There's other things that happened in this time that could be explained later. then built a castle in medieval Hungarian and waited for the underworld story too begin so he is the first actual immortal and yes he is a werebear no big reason just thought it was cool there will be no other like him. Him the unnamed women and Christina were the first followed by lela sev and a few others but only the ancients can turn others. New borns are a strong if not a little stronger then vampires in the underworld series.
