CHAPTER 10

It all made sense now, why Goku and Dorn looked like mortal enemies before, it wasn't because of me like I had thought, it was personal, they were both alphas, they would always be at war with each other.

I didn't know just how that made me feel, Goku had kept such a big secret from me, I didn't know if I should have felt hurt or sad that he didn't trust me enough with this, I thought he was my friend, friends didn't keep anything from each other, at least I thought they didn't.

Goku took one look at me, and our eyes locked, I had been angry before, but now I was really hurt, I turned away as quickly as I could, but then I felt my head bump against someone else's chest, Theo, he looked at me, and then at Goku, and I think he put it all together.

I knew I shouldn't have come here, it was a stupid idea all along, I should've stayed at home, I wouldn't have had to see any of that, but i didn't, and now I was hurt, far more than when I had stormed out of the cabin.

" Maple ? " Theo called, he took another look at me, and I guess he could see the sadness in my eyes, all of a sudden, I didn't feel like staying there, in a way I had kept my promise, and there was no reason for me to stay anymore.

I didn't allow him say another word, I took a second look at Goku, and then I walked away, pushed past Theo, and headed back. I guess Theo knew I wouldn't have listened if he had tried to say anything, because he didn't try to stop me.

Goku had just returned, and I thought I had gotten my friend back, but I was wrong, everything had changed, he had changed, he was an alpha now, soon he would have to fight with Dorn to prove he was worthy to remain the one true alpha, but what if he lost ? like father said, the alpha who lost would be forced to leave his family, his clan, everything, and never come back.

I couldn't even think about that, I knew Goku hadn't made himself alpha, but at least he could've told me about it, he hadn't thought of how it would make me feel if for some reason he lost the fight against Dorn, and had to leave the clan, to leave everything behind forever. Maybe he just didn't care anymore.

I took one more step, and felt something grab at my leg the next minute, in no time I found myself falling, I would've fallen on my face if I hadn't held out my hands fast enough and fallen on them instead, but I couldn't ignore the stinging sensation that erupted from my palm, and I suddenly sensed a wet feeling under them, I had cut myself, my hand was bleeding, but somehow I didn't react to this pain like I did to the pain of Goku betraying me, yes, I felt betrayed, betrayed by my own friend.

I pulled myself up, and hissed from the sting, it was a nasty cut, werewolves could heal faster than humans, that was true, however for were wolves that hadn't fully turned like myself, the healing process took a little while longer, and until then, the pain would linger.

I hadn't noticed just how dark the forest had been, I had been so upset that I hadn't realized just how deep I'd trailed into the forest, I could say I was a bit farther from where I had come from, the forest could be dangerous at night, wild creatures roamed around in the darkness, and only a few who had wandered in at night, had been lucky enough to escape with their heads, some however, weren't as lucky.

Just when I thought about the different dangers that could possibly have lurked around in the shadows, I suddenly heard something snap, like a tree branch, the sound came from behind me, I turned around quickly, but there wasn't anything there, then I tore a part of my shirt, and tied it around my bleeding hand, I knew it would help if the creatures couldn't smell my blood, however if they had already picked up my scent, they would'nt need to smell more blood to track me down, and if anything had wanted to pounce on me then, I wasn't sure just to what extent I would've been able to defend myself.

Snap !

There it was again, even clearer than before, something definitely lurked in the shadows, immediately I picked myself up, nothing was going to make a feast of me of me tonight, at least not before i gave Goku a piece of my mind, which was plenty.

I took few steps back, my eyes couldn't pick up anything in the darkness no matter how hard I tried, then I heard it again.

Snap !

And I saw them, eyes as red, glowed ever brightly in front of me, the creature, I couldn't tell to what extent how fierce it truly was, not until it came out of the shadows, fur wrapped round its body, its blood hungry paws clawed against the earth, it glared at me, advancing slowly as I took small steps back, any sudden movement and it would pounce on me the next minute.

With both hands I might have stood a chance, but not with a wound that deep on my palm, I wasn't a worthy contender, I took one step back and did what any sensible person would've done in my condition, I ran.

I could hear it rushing behind me, sprinting and slamming its paws hard on the ground with each flight, it tore violently through everything in its path, and didn't seem to lose sight of me for even a second, its hungry roars as taunting as its pursuit.

I saw it sniff the air for my scent, the scent of blood flowing out of my injured hand, I looked at the wound, it still bled out, and fresh blood stained the cloth I tied around it, but I looked to long, and when I lifted my head, the creature had disappeared.

I felt a sudden whiff of wind blow against my hair, and fear crept down my spine, it didn't vanish like I had thought, it was right behind me, I turned ever so slowly and stood eye to eye with the blood thirsty creature, its red eyes made me freeze in place, then it bared its razor sharp teeth and inched even closer to me, I withdrew back carefully until my back hit the tree bark, I was, as you would say, completely and utterly trapped .
