Chapter 101. Set Off

Alaric heard her describe her abilities and he shook his head. That many elements and all she had been doing so far was throwing fireballs? He did not ask but it was like she could read his mind.

"I have yet to start taking the battle seriously as you are. I guess its time I get to do some action," she said solemnly. Alaric nodded but he did not reply. If he took this seriously, he would end it with a single strike.

He wanted to test his abilities before he could use his Soul. Light, space and lightning were the fastest elements. But of the four basic elements; water, fire, wind and earth, wind was the fastest.

In the early stages, light was said to be the fastest then space and lightning last. But as one continued to increase in planes, it turned out that lightning was the fastest then space then light.

Space was both an attack and escape element but the problem with attacking using space element was that it required much energy to succeed.

Alaric knew all this and that his space element was only going to be used to escape near deaths.

"Do you use any weapons?" Alaric asked.

"Only elemental light swords," she said and he nodded.

Alaric shifted into battle mode and prepared to launch himself at the deer. What they were currently attempting was an impossible feat.

"Use you light swords to cover for me as I charge at it," he said and she nodded.

She mumbled some words not revealing her techniques and a white light appeared around the deer. Alaric had asked for the deer to be distracted but temporarily blinding it was perfect.

He charged at it with the axes having laced them with lightning. He closed his eyes and relied on perception as he found his way through the blinding light.

She saw him disappear into the light and hoped that he could cause it damage. Alaric created a wind vacuum in the path of the lightning laced axes and slashed at the neck.

The axes sliced at its skin and only managed to cause a shallow cut on its neck. Alaric retreated and stood next to her.

"Don't let it regain its eyesight," he said to her and she nodded.

Alaric once again charged at the deer. With it blinded, he was sure to land a few critical hits. He used the same method and this time, he used all force he could master.

The axes landed one by one on the exact spot he had sliced at it the very first time and second time and the previous time he had caused a cut.

This time the axes dug around one centimeters in the neck each. Alaric once again felt that it was not enough and he dropped one of the axes.

He then held one with both hands and laced it with lightning. He charged at it and struck at the same spot on the neck. The deer never stopped roaring in pain but he did not dare to stop or it would be his life that was in danger.

This time Alaric caused a wider slash and he did not hesitate to use his soul. This was his time. He was fed up with wasting all this time. Some of his Soul power leaked and this time a strange energy coated the axe and it cut through as though it was butter.

The head was separated from the body and sent flying towards the girl. She had a horrified look though. Whatever she saw shook her.

It was not what she was seeing currently but what she had just seen a few seconds before. The strange energy he had once again released it and he had somehow used it to chop the head off.

Now she was curious what kind of energy that was. She was sure not even her parents who were strong knew that power. It could be seen as though he was weak but she now was sure that she could not beat him if he unleashed that power.

That was definitely not a treasure. She could tell a treasure from a human. What she felt came from his body not a treasure. She retracted her light element and he appeared squatting.

One knee was kneeling and the axe was struck on the ground. What shook her was the fact that even after the deer had been sliced, the axe had still dag into the ground half of it being visible while the other was not.

Alaric looked in her direction and he smiled. The deer's body still stood on all fours. It had failed to even fight back. During its last moment, it had wanted to send an all direction series of windblades but it had suddenly felt its head turn upside down and start rolling on the air.

It's body stood still and finally after 5 seconds, the body lost balance and fell with the legs sliding away from each other. Blood was gushing from its throat like a fountain.

If one looked at its head, one could see its disbelieving eyes. It was in the tenth stage few stages stronger than the two of them combined, yet it had lost to them.

Even after its conciousness faded from the brain it never closed its eyes. She bent and picked it by its horns. What she could not understand was why it was attacking with its horns and not it's legs.

Could it be that it was too proud to even consider dirtying its legs with their blood. Dwelling into the topic would cause more bottlenecks. She walked towards him as he sat on its side and leaned on its dead body.

"I am sure I can't even finish an entire leg now since the beast is of a higher stage than I am. I will just cut one leg and leave the rest for you. You can carry it and go eat it with your friends," Alaric said and sliced a back leg of the deer.

"But you did most of the hardwork," she did not like the idea of getting the bigger share when she contributed close to nothing. She felt shy to accept all that meat.

"Do not worry, we were a team. If I had a storage ring, I would have suggested that we take half the meat. As you can see, I have none and this is all I can manage for few days," Alaric said.

He was now planning on leaving and going to find Aurora. Seeing that she was convinced, he continued heading deeper into the forest.

" So this is good bye," she thought as she saw his back disappear.

Without further ado, she flashed the corpse into her storage ring and started heading back. She activated the beasts scaring treasure and started heading back.

Alaric was seated under a tree. Before him was a fire and on top of it was the leg of the deer. He rolled the meat every now and then. It did not take long before he had finished and he was ready to have a feast.

After this, he was going to find her. He was ready to go to the underworld and search for her between the flames. He was now feeling guilty for keeping her waiting.

He kept nibbling the meat as he came up with new ideas. He thought of various plans of getting her away from her kidnappers and also how to find her.

Finding her was not going to be as difficult as system could track a follower. He came up with various strategies and after ten minutes, he was not full.

He had underestimated his hunger because he had found a tenth stage beast. He had thought that the one leg would be enough for him but he was realizing that he could eat up another one.

Giving up on the thought, he asked Sarah to show him the direction of Aurora. Sarah happily obliged and a map was generated. Alaric did not hesitate and stood up.

He cursed knowing that he had wasted time. She was around 500 kilometers away from his location. He was sure that if he did not stop, he could arrive there the next day.

He stood up and strengthened his legs with lightning. He made a vacuum using the wind element and this helped boost his speed. He shot out from the forest and headed towards where the map was pointing him at.

The soles of his shoes were oftentimes tattered due to the speed he was moving at but his arrays did the perfect job and created new soles as soon as they were destroyed.

In some points, he appeared like a blur but he could not care whether he was seen or not. What he cared about was whether he would make it in time and rescue her or not.

He had to at least accomplish this mission and also save her.

If one saw a sixth stage Cryptic Plane elementalist heading to fight a late stage Salvia Plane elementalist, they would laugh hard and ridicule him but that was the truth. He was going to do it.
