Life at the Academy begins (part 2)

After the students had put their things in their different rooms, most of them went back to the main building for the tour. Others decided to go searching for themselves.

The building where the dorms were located had several facilities like gyms, swimming pools, and workshops, but they were smaller than those in the main building.

Yashiro and Rando went to one of the gyms in the dorm buildings.

Rando lightly punched Yashiro's shoulder, "doesn't this bring back memories?" He asked.

Yashiro thought back to the day he and Rando promised each other that they would both get into the Academy, and smiled.

"I'm glad we were able to fulfil that promise ", Yashiro responded.

"Yeah me too"

Yashiro looked down and smiled. "It feels like that was a very long time ago. We have changed a lot since then.

"Damn right. I'm also glad your mum talked some sense into you. Not that I didn't understand your reasons for wanting to stay at home."

Yashiro smirked, and had the expression of someone who just came to a great realisation. "Who do you think can do the most push ups now?"

"There's only one way to find out " Rando responded, with a determined look on his face

Rani had just finished fixing her room and putting things where they were meant to be, so she sat on the bed, scrolling through her phone.

Her room had a pink theme to it. The bed covers, wallpaper, pillow cases were all pink. There was a double bed in one of the corners of the room and a desk directly opposite that with a mounted mirror on the wall. At the foot of the bed about 3 feet away was a wardrobe with all her clothes. She was fairly pleased with the appearance of her room.

[I wonder what Yashiro and the others are doing] she smiled, as she continued to think, [I'm really glad he's here]

There was suddenly a loud knock on her door.

"Coming" She said, springing to her feet and heading for the door.

As she opened it, she was surprised to see Shihata and Minako outside with big smiles on their faces.

"Let's see what you did with your room" Shihata said, as she and Minako pushed through.

"wow, I really like what you did with your room"

"Yeah, I really like it Rani" Minako and Shihata said, while Rani blushed, "thanks guys"

"You're welcome. Let's go see Shihatas room next"

Shihatas room was fairly simple, with a deep purple theme. She had a carpet in the middle of her room with the image of a tree stitched into it. She had a drawer instead of a desk which had a small Crystal Ball on it and a small mirror in a stand. There was a massage chair in a separate corner of the room.

After a few compliments, they moved on to Minako's room, which was the simplest of all. Hers was a white and beige theme with a bed in the middle of the room with a desk and wardrobe on either side of the bed, both white. In her case, her mirror was built into the doors of her wardrobe.

After they had toured each others room, they sat on Minako's bed, talking about what they had seen so far in the Academy and what to expect. After a few minutes, Shihata changed the subject.

"Sooo, girls" She said, dragging the word "so"as she spoke."Which one of the boys have caught your eye?"

Minako laughed, "Rani, you're always with Yashiro and Rando. Which one of them is it?"

Rani blushed. "What makes you think it's one of them?" She asked

Shihata laughed, "look how much you're blushing Rani." She paused for a few seconds, then continued. "Fine, I'll go first. I don't know why but Sando...Well, I can't explain it but he's pretty hot right?"

Minako laughed, "I guess so. I don't really have the time for boys. None of them have really caught my eye yet"

"it'll happen soon" Shihata teased. "Your turn Rani, quit stalling"

Before Rani could answer, there was a loud noise as her phone began to ring.

"Guys, I have to take this" She said

"saved by the bell, Rani" Minako said

They all laughed

It was Rando calling.

"Hey Rando, what's up?"

"Not much" Yashiro shouted from the background, "just wiped the floor with him in a push up contest" Rando responded to Yashiro's taunt playfully before addressing Rani again, "you only did 6 more than me, shut up. By the way, where are you Rani?"

"I'm with Minako and Shihata"

"you guys need to come and see this" There was clear excitement in his voice. "Come to the third floor of the 'A building' and all of you, hurry up "

She said, "okay we'll be there in a minute",hung up and relayed the information to the other girls.

"They want us at the 'A building' guys, let's go "

Shihata got up, "did they say why?"

"Nope"

Minako sighed as the girls made their way there.

As they exited the elevator to the third floor, Rando and Yashiro were waiting for them.

"Hey guys, hurry. It's this way" Rando said, as he led the group.

Yashiro hugged the girls individually and afterwards, they asked where Rando was taking them

"you'll see" He responded.

They finally arrived at the entrance of a room. Inside was a sort of Arena, where they believed combat scenarios and simulations took place. There was a sign at the top of the double doors that stated "The use of powers is allowed in this room".

[sweet], Minako thought to herself.

There was a visible control room on the side of the room where various simulations could be implemented in the room. In the middle of the room was a slightly elevated circular ring large enough to fit about 10 students. There were a few students in the room and in the ring stood Sando and Tanori smiling at each other as they took combat stances.

"This is crazy" Rani exclaimed, "Mr Hirowa never said anything about this in his talk "

"maybe it was meant to be a surprise" Yashiro said "but you're right. It's a pretty amazing room"

They all looked towards the ring as Tanori and Sando were about to start sparring.

Meanwhile, in the main staff room, some of the teachers and members of staff including Izume, Hirime (the doctor), and Ichisuda were having a conversation about what to expect with the new batch of students.

"I'm expecting really great things from the 7 students we highlighted after the examination" Ichisuda said.

Izume nodded in agreement, "They seem like a fun bunch. I'm personally looking forward to Aibuto's progress"

Before the conversation could continue any further, Hirime drew their attention to something that was happening.

"It seems the students found the skyline Arena" She said, pointing to a screen showing camera footage of the room. "It's day one and they're already fighting. Shouldn't we be stopping them?"

"Only if it goes too far" Izume responded, with a smile on her face "Let's watch how this unfolds"

The other teachers reluctantly agreed.

"You ready to get wrecked?" Sando asked, with a grin on his face

"bring it" Tanori responded, with equal confidence while taking his t-shirt off.

[This should be interesting] Shihata thought, clearly admiring Sando.

Minako tapped her arm and whispered, "Tone it down Shihata" They both laughed.

Their attention was taken back to the ring as Sando charged at Tanori, who quickly drew a symbol across his chest.

This made Sando slow down, as he didn't know what to expect.

"Bad choice" Tanori said to himself, moving 5 times faster than normal and hitting his opponent with a barrage of attacks while moving around him to prevent him from predicting where the next blow was going to land.

Sando raised his hands to protect his face from his opponents attacks while using the intervals of the punches landing to look for an opening.

He decided the best course of action was to cause Tanori to retreat. So, he crouched and released a circular wall of flame all around him stretching a few inches in front of him.

Tanori narrowly avoided it as he jumped backwards.

Immediately after, Sando created a huge ball of flame, but absorbed the ball into his fists and forearms (adding more damage to his punches) He shot himself forward, propelling himself with flames from his legs and threw a frontal punch at his opponent, the momentum of his movement adding to the force.

Tanori managed to block the punch but was knocked backwards. His opponent charged forward, not giving him a moment to think. He jumped several metres in the air to avoid the next attack, playing right into the hands of Sando, who smiled, held one of his arms out in front of him with a clenched fist, while supporting it with his other hand, causing the flames on his stretched arm to intensify and get bigger.

"BLAST AWAY!" He yelled and laughed with a wild expression on his face as a large flaming fist left his stretched arm, slamming into a helpless Tanori who then crashed into a wall several metres from the ring.

Everyone spectating went silent as Sando continued to laugh.

His laughter was cut short as Tanori's foot was planted on his face, causing him to now fly off the ring.

The common thought in the room at that point was [how did Tanori cover such a great distance so fast]

As Sando got up, he was still smiling but it looked like he was about to get serious.

"okay, time to end this" Zuno said, as he walked into the staff room.

He Pressed a button and spoke through a microphone, "That's quite enough. All students are to clear out of the Arena. Tanori and Sando, make your way to the main staff room. That will be all for now "

Looking disappointed, Izume said "You're such a kill-joy Zuno. It was about to get really good"

"That's no way for a teacher to be talking Izume, we can't have students fighting on the first day"

She pointed at him as she exited the room, "This is why you got knocked out"

Hirime shook her head while Ichisuda tried to hold his laughter in.

"go easy on them Zuno, it was a friendly spar" Ichisuda said, "if it was a serious fight we would've stopped them"

Zuno didn't respond.

A few minutes later, Sando and Tanori walked into the staff room, both smiling.

"It's the first day. Do you care to explain yourself?"

Tanori responded quickly, in fear that they would get in more trouble if he allowed Sando to speak.

"Well we saw an Arena where we were allowed to use our powers so, we thought it was okay to have a light spar. We apologise" as he said this, he lightly tapped Sando, who responded with a sheepish, "Yeah, sorry"

Zuno shook his head, "next time, just let a member of staff know beforehand. You may go "

They nodded, and as they were about to go Hirime called them back.

"Look how red you are Tanori" She said, inspecting

his body. She sighed, held both of their arms and lightly healed the both of them. "Be careful next time"

They thanked her and went back to the dorms.

After the end of that day, after each student had finished talking about Everthing they had seen that day and gone to their own rooms, spirits were very high, as they all couldn't wait for other things the Academy would bring their way. Their new lives had officially begun.
