why overseas?

"So what do you say?" Li Jun eyes glistened, thrilled just thinking about the surprise he had instore for Shin. He pulled an envelope from his jacket he'd been holding on to and handed it over to his son. 

Shin paused. "What is it?"

"Just take it, son. Go see for yourself."

Shin grabbed the envelop slowly opening it. His anxiety rising because he knows with his father, it's never a simple thing. 

He opened and unfolded the letter. The first thing he saw was an emblem, NUS. What the heck is NUS? He thought. Quickly and nervously, he scanned the letter while Li Jun waited patiently. 

Li Jun watched as his son read the letter, hoping for a positive reaction because he knows, it's never that easy with his son. 

By the time Shin finished reading, the air in the breakfast table changed. A dark cloud has descended upon the father and son. A premonition of a brewing argument about to commence.

This is quite common between Lim's. It's like a competition for them. Who's going to ruin someone's morning first.

Today, we have a winner. 

Li Jun managed to piss off his son first thing. 

Shin lifted his eyes, his glare fueled with rage. "What's this" He crumpled the letter in his hand and threw it on the floor. 

Li Jun watched the crumpled letter, his lips thinning. "Haven't you read it? That's an acceptance letter." 

"I know that!" Shin snapped. "You're trying to send me overseas? That school is in Singapore!"

"Don't you want to go to Singapore? I heard there's plenty of beautiful girls in Singapore."

His father's casual response only made him angrier. "Why would I care about girls in Singapore? There's plenty of girls here!"

Li Jun tried to calm down. "I've done my research son, that university is one of the best in Asia."
