Chapter 6: Earthly Constraints

As Lucent went to his bed chambers to get some rest and maybe a power nap to get rid of the fatigue he felt mentally, Alpha, the leader of the Sun Script Maids, followed him and quickened her step to open the door but Lucent beat her to it to her dismay. She greeted him farewell into the bed and chambers with a respectful bow. She stepped aside to allow him entry, her demeanor radiating both deference and authority. Lucent nodded his thanks to Alpha before proceeding further into the room.

Inside, the opulence of the chamber struck him anew. The pristine white marble gleamed under the soft glow of the golden chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. The intricate gold finishes accentuated the grandeur of the space, casting warm reflections across the room.

His eyes were drawn to the solid golden bed frame with its elegant canopy, situated at the far end of the chamber. It stood as a symbol of luxury and comfort, a testament to the extravagance of Heaven's royalty. It seems as though Heaven does not lack in gold.

Feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over him mentally, Lucent made his way towards the bed. He knew that despite the splendor surrounding him, his mind still grappled with the weight of his responsibilities as the ruler of Heaven. But for now, he allowed himself to succumb to the embrace of the soft white mattress and sheets of the bed, seeking solace in the promise of rest and respite from the challenges that awaited him.

He closed his eyes, the red glow in his eye socket dimming and slowly fading to nothingness. As the crimson hue dissipated, leaving him resembling a lifeless doll, he shifted to and from, seeking the perfect spot to nestle into for sleep. In his mind's eye, he conjured a vision of a herd of sheep gracefully leaping over a fence, attempting to lull himself into the welcoming embrace of dreams, yet despite his efforts, sleep remained elusive, slipping through his grasp like grains of sand through an hourglass. He started counting. '1,2,3,4,5…25…74…96…1,056…5641…9000…' alas sleep seems to elude him.

"Why can't I sleep!?... Can I even sleep?" He asked himself.

Keith needs sleep but it seems that his character, Lucent Morningstar, the highest-level angel, doesn't require the same earthly constraints. He groans in frustration. He stood up and strode toward a floor-to-ceiling mirror on the other side of the room. In the mirror he saw Lucent. A doll-like skeleton made of gold from head to toe, his joints are orbs of gold, and he wears a white marble mask, and his eyes glow red. His wings were an iridescent-obsidian dip in royal blue. He sighed; he thought about the system in the game where information would be shown about his character.

"Let's try this one more time, System Menu… As expected, still nothing happ-"

A male robotic voice said. Lucent whipped around so fast that his wings hit the mirror making him jolt away. He looked around for the source of the voice, he made such a commotion that Alpha entered the room with a halberd in hand.

"Is everything alright your Holiness?" Alpha asked in concern.

Alpha is the oldest amongst the Sun Script Maids consisting of five high-level evilly aligned angel sisters including herself. The Sun Script Maids are Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Omega. They all wore a maid's outfit with armor placed on specific parts.

"Did you hear a voice?" Lucent asked.

"No, your Holiness." Alpha replied brusquely.

"I see…Everything is all right… you may leave," Lucent ordered. With that Alpha bowed and closed the door behind her as she left.

Lucent contemplated and said once again. "System Menu!" a golden window appeared in front of him as it displayed Lucent's Character info.

Lucent looked at his stats checking if it was all normal and it was, to his relief. He wouldn't know what to do if his stats got lower in the process of being isekaid. He ponders if his level is strong compared to the new world, if he is weaker then he needs more power to protect himself and Heaven. If he was stronger, then he would still need more power. Keith's gameplay is the type where he wants to be the strongest so that he can just enjoy the world for all it can offer. Some may disagree with his gameplay but he doesn't care. After all, he hadn't climbed to the pinnacle of ROTHOF's leaderboard by heeding the opinions of others. He must know more about the new world.

As he was contemplating, a thought crossed his mind. 'It has been 12 hours since I was transported. If I was transported around midnight, then it must be time for lunch, right about now. But I don't feel hungry at all. Maybe it's because of this body, but does the same go for the NPCs?'

He exited the bed chambers and asked Alpha to take him to the cafeteria where the maids, manservants, Sebastian, and even Opeter would eat in the palace. 'In the game, they did not need sustenance like food, but is it the same here when everything is now real?' He thought some more as Alpha guided the way. The Ring Guardians have their castles in the rings where they are assigned. Each Guardian's stronghold boasted its own kitchen and mess hall, tailored to their individual preferences and needs, reflecting the diverse tapestry of their roles and responsibilities within the celestial hierarchy. So, the only high-ranking NPCs that are stationed in the palace are Sebastian and Opeter.

As he entered the mess hall, he was stunned at its grandeur. The same marble floor and gold accents and finishes line the walls and ceiling. Giant chandeliers light the room, making it look majestic. Round tables sprawled in the entire room and a long table in the far end served the food. Food that smelled wonderful. The room could not be classified as a mess hall but more like a dining hall from the Palace of Versailles. It had been a long time since he saw this place, so he gawked in awe. This room was more like a decoration, a room to add and fill to this gigantic palace in the center of Heaven. He didn't come here at all after its construction, seeing as his character didn't need to eat. It seems as though that trait was still the same even in this new world.

As he walked in further, the bustling inside the mess hall suddenly stopped and everyone knelt in reverence. He saw Sebastian do the same before he started to walk toward Lucent.

"Your Holiness, how may I serve you?" Sebastian said.

"Is Opeter here as well?"

"No, your Holiness. Lord Opeter had just finished his meal and went back to his duties." Sebastian replied.

"I see… Do the other Ring Guardians eat as well?" Lucent asked, anticipating the answer.

"They don't usually eat in the palace Your Holiness; they have their own castle equipped to provide their every need."

"No, what I mean is, do they eat?"

"Yes, your Holiness. Aside from Lord Atlas who absorbs the energy of nature around him, the rest of the Ring Guardians do eat with customized meals that best meet their nutrition."

"Explain further, how about the denizens of heaven?"

Sebastian thought that it was odd for His Holiness to ask these types of questions, but he believed that there must be a reason for this.

"As you wish Your Holiness, Lord Vlad drinks blood as he is a vampire, Lady Lilith, and Lord Romon are demons so they eat souls, although regular food is also a good substitute…"

With those words Lucent couldn't help but grimace internally, the thought of Romon and Lilith killing someone or something every day to satisfy their hunger is worrisome.

"As for the rest of the guardians except for Atlas. They eat normal food." Sebastian continued. "The denizens of Heaven also eat normal food."

"I see, I shall leave and you may continue with your meal," Lucent said out loud so everyone could hear him.

As Lucent left the mess hall that was really an opulent dining hall with Alpha in toe, filled with uproars and murmurs of excitement.

"I can't believe I saw His Holiness up close," A maid said.

"I usually work in the garden and only see His Holiness from afar. This is the closest I've ever been to Him." The groundskeeper exclaimed in jubilation.

A similar sentiment and praises swirl in the room. "Eh-hem," Sebastian coughs. "Settle down everyone," Sebastian ordered making the hall fall into a quiet murmur instead. "Go back and fill yourself up, we have still have lots of things to do in the palace."

"Yes Sir." Everyone said in unison.

As Lucent reached his office, he couldn't help to sigh in exhaustion, not that his body was capable of being exhausted but rather his mind was. 'If the NPCs now need to eat then should I be worried about our food supplies now? How long will it last? Can heaven even support this many people?' Questions roll inside his head like waves on the shore. 'Although Heaven has the Secon Ring as a source of agriculture, I'm sure it wouldn't be able to sustain Heaven in the long run as big as it might be. I need more land." As he contemplated, a thought arose. 'The new world is a planet full of fertile lands, I just need a small land to claim as my own and make use of it to our benefit,"

He rose from his seat and beaconed Alpha to come in.

"I have a plan moving forward, bring back all the Ring Guardians and Opeter to the throne room and we shall deliberate."

"As you commanded your Holiness." A glint of reverence in Alpha's eyes.

"This will be fun!" Lucent eyes glows much brighter as a chuckle escaped his mouth.
