A NIGHT STROLL

Well, I don't blame her, seeing how I have been behaving toward them.

The seniors started serving the food on small plates and placing them on a wooden tray, while some other sets of seniors carried the trays, and moved from table to table to serve the middle-class children food.

The children were all stunted, and wondering what was going on, "Why would the seniors serve their juniors, was this a joke or something ?" Ulanni asked Sarah.

"I don't know what is up with them and I don't care." Sarah replied as she nonchalantly rested her head on her crossed hands as she faced Ulan.

"Sarah they are coming our way...this is real" Ulanni panicked.

"Ahhhh Ulan of course it's real "Sarah said sighing.

The seniors got to their table and rudely served all of them seated on the table, and with force the food was dropped it had the rice in the small bowl tilting, and made some small grains drop onto the table.

"Well we didn't expect them to happily drop the food, let's eat now Ulan" Sarah said as she moved forward to drag her portion of food closer to her.

Turning her head to find out that Ulan was not moving to take her food, but was just starting at it like it would bite her,

"What are you waiting for ?" Sarah asked her.

"Are we going to eat ..the food " Ulanni asked, which left Sarah speechless.

"What do you mean by, are we going to eat the food?" She asked looking at Ulanni, she was genuinely confused now.

"I mean it's quite unusual, I mean the seniors serving us..." Sarah just looked at Ulanni wondering just what was going on in that head of hers.

"Of course, we are going to eat it, I don't know where this thought is coming from but you have to eat to have strength for the journey tomorrow, we don't know how long it would take or how stressful it would be."

Sarah said reassuringly, while reaching for Ulanni's food, and dragging it closer, to place it in front of her. "Now you eat!" Sarah said pointing her hand to the food in front of her.

"But..." Ulanni started.

"Eat Ulan " Sarah repeated. Sarah watched as Ulanni moved forward to get a hold of her spoon a bit reluctantly, as Sarah was still burning her gaze into her head.

Only when Ulanni placed the first spoon of rice in her mouth did Sarah look back at her food.

"Sometimes I truly wonder what goes on in that head of yours" Sarah said chuckling.

"Well I am not the only one who thought to not eat the food" Ulanni stated.

True to her words, some people already pounced on their food, while some others just sat and watched, they were probably too scared to eat it.

"Don't worry, not for long, they will still eat the food they are just a bit cautious" Sarah said and true to her words, after some time those who weren't eating, started eating too.

Sarah did notice that the portion of food they were given today was a bit larger than they were usually given. She decided to think nothing about it and focused on her food.

She stopped when she felt Ulanni staring at her, raising her head to meet her stare.

"What ?" She asked. Then Sarah noticed Ulanni's empty bowl, her eyes because sharp, "What did you do with your food ?"

"I umm ate it..." Ulanni said blushing.

Sarah looked at Ulanni like she didn't believe her, well she didn't how could she finish her food in two minutes?

Sarah pushed her stool backward to have a look under the table, but she didn't see anything. She looked back up at Ulanni in astonishment.

"How did you eat so quickly?" Sarah questioned.

"I was a bit hungry, I don't usually eat like this ...." Ulanni said blushing to her ears.

"Wow, that was fast for sure,...are you still hungry, I could give you some of mine ...." Sarah said moving her plate towards Ulanni.

"No no, am good " Ulanni hurriedly replied.

"If you say so. " Saying that Sarah continued eating her food.

When she was done, she looked up to see Ulanni staring somewhere, following her gaze, to find out that she was staring at the proud girl from earlier again.

Pinching her lightly, "Stand now, we have to go drop our plates, and go back to the sleeping quarter,"

"Okay..." Ulanni said taking her eyes from the proud girl.

They both stood up with Sarah leading the way, after dropping their plates Sarah held tightly onto Ulanni's hand, she didn't want her going to where that girl was seated, and led Ulan out.

Only when they got out did she let her be. The compound was covered in darkness, with only the moon out today to shed some light.

Sarah looked up at the moon, taking Ulanni's hand she led her toward the right,

"Sarah where are we going?...this is not the way to the sleeping quarter..." Asked a puzzled Ulan.

"I know, but let's take a stroll," Sarah replied her.

"No, no, Sarah if we are caught we would be in serious trouble, let's go back." Ulanni disagreed.

"We wouldn't get caught I promise, we would be back before anyone notices"

"Mmmm... okay " Ulanni agreed.

At Ulanni's agreement, Sarah started moving again, "But where exactly are we going ?" Ulanni questioned.

"I dunno, it just looked like a beautiful night to be out on a stroll, don't you think?" Sarah stated.

"Well I don't Sarah, nights like this just scream danger to me, I still think we should head back... " Ulan still tried to convince Sarah.

"Common what can possibly happen in this compound, just try to be light on your feet so we don't get caught.." Sarah tried convincing her.

"That's it I am not going anymore, are you trying to say am fat Sarah " Ulanni asked pointedly with her hands which she had freed from Sarah's grasp, now crossed underneath her breasts.
