Chapter 11

"Woah!" you yelped, jumping back and and narrowly dodging the massive golden stinger aimed at your face.

The massive adult Death Stalker attacking you chittered angrily, snapping its pincers together menacingly.

'Maybe you should watch where you land next time.' Pyrrha giggled from inside your head.

It wasn't your fault! Kinda. You'd just been so glad not to have had to fight a Sea Feilong or something while flying over the sea to reach Anima on your way to Haven Academy.

You should have known things wouldn't stay as easily as they had. With hunters roaming all around Vale, the journey had been easy, and you'd found easy prey as far as Grimm went over the past five days flight.

Three beowolves and three creeps you'd literally crushed under your body weight. A King Taijituu that was asleep and had no chance to dodge the barrage of massive razor sharp quills you had launched at it from above. Hell, even a Giant Nevermore you'd ran into up in the sky had been pretty easy pickings, and two Lancers had been torn through like a hot knife through butter when you flew passed the pair of stragglers.

Honestly, the toughest thing you'd had to fight was a damn Boarbatusk, and that had been as simple as just grabbing it out of the air and pinning it down upside down and tearing its belly open since it had no armour on its stomach.

"Alright buddy, that's it." you growled as you were forced to dodge another rapid stab of the Death Stalker's tail.

Death Stalker's were going to be a pain with how big your body is now. They were one of the toughest species of Grimm around, and even this one, just an adult and not an Alpha, could potential take you out if it gets you with its tail. They secreted a pretty powerful acidic poison that could kill a human within minutes if they got stabbed without aura to protect them, and it ate through aura rapidly on top of that.

You pulled on your aura and augmented your body and tensed, waiting as the Death Stalker retracted its tail to prepare for another stab at you.

The massive armoured beast chittered as it pulled its tail back and circled you a bit warily. You stayed put for a moment.

'You could just take to the sky and shoot it until it goes down with your feathers you know, this is kind of unnecessarily dangerous.' Pyrrha pointed out.

You know. But this thing pissed you off.

Finally, after a few seconds of circling you, it lost its patience and lashed out once with with its tail. It was smart enough to not try and overpower you with its pincers, your size would give you enough leverage to overpower it even if it was around your level of physical strength.

It was not expecting the sudden extra boost of speed you had with your aura now engaged. You ducked your amssive head to the side, letting its large pointed stinger miss your head and then you lashed out with a roar, surging up and grabbing its tail between both of your paws.

And then, with a powerful beat of both of your giant wings, you launched yourself into the air, dragging the Death Stalker up with you.

Your muscles burned a bit, this thing was fucking heavy! But you persevered and when it chittered in a panic dangling in your grip, you barked out a laugh, "Not so tough now are you bug boy!?" you mocked it.

You surged up for a hundred feet and then spun in mid air, heaving it by the tail up over your head and then launched it towards the ground with all your might.

It flew down like a bullet, a corona of air being displaced from the sheer weight of it and the strength of your throw.

Boom!

The earth shook as it smashed into the ground and created a pretty decently large crater.

You admired your handiwork for a moment, before frowning and clicking your tongue when you saw the beasts legs twitch a bit and slowly begin pushing itself up.

You were tempted to go grab it again and give it a repeat performance. 'Don't be so reckless,' Pyrrha admonished you, 'This was always one of your problems in class, you always let the blood get to your head when you're angry despite your skill. just one or two sting's would have been enough to kill me at my best, and we're not sure how well your body truly holds up right now.'

It was annoying. But, she was right. You sighed and flared your wings out and instead of doing what you initially planned, you unleashed a barrage of massive feathers that shot down like six gleaming black broadswords.

They pierced into the Death Stalker's shell before it could push itself up and even attempt to escape. And with a rattle, those same legs gave out beneath it and the grimm began to dissipate into smoke and surge up towards you.

'You know, I don't think I'll ever get used to this,' Pyrrha commented as a slight sense of euphoria filled you with part of the Death Stalker's strength being added to your own. '..Wait, what's that?'

Your head perked up, 'What's what?' you wondered.

'To your left, I see smoke in the corner of your eyes.' You followed her instructions and just as she said, you saw a pillar of smoke, quite a few of them actually rising up into the air off in the distance.

That was something interesting to find out. Pyrrha was sharing your vision to see the outside world from within you. But people didn't always focus on the same things. And she was great help for picking out things that you glanced over without noticing. It was weird to describe, but it helped to notice any details you didn't pick up yourself sometimes.

Well Grimm or not, you and Pyrrha both were Huntsmen..err Huntsman and Huntress. Or wait, was it just Huntsmen? Was there a gender equivalent?

Either way, you both decided you had to check it out, so after you got done absorbing the dissipating remains of the Death Stalker, you took flight towards the pillars of smoke.

It took precious few moments for you to reach your destination thanks to your flight speed, ever increasing with each Grimm you murderized and absorbed. you cleared the trees and found yourself flying over a burning village.

Even with how high up you were, thanks to your improved eyesight as a grimm, you could see the streets clearly. Bodies littered the cobbled pathments. But you saw no grimm in sight.

'It wasn't Grimm that did this, look at the centre of the the village!' Pyrrha spoke up, and you heard a seething rage in her voice that was so very different to anything you'd heard from Pyrrha before.

You did as she said and looked at the centre, and when you did, your eyes narrowed in rage. In the centre of the village, many people were forced on their knees with their hands tied behind their backs. And in front of them, standing over them like their superiors, were a bunch of people. Their attire shabby and carrying weapons, one of them even had his boot atop the head of a dead little girl.

'Bandits!' you hissed mentally. If there was one thing any huntsman hated more than a grimm on sheer principle. It was bandits. They were the absolute worst thing humanity had to offer. Stealing and pillaging from the defenceless and propagating the negative emotions that attracted grim and allowed them to fester.

You could feel a mess of emotions. Terror, fear and rage from the captured people. Yet lust, glee and desire from the bandits. They didn't even feel guilty at all. Not one of them felt a lick of it. You could sense their emotions after all.

'Sickening!' Pyrrha spat, 'We can't let this continue Cobalt!' You agreed wholeheartedly. Scum like that deserved death.
