and after the meeting.

I can't afford to leave her alone in her office because someone would try to get at her as she's now declared the half owner of Sullaknights.

Uncle Jerry told me about it from the beginning but I didn't expect it to come out at the meeting today. Why did the board decide to reveal that information?

Uncle Alan lied to her at lunch about his name and all he did was advise me to support her. He seems to care and I don't know why I never realise they share the same last name and now he too is sworn by some code of secrecy. I promise him that I'll take care of her and support her, my problem though is how much can I tell her.

No one can force her to remember because she could become mentality imbalance again, but after reading her dreams and nightmare book, she is remembering but is afraid to share it with anyone because they may send her back to the shrink who kept her medicated.

If the DNA tests that Basil dropped off come back positive, we will be one step closer to finding answers for Hailey and for me.

How are we connected? What actually drew us together? For me, it was an attraction followed by lust! Now I care. I want to protect her from the demons that have been haunting her since she saw her mother die.

Where is her father? Why is he hiding? He left everything for her so how is he surviving?

That's why she refused my bank card? Does she actually know her true worth? At least she isn't after my money like my ex fiancé who tried to seduce my father, because he owned the entire Knights foundation.

I'm glad my ex fiancé couldn't wait for my inheritance, otherwise Hailey would have just been a copartner in our company. Now she's my copartner in life.

Finding them together hurt like f***ing hell and it still does because of my father's involvement. When we first met, I gave Hailey the impression that I was a errand boy for a company and she didn't snub me.

When that scar man followed her, I went after him to stop whatever he had planned to do to her, but when she threw herself into my arms, my world opened up again.

Hugging her brought up emotions within me, not lust, but my heart. My heart started to beat silently again. The heart that was frozen for three years, started melting and it sacred me. Being vulnerable to another person is not a path I would choose again, but it's happening again.

I told her I was tired, but didn't explain that what I'm tired of doing, is fighting the feelings that is growing for her.

In just a week, she's now topped the list of important women on my life. It's now her, my sister and my mother.

"Wake up man, wake up" Basil shakes my shoulders. "The girls are coming" Basil continues shaking me.

"F**k man, stop shaking me! I'm not sleeping" I shouted annoyed as I pushed his hand away.

"Cudda fooled me" he chuckles. "This is the last time I bring those girls shopping. It's now on Gerard" he tells me.

I hate doing this to Basil but I need him more on Hailey than on me.

"Bas," I adjusted my seat, sitting up. "I need you on Hailey for the time being." I told him and Bas, being Bas would understand that I need him as her shadow.

Turning to look at me, "you're still holding out on me" Bas states.

Knowing exactly what he means, I threw my head back on the seat, closing my eyes with a smirk.

"I'm happy for you man" Basil says, "really happy, but shopping with those two" Bas says, opening the trunk of my Benz, "is on you" he added opening the door to give them assistance.

Not wanting to look like the lazy guy. I got out of the car walking around to where the three of them were unpacking the entire supermarket and I'm most certain it's on Adana.

As I walked up to Hailey to assist her with some bags, I saw a guy smiling, taking it from her hand. She reluctantly let go of the bags as he takes it to the trunk of my car. Standing awkwardly, she looks up to meet my narrow stare. Smiling shyly she, goes to one of the trolley, opening and closing bags until she found what she was looking for.

Taking the two bags, she left the guy, Adana and Bas, walking up to me with a smile, handing the two bags to me.

I escorted her to the car opening the bags which were only drinks. Two bottles of the champagne that I got her at our wedding. or what she drunkenly calls 'bubbly'.

"For us" she whispers shyly.

Smiling knowingly, "enticement to remain at home alone with you?" I ask seductively.

"Do I need to entice you" she frowned at me.

Shaking my head, "not, since that day when I followed you into the coffee shop" I tell her, drawing closer to her.

She looked around self consciously, before turning her face back to me with lowered eyes.

As she felt me drawing away a bit, she reached up a hand across my waist, reaching up, pecking me the side of my mouth.

Grinning at her attempt of PDA, I kissed the top of her head, opening the door for her.
