The Calm

After all the fanfare after his victory, Yousuke found himself a shaded spot to rest for a while, waiting for the remaining participants to finish crossing the line. He remembered Midnight mentioning that only 42 students would be allowed to continue, the teen wondering what sort of event the school had prepared for them next. Present Mid was still doing his hype man job, but at this point, it was easy for Yousuke to tune his 'passionate' speech.

The teen was observing the students that crossed the finish line, mentally doing a headcount for those in his class, while also trying to guess who was from which class for the rest. For example, there was a girl with pink hair done in large, arm-girth, dreads, who had a belt full of different gadgets and the like, and if he were to take a wild guess, he'd say she was part of the support course.

Yousuke kept to his task until the last student passed the finishing line, the teen raising one brow in surprise as he found a tiny student tiredly finishing his run and throwing himself on the grass of the stadium. He had no idea humans could even be that short. The student was even shorter than Recovery Girl.

'Everyone made it, it seems.' thought Yousuke, seeing all his classmates standing among the first 42.

At that point, Midnight began explaining the following event. The Cavalry Match was quite simple, something along the lines of a 'protect the VIP/ capture the hostage' scenario, except they would be more mobile and there would be plenty of 'VIPs', as they had to snatch the others' headbands and score high. With their time limit being fifteen minutes, it was plenty to display their skills with coordination and improvisation among the participants.

The R-Rated heroine kept explaining the point system they would be working with, the details of which being a bit odd. Every student placed on an odd-numbered position would get a headband worth 100 points, while even-numbered positions gave 500 points. Exceptions were the nr. 1 spot, worth 1 point, and the 42nd spot, worth 10,000 points.

The short student from before visibly shivered at that, considering the multitude of hungering eyes that just settled upon his frame. Yousuke would've pitied the teen, if he was just a civilian in the stands. But as it stood now, the diminutive boy was his best chance to win this event in first place, so he couldn't take pity on an adversary.

Yousuke looked around the area, trying to scout out who'd be best for his team. Ideally, he'd have someone for defense and counterattacking and someone else for getting others' headbands, with him providing mobility.

The teen noticed Shiozaki talking with someone else from his class. A quiet girl he knew by the name of Kodai Yui, but with which he hadn't had the opportunity to interact yet. He remembered her quirk could enlarge objects, though he didn't know if it could enlarge living things. And, if what he was hearing was right, that was precisely what Shiozaki was asking the girl.

"...and so, I can't enlarge living things." 'Ah, that's too bad.' "But, I could increase a container of water for your vines, for example. For that we'd need Yaoyorozu, though." spoke the black-haired girl, and Yousuke realized with humor that that was the longest he'd heard the girl talk so far.

"Ah, that's too bad." Shiozaki's words, uncommonly unsophisticated for her, mirrored the boy's earlier thoughts. "And Yaoyorozu is in a team, too."

Yousuke checked to see who the tall girl landed with, and was surprised to see her in a team with Inasa. But as he noticed the parachute the girl created with her quirk, it suddenly made sense. The teen grimaced, thinking of the annoyance Inasa would be if he was safe up in the sky.

But regardless, Yousuke went over to Shiozaki and Kodai.

"Yo." he greeted. "Wanna team up?"

The girls were caught flatfooted by the teen's nonchalance, though they soon regained their bearings. The two looked at each other for a few moments, before the class vice-president turned back to Yousuke.

"Very well." she stated. "Do you have a plan?"

Yousuke hummed in response, before making a small ball in his left hand. The teen handed the ball to Kodai.

"Could you enlarge this?" he asked, and sure enough, the girl complied.

The small ball turned into a small boulder the size of a human head, and Yousuke discovered with glee that he could make that enlarged ball spin.

"Hehe..." he chuckled darkly. "Well then, this makes things so much better."

The teen looked at the two girls before him before speaking.

"So, I'll be the mount, I'll provide mobility with my balls. Kodai will act as support, increasing my balls when needed, while Shiozaki will be the one who grabs headbands. I'd also like if you could act as a seatbelt of sorts, Shiozaki, and fasten the other members on me." the tall teen spoke, and the girls could agree to that plan.

"You want to add someone else too, right?" commented Kodai.

The teen didn't reply, instead choosing to look at the pink-haired support course student he'd seen earlier.

"Well, she's kinda the only one left."

Which wasn't precisely true, as the minuscule teen with the 10,000 points was by himself too, but Yousuke refused to have another dude's balls touch him in any way.

Plus, he was the guy with the balls already; they didn't need another one.
