Chapter 17 Food Wars

Buck came to a field filled with boars and participants but he did not expect how much chaos there would be.

The participants were running away from the boars as the boars charged them with smoke coming out of their noses.

"I guess there are some cartoon effects in this world" Buck commented as he saw the smoke coming out a boar's nostrils as it began to ramp up to charge him skidding its feet against the grass and kicking up dirt

It kicked off and began to gain up speed as it galloped towards Buck intent on ramming him.

However Buck knew the fatal weakness of these boars, 'They are durable, strong and fast but I know once you land a hit on their nose they'll just topple over, the rules of this world can be very strange sometimes but can also be very deadly'

The boar drew closer to Buck looking very intimidating with a sharp glint in its eye.

'Hehe all that intimidation factor and you'll be defeated in one hit' Buck found this situation very comical,Once the boar was at arm's length Buck quickly struck the boar's nose making it fall over with crosses forming on its eyes,

'I wonder how more cartoonish this world can be and if I can take advantage of this' Buck thought while picking up the boar and putting it to the back of his mind for the future 

The other participants seeing the bold display of Buck thinking they would see a blood show with him ending it in a single move caused them a large amount of surprise.

The other participants started to make a mental note of Bucks's strength until another participant accidentally hit the boar's nose and it also collapsed, this caused the participants to once again widen their eyes until a realisation hit them

"Haha pretending to be strong when you just know their weakness" The participants then stood confidently against the boar and exploited its weakness

Soon many boar where laying dead in the field as the participants began to chase the boars back trying to secure their ingredient for the competition

Of course, there were still some participants who failed to hit the nose and instead, got charged by the boar because of their overconfidence making them fly away.

After picking up the boar Buck didn't immediately head back to start cooking it like the other participants but decided to head out into the forest to try to find some other ingredients

He knew this stage couldn't be passed but he decided to try to be better than the other participants and maybe just maybe he would pass by some stroke of luck

"I might get possessed by some cooking anime god and have that orgasmic food people make in anime, it would be cool to learn to cook at that level knowing that its possible because it is an anime world plus it would be very helpful to pick up some girls in this world as they look better than some actresses back in the real world."

Buck then began to contemplate as he walked on his speech seemingly having a realisation "real world ah, it seems ive not accepted this as a real world, so am i now some anime character in the show or maybe its all real and ive just been transported here, maybe ill never know but will ill be able to live knoing this might not thi be real, i could still be dying right now and my brain could be hallucicating or i could be a butterflies dream but as long as i think im alive i am alive and all this is very much real to me."

Buck bent down and touched some vines containing tomatoes on the end, "They even brought us to a area with all the things we could use to cook with but the rest of the participants are getting tunnel vision on the boars, I'm sure I would as well if I didn't have knowledge from the anime"

Buck then picked some tomatoes and some other cooking ingredient from the area.

'maybe it was because, after the realisation that i am in the hunter x hunter world, I became disconnected from real life or because i felt so safe from his meta-knowledge that i doesn't feel intimidated.'

After slowly heading back to the cooking area and seeing the other participants roasting whole pigs did Buck let out a small chuckle at this display, 'its like they've never cooked in their life or seen someone cook before.' Buck then thought a bit more ' yeah I'm no master chef either'

Buck put the ingredients down onto the surface and started slicing the tomatoes and lettuce, he then sliced the pig up and began to roast the slices over a fire.

Once it was cooked enough and easy to break apart did Buck began to pull the meat apart and spread it onto some bread with the lettuce and tomato slices forming a pork burger.

Other participants seeing Buck take such good care his food and adding extra ingredients began to replicate it themselves realising how foolish they were when comparing a whole pig to what they would eat in a restraunt.

"Look Killua, see what he did, he's made a burger why didn't I think about that." Gon said while slamming his fist onto his palm like he had a stroke of inspiration

"Probably because your a lunk head who doesn't have a shrewd of creativity in their." Killua said while rolling his eyes

Everyone waited in anticipation as Buck went up to present his food to the ruthless critics who dismissed everyone else's dishes while furiously insulting them.

"At least you made more of an effort than I thought you did and are better then this lot" benji said while glaring at everyone eyeing them to see their reaction 

The crowd seeing those demon eyes looked away and began whistling or pretending to talk to another person not wanting to be caught on the wrong end of her insults like the many contestants before them as she truly had a demons language with how much she could insult them and not tire.

As soon as she took a bite of the burger her eyes went wide with surprise then gave the rest to the fat oger " this is disgusting where's the seasoning you just slapped meat with a bit of salad onto two pieces of bread, I wouldn't even dare to call this a burger and here you are getting my expectations high your no better than the rest of this lot" she said while steam was rising out of her head 

Buck chuckled a bit, what expectations where crushed when he didn't have any with how he knew she was so picky and he wasn't even a experienced cook he just knew how to get by with the bare minimum

"Thank you for your review" Buck then turned around and walked back to his station to wait for time to pass until the chairman came to calm her anger and set a easier challenge.

Even the many participants after seeing Buck and criticism and trying to improve their food still ended in failure and started to rile their emotions.

It left many dissatisfied with the strict tastes of the examiner and soon it cause everyone to stop trying and stare at the Menchi.

"What do I have something on my face punks get back to cooking your horrible food trying to pass my examination it's not even that hard to cook a simple boar meat stew or ragu." Menchi said while fuming from the lack of respect they were showing the food and her as a professional hunter.
