Chapter 2 - Business plans

-3rd POV-

*Knock knock*

A ten-year-old girl dressed in elementary school clothes entered the room with a haughty expression plastered on her face. "Wake up Onii-chan, schools starting soon," she said.

"Onii-chan, be proud because I, the benevolent ice queen, have come to wake you up," she added with an expectant look in her eyes. She wanted to be praised by her Onii-chan, the person she looked up to.

Raito decided to act as he used to act before awakening his memories - he didn't want to raise suspicions. He became somewhat of a shadow in the world, controlling things from the background. To accomplish his goals, he needed another power, and what better power than money?

While many believe that with enough money, you can "make the world go round," that quote has more to it than many have never heard before. It shows taking over the world is not so easy. "Money makes the world go round; however, happiness greases the axle. Without this lubricant, life will seize."

While gaining money is important for Raito, it's a lot more complicated than just that.

"I'm already up Hina-chan, come on let's go and have breakfast," Raito said while ruffling Hina's hair and walking out the door.

"I told you to call me Queen Hina or Milady. You're being mean onii-chan, I'll tell Mom and Dad you're bullying Queen Hina," Hina said with a cute pout on her face and her arms crossed, trying to make an intimidating pose.

"Hahaha, stop messing around Hina-chan. We're gonna be late for school if you keep dawdling," Raito replied in a light friendly tone.

"Fine! Whatever, stupid onii-chan, big Bully," Hina replied in a tone of indignation, and at the end just started muttering insults.

They both walked downstairs and greeted their parents, sitting down for a traditional Japanese breakfast. The breakfast finished shortly after some family conversation, and Raito finally left for school.

-POV change-

While walking to school, Raito thought about how to make money in the fastest and most efficient way. He believed that working a normal job can make him some money, and then he can use that money to make more money, but that would take a long time. The smartest move would be to open an investment company. That would allow him to utilize his brain to make money.

But making an investment company isn't easy. He'd need some kind of benefactor, but who's going to give money to a 12-year-old? Raito decided he needs to find a face of the company and a plan that would ensure a big fish to support them.

Being a 12-year-old prodigy might have helped him secure a benefactor in another country, but not in Japan, because in Japan, seniors are at the top of the social hierarchy, and the youth should show respect. This means a lot of people, no matter how much smarter or better, lose job opportunities because of their age.

So, for the moment, Raito has decided on what to do. He needs to make an investment company and find the face of the company.

"H...hi Yagami, want to umm... walk to school together. I mean if you don't want to that's fine, yeahyourrightitwasastupididea. Stupid Riku, stupid." A girl from his homeroom came up to him, stuttering her words and then trailing off into a pit of self-deprecation, rapidly spewing her words out.

"Are you ok um..."

"It's...it's Ri...Riku." The girl snapped out of it and finally responded, keeping her head down. Raito could see a red hue creeping onto her ears.

'She's got a crush on me huh? Well, it's best not to lead her on seeing as I have no interest in her at all.'

"I'm sorry, but I'd prefer to walk on my own if you don't mind. It's just I'm trying to think about something important at the moment. I appreciate you asking though." Raito said with a kind smile on his face, causing her to blush more. That was until she fully caught onto his words and realized he had rejected her.

Her face dropped, and she had a disappointed look in her eyes. She became somewhat lifeless and responded lethargically, "I understand, that's okay. I'll... I'll just... walk with my friends then."

While rejecting something as simple as walking to school together seemed somewhat heartless, they were only twelve, and romance is superficial at best. Raito didn't want to entertain the idea for even a second, seeing as he had better things to do.

He apologized to her and then continued on his way to school, thinking about possible ways to find a face for his soon-to-be company.
