Chapter 4 Extremely Shameless

Everything became clear to William as he saw this scene.

"Taylor!" William was furious that he reached out and grabbed Jessica's neck. He must have been insane to come to this hospital room and check if she had died, and even more insane to witness this scene.

This woman was the nemesis of the Davis family. She had been plaguing them and would never stop until she had destroyed them all.

"Cough -- cough --"

William was heartless as he choked Jessica, who was gradually suffocating. After spending five years in prison, she had learned to endure any hardship and swallow all bitterness.

Besides, the Davis family's hatred towards her was too intense.

"William!" Finally, Emily rushed over to stop him. "Enough! Mia will wake up soon, and the first person she will want to see is you. We shouldn't argue with someone like her. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have sent her a bowl of ginseng chicken soup to thank her for saving Mia. She didn't drink it and even smashed the bowl over my head."

Jessica was in so much pain that she couldn't speak, silently listening to Emily's distorted version of the truth.

"Taylor, isn't five years in prison enough for you? Do you have to see the downfall of the Taylor Group before you're satisfied?" William released her and spoke each word slowly, as if he had to force them out of his throat.

"Mr. Davis, you can't do this!" Jessica's eyes widened in response, her voice trembling. "You promised me that as long as I cut off all ties with the Taylor family and never contact them again, my mistakes would never harm the Taylor family."

It was precisely because of this promise that she had gone to prison, unable to even tell her parents. She had wandered alone like a lost soul.

"I can't?" William sneered. "Taylor, you have the blood of my mother on your hands. Do you really think someone like you still has the right to say no to me?"

Jessica's heart ached, and a sense of despair washed over her. She took a deep breath and lowered her head, and said, "Mr. Davis, I beg you to spare me and my families. You are a person of high status and should not lower yourself to quarrel with someone as lowly as me."

She turned to Emily and begged, "Ms. Davis, I was wrong just now. I'm sorry. Please tell me how I can apologize." As she spoke, she struggled through the pain and tears to get off the bed, and was about to kneel down.

"What is dignity? Those five years, like hell, have ground it to nothingness," she thought.

Now, all she wished for was the safety of the Taylor family.

William's pupils contracted. In the past days after her release from prison, he thought that Jessica had undergone a complete transformation in prison, and now her humble words and actions made her seem like a completely different person.

Was this the same Jessica Taylor? Was she still the same Jessica Taylor who used to be carefree and radiant, shining like a star and attracting countless young lords who followed her around, yet she only called him "Willy".

A sudden burst of anger surged in William's heart. Just as Jessica was about to kneel down, he kicked over the bench in front of him.

"Taylor, you really have no shame!" he despised, grabbing Emily and walking away as if looking at her for another second would stain his eyes.

At the moment the door was closed, tears that Jessica had been holding back for a long time finally fell. She bit her lip and wipe the tears away.

"It's okay," she told herself. "It doesn't hurt."
