Chapter 2: The Mysterious Second Floor

Riyans pov

few days later

I saw the landlady Shanti sneaking out of one of the guest rooms, she doesn't clean it. It was mia's jod , so I found it highly suspicious. Over the passing minutes I got overwhelmed and couldn't keep it in further I told Shannon and Rick what I saw. 

 " I have seen them leaving too" Shannon said "Then why haven't you told us soon" I said

 " I haven't " Rick intergected 

 "Then shut up " I said Shannon said " but we can't do something as it's her business , she goes to the second floor with a plate of food and return within 5 minutes " " there could be someone sick there" Rick refuted. " Nah" Shannon said " which sick person can finish food in 5 minutes". " we go up there and check what is there" Rick suggested " the stairs are so narrow that we will be spotted the moment we go up there" Shannon hit Rick's head while saying this " ."Hmm" I said " well it find any thing suspicious just tell us " with that we rested for the day.

Next day as usual we started our work but Shannon suddenly called us to our room he took us to the stairs of second floor Rick got annoyed " what the fuck man why did you brought us here" "shh.. look" I Said the we all say Shanti going upstairs with a plate of food and returning in 5 minutes or so. Rick " it's time for some adventure let's go up there and solve this mystery" . 

" let's go there at night " I suggested and with that we all return to our work.

Later at night 

We all met at the bottom of staircase leading to second floor. 

Shannon : " why we never saw this person that lives on second floor "

Riyan: " nor Shanti ever mentioned him before, it's quite suspicious"

Rick: " whoever is there we will find him today"

"I wonder what's up there" it was all we could think

The stairs leading second floor were located outside the entrance and it was not visible from inside. At end of the floor to the first corner there was a wall which has a door that leads to second floor.

We waited for landlady to come. We saw her taking food to second floor. Five minutes she comeback with empty plate and checked if someone saw her.

Rick: " ok let's go up there"

Shannon: " honestly iam a little freaked up right now" me too Rick chimened in.

" let's get going " I said

" is it locked " I asked while turning the door know it clicked open " No it's not" Rick confirmed with a sly grim. Rick was standing to my right trying it peek from the tiny space what was inside. 

"Argh!!!" Rick grunted " what Is it" I asked

" can't you smell it " Rick said curling his nose honestly me and Shannon can't smell it.

" Are you messing with us " Shannon asked. Shannon get scared easily and was panicking that Rick was screwing with him. But Rick was being serious he said " for real man can't you smell it, if you open the door little further you will see" 

I opened the door little more warm air wafted out with dust" . Rick : " ah I can't smell it anymore " 

Shannon: " quit screwing around "

Rick: " it smelled like kitchen waste"

As they both were fighting I saw the hallway leading to second floor it much smaller only one person cam fit in and at end of it was a single door.

" let's go up there" I said 

Shannon: " No No No.. there is no way iam going up there"

Rick: " you don't wanna go up"

Shannon: "if you want to go then go iam not going "

Rick: "I don't wanna go either"

" If don't want to go then stay here I'll go take a look and come down as you know I can't sleep with appeasing my curiosity and better to go know than mid night" well I think it was better to check things out with Shannon and Rick with me but while I was curious I was also scared and if things went south they can run away and tell someone and if I go up there alone then they would have stayed quite and if they wouldn't then my life would be in Danger. 

I gradually started going up stairs flashed my phone on walls while ascending turning back and checking if the other two were still there. They hadn't noticed the noise they were focused on me with there thumbs up indicating everything was fine. I convinced myself that it was moans and groans of an old house. When I reached the spot where light could not reach my curiosity and fear tried to battle around. 

I wanted to run as the fellings that some one or something was standing at the top of the stairs.
