Chapter 28

The twins that had been sitting in the corner, recuperating from their injuries looked at each other.

"What do you think about what she just said?" Isla asked calmly.

"Mmh. We did plan to reach the academy at some point, but now they're recruiting. It could be an opportunity" Sila responded.

The two originally planned to enter the Larsille academy, but they had expected to slowly get stronger, before they reached the capital.

"If we are recruited, perhaps we could find a teacher to help guide us, instead of just fumbling through these battles and only learning by instinct" Isla said expressing her thoughts.

"That's true, the last few battles have hurt us pretty badly. We're definitely reaching a bottleneck with how limited our understanding is." Sila agreed wholeheartedly.

The two were in agreement so they turned their attention back to the two women that were still conversing, just to be lucky enough to hear what they needed.

" So what are the requirements to be accepted? My boys haven't been busy recently. Might as well let them see if they can grab a place" the other woman asked with an eager expression.

The well dressed woman scoffed in her heart, 'Those lustful idlers couldn't get in even if they had years to train' she thought, but she maintained a smile and responded "Apparently they need to be under the age of thirty, with a high affinity for either magic or strength. The specific tests will be held when they get here".

'A high affinity' many people sighed at the requirement.

In Rusvil magicians are extremely rare, but there can't be said to be none, and not every magician will join the adventurers guild, and the same can be said for warriors. Even with the larger number, especially in a place with very little magic like the area they're in. It can't be said that their are too many.

Naturally even with the small number of magicians and warriors, there are differences in strength and ability between them all. In a place like Rusvil, a warrior with an average affinity can gain a lot of benefits if they're willing to stay and guard the city, let alone a magician of the same rank.

Most of the adventurers guild is made up of low affinity men and women, with the average affinity people belonging to the Gold rank groups.

Isla and Sila had never been tested for their affinity levels before, but they weren't too worried. The two of them knew they had plenty of room to improve, which showed their undeniable talent in the way of the warrior and after hearing that they were indeed in the age range of the recruitment, the two no longer cared about what the women were discussing, only wanting to head back home. So the two didn't hear the well dressed woman's continued conversation.

"I also heard that the two recruiters coming to Rusvil are the eldest daughter of Marquis Ralan, who is in charge of the magic tower in the capital, and the second son of the Retwick family, the largest merchant family in the empire" the well dressed woman relayed this mind blowing news.

The crowd in the cafe was going crazy with excitement, anticipating the arrival of these truly noble children. Many parts of the city had begun to fall under repair after the news had been confirmed. Naturally the lord of the city had to show Rusvil's most promising appearance to those noble children. If the visit goes well, perhaps the city may get the support of either family, which would be a much welcomed investment.

Isla and Sila didn't care about the excitement of the city, on the way back they received a summons from the guild leader.

The visit wasn't long. It was just the reward for the last mission with the golden unit. After hearing the danger of the dryad and the corpse tree, the guild master couldn't think of any reason for denying the twins being promoted to the next rank.

Originally they were promoted to the silver rank for the goblin extermination. Which they weren't taken to the gold rank because the guild felt it was too soon for the two to be promoted.

Even though it was still an incredibly small amount of time, but the two have successfully completed many tasks in the months leading up to the dryad quest.

So the two left with a new nameplate. A bright gold pendant hung around their necks. Looking closely many intricate patterns could be seen on the delicate piece. At this level it could be used as a communication method.

Now that the rewards had been given, as well as a promotion, the two were even more certain of wanting to be recruited into the academy.

The two didn't want to waste this precious time, so while the rest of the city was busy waiting for the upcoming testing, Isla and Sila almost lived in Rind forest. Hunting the silver and a few golden rank magic beasts, trying to fill up their storage rings with any materials they could get their hands on.

The months from the time the trip was confirmed until its arrival date made Rusvil extremely enthusiastic everyday. With more and more people trying to improve their strength, even a fraction more than what it was, which could give them any sort of advantage, the twins soon found that the Rind forest was becoming increasingly populated. While the magic beasts were becoming much more scarce. The two were even driven deeper into the golden rank monsters territory.

However the two thought it was about time to cut their little trip quits. They had killed many gold rank creatures, but they dared to only hunt on the outskirts, knowing that there were many terrifying beasts among the gold ranks. None of which they wanted to come face to face with just yet.

Isla and Sila packed up their things and headed back to the city. The last few days would be spent getting into the right mentality and getting their bodies into the best state possible for the recruitment tests.
