Living on Earth

"It's nothing compared to what you had but you won't mind right?" From in front of her house door, Sherry spun around and faced Dylan. Her face was a little bashful but a smile still hung on her face. She has never brought a man back home before, not even in Diva.

"No, its beautiful." Dylan complimented. The front of the house was decorated with lush bushes and a lemon tree grew in the middle of the lawn. Little gnomes popped up every now and then and a few turtle statues could be found. On the veranda was a swing bench that overlooked the park where the children were still playing.

"You haven't even been inside yet." Sherry laughed and stepped into the house and took off her shoes. From within the little cabinet on the floor, she took out two pairs of slipper and put her shoes in. Dylan copied her and took his boots off. He too put the boots in the cabinet and wore the slippers.

They turned right and entered the living room through the arched doorway. It was cosy and welcoming. Couches lined up along the window and a coffee table was placed in the middle of the couches. On the opposite end was the TV, standing on top of its dusty stand. Along the walls were various photos of Sherry and her family. Some were old photos and others relatively new.

Dylan chuckled. "You look like your mother." He said as he gazed at the small photo framed on the wall.

"My dad says she was the beautifulest woman in the city when she was young. He snatched her up before anyone else got to her." Sherry laughed and entered the kitchen, not knowing that she had just unintentionally called herself beautiful, though she was. Like a toddler, Dylan followed closely behind, maintaining a three step distance between them and looking curiously at everything around him.

"Tea or coffee?" Sherry asked.

"What's coffee?" Dylan tilted his head and asked.

"Something good. I'll make some for you to try." She smiled again but somehow Dylan received mischievous vibes from her. He shook his head and shrugged it off. A few minutes later, Dylan smelt a fragrant aroma spread throughout the kitchen from the two cups of brown water. Sherry gave him one while leading him to the dinner table.

Phew, phew, Sherry blew on the hot cup of coffee and sipped it. An expression of joy surfaced on her face when she drank it making the brown liquid look really delicious. Gulp, Dylan blew on the coffee and sipped it too.

"Bleh." He unintentionally said. A pitiful expression was painted on his face as he stuck his tongue out in disgust. "It's so bitter."

"Haha, I knew you wouldn't like it." Sherry giggled and teased. "You did this to me on multiple occasions and I've finally paid you back for that."

Dylan wryly smiled. He remembered tricking Sherry into eating a raw shroom berry. It was a berry that looked like a mushroom and when cooked, it was delicious but raw it had a really pungent taste. When Sherry ate it, her face scrunched up with disgust. Her seductive red tongue was stuck out and her eyes were teary. She was really too cute and beautiful, so much that he couldn't resist doing it again and again just so he could see that look on her face again. Dylan shook his head, it was really immature of him.

"You probably didn't have any breakfast either so I'll make some toast while we eat." Sherry suggested and got up.

Dylan also stood up. "I'll help."

But Sherry shook her head. "It's fine. You don't know how to use the stove and everything else."

Dylan helplessly sat back down. "You live alone?" He asked.

"I guess so. My parents are overseas so it's just me here." Sherry answered as she busied herself in the kitchen. From the looks of it, she was used to cooking as she moved with experience. "What are you planning to do from now on?"

"Hmm, I don't know." Dylan replied. "I don't know how I got here so I can't really go back."

"*Sigh* If I knew how I got to Diva in the first place, I might've been able to help. Sorry." Sherry apologised. "You had just been promoted as captain as well, you had a bright future ahead of you. What a shame."

Dylan shook his head with a smile. "Don't be sorry, Sherry. It's not your fault that this happened. If anything, I'm glad it did! I love being beside you, it makes me warm and happy inside."

Sherry's ears turned red. "W-what about your family and friends? Wouldn't you miss them."

Friends...Dylan's eyes darkened slightly without Sherry noticing. "...They'll be fine without me, they're used to me being away for long periods at a time anyways."

That was true. Dylan was always running around, going on adventures and honing his swordsmanship. After he met Sherry, the number of adventures only increased as he explored the world with her and showed her the beautiful and exotic things it had offer in an attempt to ease her homesickness.

"Rather than them, I'm more worried about where I'm going to sleep tonight."

"How about you stay at my place?" Sherry suggested.

"S-stay here?" Dylan had a silly look on his handsome face but he was good looking so it looked cute instead of stupid. Of course, Sherry had her back to him so she couldn't see it.

"Of course, where else will you stay? You have nowhere else to go and there's a spare room you can use." Sherry said with a matter-of-fact tone. She sounded casual about it but her ears were red again.

"I-" Dylan was interrupted by Sherry who had turned around.

"Don't refuse. You did a lot for me back in Diva so it's my turn to return the favour." Her cheeks have turned rosy and puffed up a little. Once again, Dylan found her to be very cute. "Plus, we have a lot to catch up on."

'I'm going to live with this human form of a kitten? I can't, I'll die!' Dylan thought to himself as he nodded. A dazzling smile was seen on Sherry's face again. Her melodious giggle echoed in Dylan's ear and put him in a dazed state.
