  Jenna's Brooks's POV

  "What?" My jaws dropped.

"Yeah. It looks like the real deal but it's not. Where did you get it? Were you conned?"

I really wish I was conned. I really wish Jeanette was mistaken. Olivia would never give me a knockoff bracelet. It's not even about the price anymore but the fact that she lied about her parents getting the bracelet from Italy. Why would she lie to me? Was she not confident enough in our friendship? Did she think I would reject it if she told me she got it for a cheap price?

"Yeah, I was conned. I paid a hundred bucks for it,"

Jeanette grasped my hands in surprise, "You should have told me, Jenna. I could've gotten you the real deal for less."

"It's fine, Jean. I like it."

"If you say so."

Jeanette went back to pressing God-knows-what on her phone while i pondered on why and how Olivia lied to me. Why wasn't she honest about it? I thought about texting her but decided not to. It would be better to discuss face to face with her tomorrow at school.

*************************

"What's your joy in life?"

"Joy?"

"Yes, joy."

"To meet a man who wants to know about my joy in life."

"Damn!!! That was smooth,"I exclaimed, tapped on my phone screen and scrolled to the next video.

I was waiting for a reply from Pstar7 so I figured watching cheesy videos online would keep my company. I know I shouldn't be so invested in someone I hardly know but it's kinda easier that way. At least he doesn't know me enough to call me a slut like someone did.

I sat up in excitement when my phone beeped. Unfortunately, it was a text from Liam.

Liam: "Hey."

I hadn't expected him to text me but I guess since we're friends now, I kinda have to reply his text.

Me: "What's up, Liam."

Liam: "I'm good. Um…I hope this isn't a bad time?"

Me: "No. you're not interrupting anything.

Liam: "Hey, I was wondering, do you eat?"

I almost bursted out laughing at the question. Who doesn't eat? Am I an alien or something?

Me: "Yes, Liam. I eat."

For about five minutes, he didn't reply my text. It showed on the screen that he was typing and I couldn't help but wonder what he had been typing for over five minutes now. Finally, he sent the text.

Liam: "I mean, I know you eat. At least, I assume you do. But some people, they're just not into food. They do it because they have to. Otherwise, they would die. But i…I like food. I can't get enough. Unless of course I'm full. And then I'm like 'I'm all set here'. Yeah, so, specifically, i was wondering, would you like to eat with me, tonight?"

Was he asking me out on a date with such a long dialogue? Or was this just a platonic date? Who am I kidding? Platonic date isn't even a thing. Or maybe I'm just overthinking this whole friendship dinner.

The knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. It was Jeanette. She stuck her head in before entering fully. She looked really down as she walked up to me and sat next to me on the bed.

"Jean. What's wrong?" I asked her.

Her head was down, as if she was hesitant to talk. I took her hands in mine and gave it a gentle squeeze. Jeanette was the always cheerful type, seeing her so down was unsettling for me.

"Jean, you can talk to me." I reassured her.

She slowly raised her head, then forced a smile, "So, I met this person online about a month ago," she started. "We're like…in love at this point. So I was wondering if you could tell mum that you and I are joining an after school class."

"Why?"

"So I can go see her during the after school class tomorrow."

"Her?"

"Yes, Jenna. It's a she."

Jeanette was into girls? I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I knew from the start that Jeanette was into girls. I had gone into her room one time and found this secret closet that led to a room. Inside the room, I saw some LGBTQ posters, campaigns and I saw that she secretly ran a campaign.

"Are you shocked that I'm into girls?" Jeanette asked me.

I decided to tell her the truth about what I saw in her room the other day and she was a bit disappointed that I didn't tell her.

"I'm sorry, Jean. I figured you kept it a secret because you didn't want anyone to know. I didn't want it to seem like I was invading your privacy." I explained.

"It's fine, Jenna."

I moved a little closer to her, with a mischievous grin on my lips, "So, what's her name?"

Jeanette cheeks suddenly flushed a shade of pink, "Summer."

"Summer?"

"Yeah. Cool. So, how are you sure she wants to see you?" I asked.

Jeanette smiled, "She texted me her address a while ago. Then she added 'See you tomorrow, dot, dot, dot.' With a winkey smile. Means she wants to see me."

"I don't know about that. Sounds like a blow-off to me." I teased.

Jeanette furrowed her eyebrows at me in an are-you-kidding-me kind of way before she spoke, "What? No. Winkey smiley. That's, like, way more…purrr…like meaningful than a regular smiley."

"Sure, Jeanette. Sure."

We made plans for the next day. I agreed that i would lie to Auntie Laurel about joining after school classes on the condition that I follow Jeanette to meet her anonymous girlfriend. After discussing our plans, we both went to the living room to inform Auntie Laurel about our decision and she seemed really happy and fine with it.

I bade Jeanette good night and went back to my room. As I slumped on the bed, my phone beeped. I thought it was a text but it wasn't. It was a notification.

"Pstar7 just added to their story."

Excited, I clicked on the post—it was a mirror picture of Pstar7 but his face was covered. He's so tall and looking at his frame, he's probably handsome too. As I stared at the picture even more, my eyes suddenly caught sight of something under the shirt he was wearing. It was clear and concise and I wasn't mistaken. It was Fox Lane High's School Logo.

There was no way I wouldn't recognize the curve of the 'f' despite the picture being blur. Suddenly my phone went blank and the screen read, "Picture not available."

He had deleted the picture from his story, maybe he had realized that the Fox Lane Badge was obvious. I was right, does that mean Pstar7 attends Fox Lane High?

OMG!!!
