Landfill Life

Humanity is throwing an ever increasing amount of scrap into landfills. Plastics which no organism can digest. Chemicals so toxic no organisms known to man dare touch. Yet life finds a way amidst all this. The plastic can be absorbed as modular armor. The chemicals contain potent energy in their compositions.

Details part II

The fence, on the front side of the house, also had a door which was held on by two golden hinges, one a quarter from the top and the second, a quarter from the bottom. The gateway consisted of two vertical shafts which towered above the rest of the fence. Atop each shaft was a small spire, increasing the height of the gateway even further. The spire itself began to round out the rectangular shafts and suddenly ballooned outwards before coming back together in a smooth, streamlined curve.

The door itself however, was the same humble height as the rest of the fence, still taller than anyone who might walk by. From the warping that had taken place, the door had jammed itself to the rest of the fencing. On the very center of the door, about a third of the way down from the top of the door, was a symbol engraved upon a golden oval. The symbol itself featured a lion and that lion seemed to be pouncing on whatever lay off in the distance.

Under the fence peeked out what little grass that could, like little fingers that stuck out from under trying to escape. They were bent over, reaching for the legs of children that walked past from under the fence. The material from which they came was like a demonic portal from which the long and thin fingers escaped from. These fingers reached for the ankles of unsuspecting passerby, to achieve their sole purpose in existing. To be just like grass. Just as annoying. The height at which they reached for people was just low enough to dodge under their pants. Each stalk of grass was just so stiff enough to place enough pressure on the thin socks to transfer a feeling to the person himself. This unnatural feeling made people jump up in horror, only to find nobody there. This feeling would then spook them into their dreams, to dream of a demon crawling on the ground to grab their ankles and pull them in a deep and dark pit at which the bottom lay a portal to hell.

This house was placed at an intersection which meant the right of the house was also exposed. The right side of the house was unlike the side facing the driveway and more like the front, although with less features. A bleak wall with two windows faced the road, not that anybody actually ever took a look at it. The intersection itself was rarely used during this time of the day, as people got to work as the sun rose and back as the sun set. The sun shone down heavily on the area, and the street, being completely black, absorbed all of this and heated to a temperature hot enough to give a second degree burn with just a touch.

From around the corner slowly creeped out a figure which awkwardly stumbled from behind the fence. The figure consisted of several rags which almost looked like strips of cloth with all the holes in it. The cloth itself was worn and weathered, turning it into a yellowed color. The skin which was revealed by the holes showed the tanned and wrinkled skin which had beads of sweat dripping down them. The figure was topped off with a clump of long grey hair which fell off to the side, reaching the ear. The rest of the head was barren and the skin which covered it was still taught and shiny but tanned against the head. The figure ended with a pair of flat pads of rubber which had straps that wrapped atop each foot. Each foot was wrinkled and spotted with both white and brown spots. They were tipped off with yellow and crusty toenails which stretched much further away from the foot than they needed to after not having been cut for so long.

The figure was met with a second figure that was shorter, but not by a lot. The second figure was dressed neatly in a perfectly white shirt. On that white shirt was a red tie that was too long and went down to a point just above the belt. The belt was a perfectly black four centimeters that wrapped around just above the figure's pants. The pants that the belt wrapped around were a solid non reflective wall of black that hid all skin underneath. On the second figure's back was a similarly black bag which was shaped like a rectangular prism which covered the second figure's back almost perfectly. There were two straps that looped above the shoulders and down to the hips of the second figure where it connected with the bag. The bag had a single zipper that covered the top half of the bag which was unzipped open and the flap blew around in the wind.

In that bag there was little but a single book and loose pages that threatened to flap away in the wind. On a piece of paper that had broken free from the bag only to be held to another piece by a thin metal pin that was stabbed into and bent flat against the paper was a page full of red marks. And to top it all off, at the top right of the page was a single word. Super. S for shit, u for ugly, p for poor, e for erroneous, r for retarded.

"Listen to me, child! Just by reading your face, I can tell you that you'll face a calamity in the future!" The first figure croaked out these few words.

"Yeah no shit, anyone can see that. This is obviously a scam." The second figure walked across the road to avoid the first figure.

"You little rascal! It's not a scam! You'll regret this!" The first figure stood there standing as the other walked away..
