Lies of this Hellish World - Chapter 1

"Man, I'm so tired."

"..."

"..."

"Well, time to get up I guess."

I get out of bed, and look out the window.

It's such a beautiful morning. Much more beautiful than my room. My room is the living room, and the kitchen. Yes, a one bedroom, one bath, home. It's perfect for me, however, it is very, well, old. The room is cracked and covered in vines from holes and cracks in the floor and walls.

I grab my brush from the small table next to my bed.

I head to the bathroom to brush my hair in the mirror.

"..."

"Why don't I just cut my hair?"

"Maybe then I wouldn't have to brush it."

I look in the mirror and see my morning appearance. Pale skin, orange amber eyes, and long silver that's matted into a ball from sleeping on it, there's a pen dot mole under my right eye and another slightly under the left side of my lips. I've been told often that I look to pretty to0 be a boy.

I continue to brush my hair. The brush got stuck again. I pull on the brush, hoping the brush will come out.

*S N A P*

"!?"

I hold up the brush in the mirror. It's just a handle now. The head of the brush is now stuck in my hair.

"Not another one."

"Brushes are starting to get expensive."

I yank the head of the brush from my hair.

"..."

My hair is still tangled though.

I turn on the sink and grab the conditioner from the shower. I get my hair wet and apply the conditioner to it. From there I just continue to wash my hair. Once finished I grab a spare brush from a drawer under the bathroom sink.

Inside the drawer are tons of brushes.

I brushed my hair and proceeded to get ready for the day. I put on some clothes, grabbed my keys and ran out the door.

Oh right, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Lunis Shaa.

[Shift to 3rd Person]

*Slam*

Lunis runs out the house, slamming the door behind him. His silver hair flows like a river as he runs down the stairs.

Lunis grabs the stair rail and jumps in the air, skipping the last 5 steps. Once outside Lunis is greeted with the wide blue sky and worn-down buildings with vines and cracks everywhere.

*Inhale*

"Such fresh and clean air!"

Lunis starts running straight ahead, and then a right. From there Lunis looks at a map with well written instructions on it. The paper wrote…

"Take a left 30 miles from Lington Street."

"Keep going straight until you see an old gas station."

"Take a left for 12 miles."

"Take left, right, right, straight, left, straight, and right again"

"Get on the magic subway"

"Get off at Riverview City"

"Ask around for where the agency is at."

"...well, let's just do as it says!"

Lunis follows the instructions blindly and does exactly as the instructions on the map tell him to. After Lunis gets off the train he looks around the platform. Despite the city looking like an ancient ruin, it is inhabited by quite a lot of people, each of a different race.

"I wish I'd known about this train much earlier. I've never been to this city before!"

Lunis looks around in astonishment until an alarm from his watch rings saying its 11:20.

"!"

"CRAP, I'M GONNA BE LATE! I BETTER ASK AROUND FAST!"

[Shift to 1st Person]

I ran around for a while, asking every person I could, if any of them had known where the agency is at.

You see, the agency is my gateway to fulfilling my dream!

I kept asking around until someone finally knew where the agency was at. I continued to run in the direction the kind stranger told me about. I ran until I saw a huge building, a new building at that, with a 'Strite Memorial' stone in front of it.

A Strite Memorial stone is exactly as it sounds. It's a huge smooth plate made from marble, with the names of all the Strites in this particular agency, who had lost their lives protecting the people from vicious monsters. And one day I'll be just like them! I'll soon be an awesome and cool Strite, just like they were!

That is, after, I pass the Strite exam.

Once a year people are allowed to take the Strite Exam and to make things better, there isn't a limit to how many people can join each time. This will be my very first year taking the exam! They test you on your physical capabilities, intelligence, skills, and magical capabilities! It's like a school exam! Except my school didn't teach magic, care for one's physical abilities, or even tell you about skills.

Right, Let me go into detail. Ahm, Skills are abilities, kinda like magic, that are inherited by your parents (most of the time), they allow people to use unique abilities after activating them. I read in a Strite Magazine that a famous Strite Gunsmen, has a marksmanship skill. It allows him to pinpoint his enemies location and shoot them with near perfect accuracy! Oh, there's another Strite that has the skill to mind control people too! Ahh, they're sooooo cooooolll! I can't wait to find out what my skill is! Maybe it's something super op!

"!!"

"Crap, I got to get inside and register quickly."

I quickly run inside the building and head up to the counter with a sign above it says, "Register for Exam Here".

After waiting in line for a bit it's finally my turn to register.

The lady at the counter is beautiful. She has hair to her shoulders that is slightly curled, soft features that kind of remind you of a fairy, pointed ears with a single earring in her left ear, she's a little taller than me (although that's common since I'm only 19 and not fully done growing yet), she seems to be elf descent, and she's got to at least be a C - cup!

"Hello there sir, are you here to take the exam?"

"Yes, I am!"

"Then please fill out this paperwork to take the exam"

I take the papers and pen and started filling out the questions.

After filling everything out I turn the paper into the lady at the counter.

"Ok, all you have to do is wait for your name to be called."

Lunis smiled at the lady and walked back to his seat in excitement and anticipation.
