Annulment

Time passed, two meetings were already skipped and soon the time for the third one came. But this time before the meet up Elvis's letter came, asking the reason for skipping the meetings.

While reading it Selemon decided that now it's the time for confronting Elvish and with this he ordered his head Butler Jeffrey to prepare the carriage for him as he will be going to Pierre.

In the morning after breakfast he set off to Pierre and by noon he reached there because the path joining the two kingdoms was very good as it was being used a lot by both common citizens and officials, so it was managed nicely.

When king's carriage reached the main gate of the palace he saw Elvis was already standing there to welcome his friend like he used to do. Selemon get off the carriage and got a tight hug from his friend, Elvis soon let him go and the very first question he asked while looking behind Selemon was" Where is Lavina? her carriage haven't arrived?". Looking at his friend's curious gaze he held Elvis's shoulder and said" Lavina is not coming."

" What? Why ? Is my princess alright?"while saying this Elvis's worry was quite clear.

Selemon tapped his shoulder and said" i think we should talk about this after getting inside".

Both went inside the palace, Elvis took him to the study where maids served tea and cakes. Selemon was sitting on the couch placed in the center of the room while drinking tea, Elvis asked everyone to went outside wether it was maids or gaurds and after ensuring that everyone had left he asked " What happened Selemon that you wanted to talk alone? is there something bothering you?" after saying this he also get seated on the other couch and picked up the tea cup for himself. After completing the last Sip of the cup Selemon said while placing the cup back on the table "Elvis... there is indeed something that is bothering me a lot and only you can help me". He looked directly in Elvis's eyes and sat while crossing his legs on the sofa.

" why are you hesitating then? Tell me what happened, obviously i will help you....are you doubting on our friendship" with this he laughed a little in the end and continued sipping the tea.

" We have to cancel the engagement" Selemon said suddenly with a serious face.

"Ok.." he said without listening but within fractions of seconds he just realized what Selemon said and he suddenly said

"WHAT?" he spitted out the tea from his mouth and continued" Are you out of your mind? Do you even know what you're talking about?"

" I am being serious" he said with a extremely serious face, Selemon from nature had been always very kind, he was tall with black short hairs and deep black eyes, extremely beautiful facial features and he always kept a calm yet serious expression , he had been always a responsible person since he was the eldest son in his family, and Elvis was well aware of this fact so he can't ignore his words which he said in such an extremely serious expression.

Elvis said " Why..... What happened that you wanted to cancel the engagement?"

" I can't tell you the main reason but... Lavina will not be getting married to Nepthal"said Selemon while avoiding direct eye contact with Elvis.

Elvis grabbed Selemon's shoulders and said with an annoyed face " What do you mean? don't try to play riddles with me...tell me the truth what happened. Have you thought about Nepthal....".

" I have... that's why I am asking for this annulment, Lavina will not marry Nepthal....". Hearing his reply Elvis was shocked he let go of his shoulders and stepped back, and said "What are you planning Selemon?, if this is one of your plans then tell me i will cooperate with you".

"Nothing else.... it's just that this engagement should be cancelled" Said Selemon.

"What cancel engagement? you have been repeatedly saying this since you have arrived...Have you thought about Lavina, will she be happy after hearing this" he said.

" Elvis.....i was going to discuss about this also... Lavina will not be coming to meet Nepthal And i wish that you also don't bring him to Dollmaire" while saying this he looked directly in Elvis's eyes.

For a long time they kept on arguing with each other, but still Selemon's words didn't change and he didn't expose the main reason, but he got shocked when he saw Elvis laughing while covering his eyes

"Ha ha ha! I thought you were different, i thought you were my true friend....but it was all just a bluff in the end.....you have changed Selemon....."." No, Elvis you should calm down" he said when he noticed weird changes in Elvis's behavior.

" CALM DOWN?" Elvis shouted and continued " You are no longer the Selemon i know...i guessed it right...you were not getting any profits from this engagement so you wanted to match Lavina with someone who gives you profits....am i right?".

"what are you talking about?" said Selemon.

"shhhh! tell me for how much are you trading Lavina? I will give you double,...which country have you contacted.. tell me" said Elvis in a sarcastic way.

" shut up Elvis, are you out of your mind? how can you even think that I will trade my daughter ....and listen carefully, i am making this decision for the best of our children" Selemon said in a loud yet annoyed voice.

" Still trying to act... Selemon now I want to ask, if you have to choose between two things first is annulment of the engagement and second one is our friendship.....what will you choose?"

After thinking for a while Selemon replied

".... annulment of the engagement".

Elvis was taken aback and he said "you better remember your choice, so from now on the engagement between Lavina and Nepthal will be called off.." while looking at Selemon from side and continued"..and i think now there is no need for you to stay here.... you should be getting late 'Emperor of Dollmaire ' ".

Hearing this Selemon was shocked but he didn't intend to argue any further.

With this Selemon set off back to his kingdom, when he was leaving he tried to give a hug to Elvis but he avoided it by retreating, even he avoided Selemon's eye contact. All this thing annoyed Selemon also because he was expecting his best friend to understand him, but he didn't.

Selemon reached Dollmaire in the evening and as soon he entered the palace he shouted for Edvik and said " Edvik meet me in the practice grounds fast".
