CHAPTER 13

It was strange, the feeling I got when I had touched the cloth that wrapped around Theo's wound. Now there was this, only this time it wasn't just a feeling.

It was as if my whole body was about to collapse and there was nothing I could do about it.

Goku had insisted on staying with me, I could tell he was scared and I understood why, such things had never happened to me before, it was a wonder that I would suddenly feel faint for no reason.

I had persuaded him not to get the healer, there was no way father wouldn't find out about it if Goku brought the healer here, and then he too would worry.

" I was probably just tired, nothing a little rest won't fix "I said, trying to sound convincing.

Goku acted like he was convinced by what I said but I knew he really wasn't.

After studying me closely for a while he finally got up and tried to make me something, from the way he looked I knew he still didn't know how to cook after all this time. I noticed the tense look on his face as soon as I pulled the bowl of soup closer to my lips, he seemed so nervous, it was amusing, but he had tried so hard, I didn't want to make his efforts seem like a waste, I drank a little from the bowl and handed it back to him.

He stared at the bowl and back at me with suspicious eyes, then he finally dropped it on the table, and was by my side the next minute.

" Feeling better ? " he asked, but he didn't give me any space to answer before he asked another question

.

" What happened back there ? are you feeling sick ? " he asked again.

I shook my head lightly to tell him that I wasn't, but he didn't look too convinced, and studied me carefully like some sort of healer he had become.

I knew he would go on worrying like this if I let him, so I changed the subject.

" So.. tell me, how does it feel like to be an alpha ? " I asked.

The look on his face seemed to adjust to one of uncertainty, as if he was unsure of what he would say next, he turned his eyes from me, and after a few seconds, he answered.

" It's nothing really " he said, trying to sound casual about it, " you feel more powerful because no one dares question you, they trust your decision completely, and are more than willing to risk their life for your's, what you do with that power is entirely up to you " he answered and looked back at me.

Not exactly the answer I was looking for, everyone knew how much the pack respected the alpha wolf, they followed blindly behind him, it was no news, but it felt as if Goku was holding back on me, still I didn't stress the matter.

" You'll be fine " I said trying to ease whatever tension he felt he had to go through.

" Besides, " I said again, " what could be so difficult about ordering a few wolves around ? " I said as a way to lighten his mood, it worked, he smiled at me and I smiled back.

" You should get some rest, I'll see you in the morning " he suggested then walked to the flap of the tent and lifted it, he turned to look at me one more time, then bade me good night before he finally left the room.

I hadn't enjoyed fighting with Goku and I was glad things were back to normal between us.

Goku was right, I needed the rest to calm my nerves, I shut my eyes and I was asleep the next minute.

***************************************

It was still a bit early in the morning when I woke up, the sun hadn't risen yet, and the cold breeze pushed against my tent, the flap of the tent barely touched the ground before it pushed it up again, it made an annoying flap sound with every push of the wind, (that was probably what pulled me out of my sleep) I opened my eyes lightly, there was still a little more time before I had to head out to train with Theo, I could lie down a little bit more till then.

I closed my eyes intent on going back to sleep, the flap sound continued and I cursed within me, it persisted for a while and I thought it would never end, but the thought had barely left my mind when it stopped abruptly, a smile curved on my face, I could finally have the quiet time I needed.

I remained still on the bed enjoying the peace and quiet of my room, when suddenly a piercing scream permeated my ears, still startled out of my mind I shot my eyes open and stared out at the still dark morning, listening keenly for a second scream.

That couldn't have been a dream, it was too loud and clear. I waited for another scream just to be sure, everything seemed normal and I was finally ready to brush it off as a nightmare when I heard it again, a second scream, this time louder and more desperate than the first, I reached for my sword and kept it firm in my grip, then like the courageous luna I was, I walked out of my tent, ready to rip to pieces whatever it was that was out there, or so I thought.
