Lies of this Hellish World - Prologue

Prologue

The wind blew harshly through the leaves, the sky painted a fiery orange, gray clouds laying carefreely in the orange ocean known as the sunset sky. This beautiful sky of fire sits, and shines, over the ruined cities of this world.

Decades have passed, maybe even centuries, since the world was turned on its head. No one knows when it started, or why, or even how. All anyone knows is that the world, and its inhabitants, have changed. Cities of ancient times have stayed intact, despite their destruction. Buildings and roads remain; however, they are destroyed. The buildings are half collapsed with vines and trees growing in and around them. Roads cracked with plant life growing out of them, it's quite the sight really. Vines have danced and entangled with old power lines. Truly, it looks like an old, ruined city.

But it's not like that just here, it's like that everywhere!

Contrary to what you might believe, we've tried to fix it. To make new cities. And technology has truly come a long way, but, we can't. We, the people of today, are attuned with nature, in a sense. So, we live in these ruined cities.

We do clean up a bit, so that it's livable.

Don't get me wrong, there are new buildings, ones from up to a few decades ago. People remade companies and even made their own new living spaces. It's like they don't want to live in the old original ruins!

The world changed in many ways, and not just in the buildings. The ecosystem has changed compared to the ecosystems in old textbooks. In fact, the world looked more peaceful. No monsters. Sounds nice! There are other things too though. There's magic, and new breeds of people too.

Looking back, it's odd. Why did the old books only have homo sapiens in them?

Right, let me clarify, there are more races than just homo sapiens, or humans, as they used to be called. There are creatures with animalistic characterizations, those with claws, horns, wings, some with one eye, some with many, some can breathe in the water and some live in fire.

Fascinating right!

And magic, don't get me started on magic! When the world changed, magic appeared. Because of magic, many advancements in technology were made. Many tools became reliant on magic. There are things that let you fly, and things that let islands float! There are other small tools, but I'm not very well versed in them. But magic tools weren't the only thing that was created from magic, there are new organizations, called 'Strites'.

Strites are groups of people with strong magic, who kill the invading monsters! They harvest the monster's organs, skin, and claws as well. By harvesting these things, the Strites not only make a ton of money, but also help in the advancement of technology and medicine.

Super cool right!

I really do believe the world has changed for the better when compared to the old times in old textbooks!
