Sage walked ever so lightly that it seemed she was floating as the children all stared in awe

Sage walked a bit closer to the students and clapped her hands...At the far right of the room a door opened that they had not noticed before.

And in came Mother dressed in a tight-fitting gown, more like she couldn't find her size walking towards the podium with much difficulty, and trying to climb up the stairs leading up to the podium with even greater difficulty.

Nobody moved an inch and they all held their breath at the way Mother was clumsily making her way up the short flight of stairs.

"I think Mother is embarrassed, just see the way her whole face is as red as Nana's favorite headband" Ulanni said, while laughing so loud in Sarah's head that she had to close her eyes tightly.

"Hey, stop it! I know she looks funny climbing up those stairs but is there any need for you to make such a loud noise in my head" Sarah hushed her.

"But she has always been mean to all of us Sarah?" Ulani whined.

"Okay but next time try to keep it low you are way too loud in my head" Sarah cautioned.

"Okay" Ulanni replied with a smile.

Finally, Mother succeeded in making her way up the stairs and the whole room was visibly relaxed, they were probably afraid that she was going to come tumbling down the podium.

Upon reaching the top of the podium she was breathing hard and Sage just waited patiently for her.

When Mother finally stopped, Sage addressed them "Students !" Her call was left unanswered.

The children looked visibly confused about what they were supposed to do when they saw her face darkening.

Just then there was a small bold voice from the very back "Yes, Black !"

Sage's face whipped in the direction the voice came from "Come forward child!" Sage beckoned to the child who had answered her.

There was silence everywhere and some people were looking behind to get a glimpse of the person who had spoken.

Then a tall girl with black hair and green eyes walked confidently to the very front and ignored the looks she was being given by the rest.

Ulanni recognized the girl to be the one who had helped her back in the queue at Nana's office "hey Sarah I know that girl, she had helped me before" Ulanni told Sarah.

"Okay, she seems to me like a brave one" Sarah remarked.

"Stop!" Sage's voice sounded halting everyone most especially the girl walking forward "From now on you lead" Sage stated, which no doubt confused the children but she didn't look like she was going to give them an explanation.

Sage turned her head to face Mother who seemed to have shrunk her shoulders and didn't act like how she usually did back at the compound.

"it seems Black is higher in rank " Ulanni said.

"Obviously " Sarah confirmed.

Feeling Sage's gaze on her Mother cleared her throat _uhm..uhm " Children, as you already know this is Black and she would be your new leader and ...."

Mother was caught off her rambling by Sage, who stepped forward and owned the stage "Students, all you need to know is that you will be leaving this place that you have come to know as your home... You will be leaving this place and would never be coming back any time soon. " Pausing and looking around to make sure she had their complete attention before she continue" So every rule and regulation you have been following would be annulled... we will leave by morning, you have only tonight to prepare for the journey ahead of you any questions?"

Sage's speech had left some students happy, and some suspected the real agenda behind the sudden change.

This was not how things went, normally even if they were supposed to be doing any moving it was to the senior compound, and not leaving the compound.

They were brought out of their thoughts by Sage's voice which shocked them to their core "What do you say!! ?"

And on being reminded, they all echoed "No Black !!"

"Now you may leave.. " Sage's stern voice came after their response.

Then there was a scratching sound that irritated them which came from the now opening door but there was no one in front or behind the door, so who opened it? this question seemed to be on the minds of all the children.

"It was Black, she opened the door I saw some of the things clinging to her spread out towards the door and pulled it" Sarah told Ulanni who was also confused.

But even though the door was now opened and they had been given permission to leave, nobody moved no one was showing any signs of moving toward the door.

And it seemed like Black's annoyance was about spiking through the roof.

But then the same black-haired girl from before started moving towards the door.

But Sage's voice stopped her in her track "Stop! What is your name student?"

"I am called Flint " The black-headed girl said, her voice sounding very confident.
