After having a sweet breakfast in the morning which he found it much more relaxing than before as well as Acacia being much more a little familiar with him.
Nai left the castle's foundation and jog around the place. Running under the side sun's shine is also one of the daily to do in his list.
Passing through the little shelter he made for the underground land dragon — Browny. He checked the place and sigh in both disappointment and relief seeing it wasn't here.
"Browny, remember to visit this little house I made for you sometimes." After leaving such sentence, he left and continue his jogging. Garut's grandson came in just in time and asked him nervously.
"Can I follow you Ruler?" He asked a little fidgeting. Nai's existence seems to be an insurmountable cliff in his heart so much that he even have an urge to kneel and pay his respect.
"It's alright. Having company while jogging is also part of the joy in life. Come on!" Naturally, the more the merrier. Garut this old man who keep on giving reason that he was already a bag of old skin and bones also jogged alongside.
"Looked who's old?" Joking around like this, the atmosphere around the trio immediately turn warm and casual.
Garut didn't seems to understand the meaning in what he said as he replied like it wasn't important, "I'm just looking out for my grandson. Why? Does the ruler forbid?"
Nai rolled his eyes, "Should I?"
"Hahahahaha." The two laughed, the grandson who doesn't understand what funny was can only turn silent and give a hollow smile.
The case was still a good thing as the nervousness in his taut nerve somehow relax. After a thirty minutes of jogging around.
Nai finally decided to take a break. Sitting on top of the incomplete outer walls with Garut and his grandson by the side. They each reached for their water bags on their waist before opening and drinking water to moist their parch throat.
"Pfft~ Hua~!" Nai let out a satisfied tone after a drink. The jogging just now was just enough for him sweat. As for Garut, he is the same but it seems his stamina and endurance seem to be a little lacking due to age.
Needless to say to his grandson who was lying like a dead log with his chest heaving deep breaths. Nai might not see this kid accompany him next time, if it were the past him. He would surely back out.
Garut coughed a bit to attract his attention. Nai turn his head to face him as he asked casually. "What's up?"
"The five slightly injured animals called rhinos who can't get up yet were now being slowly tamed by feeding. We plan to slowly heal them using the miracle water after the taming process succeed."
Nai nodded, "Good. What else?".
"We found some strange kind of materials from the dead rhinos. I felt that it was somewhat extraordinary, however, it was already night so I can only postpone it until now to tell you."
"After jogging really?" Nai's tone clearly contain some blame on him as to why he had said it just now and not when they've just started jogging.
"I momentarily forgot, I apologize." Indeed, Garut was a little dazed this morning that when he saw his grandson following Nai to jog. He also got an impulse to follow along.
And thus forgot what he planned in doing today from yesterday.
Although Nai didn't believe it, he didn't care. It's not that he can read mind, he can instead feel the intention. "Alright, let's go then."
Garut nodded and jumped down the wall, he turn around and ordered his grandson strictly, "After you rested enough, go back and help your father at work."
"Ywes~ Grandpa~" Still lying on the top of the wall, the grandson replied rather lethargy. He really didn't want to move for even a bit right now. Next time, he won't follow the the ruler in jogging anymore.
Or he will experience this everyday, not to mention he still need to help his father and mother at work. Where can he find the strength to move for that?
Leaving the place away, the two soon arrive in front of a small mudstone storage house. Dedicated to storing temporary things or objects that are found unusual.
Opening the door inside, Garut took the lead whereas Nai followed behind. There's no need for lighting as the morning sun although not facing the door, wasn't a problem for its rays to passed on everywhere.
"Hmm? This is the strange material the part of the dead rhinos is what you mean?" He was just asking casually, where in truth his mind has already been somewhere.
Garut nodded as he bend down and took a piece of brown looking dirt like four sided stone from the pile and handed it to Nai who received it carefully after some thought.
A few seconds after, Nai gave Garut a look. "I'll take them all with me. Collect more of this if you found more."
Garut hesitated wether to ask what it was for seeing Nai seems to know them and the value of their importance. He also want to know. Interesting knowledge after all brings colors to life.
Seeking new things is part of the enjoyment of life. Nai understand Garut's curiosity, however, he also doesn't know. But he can guess what it was.
As for why Garut shows no signs of expression from what he can feel from the object in his hand. No, maybe he didn't feel any? Only him did.
He would know it in the future. For now, the important thing is to return home and study this objects. "I don't know what it was but I had a feeling it is extraordinary. I will study it at home."
After taking the pile back back home. Nai laid the pile in front of him as he sat down starting the examination. "Let's see what kind of secrets do holds."
Nai took a piece from the pile and was suddenly overcome with an urge to cut himself a little wound for a drop of blood to comes out. However, he immediately shook out of his momentary daze just now.
Shaking his head left and right, how can he injure himself just because of that? "But, I won't be able to try the refining using blood. What should I do?"
The thing he hates the most in the world is aging, dying from lifespan running out. The reason because he was afraid of forgetting everything as well as the world forgetting him.
Pain, the thing he dislike. Too much and he would hate it for life. "Why should I hurt myself to try on something? That's so stupid. Isn't blood just part of the body? Why can't saliva do it or sweat?"
And then, he did something he always wanted to try. Ptui~
Nai spit on the object in his hand. And then something similar to what he had experienced back on the slimes rings appeared.
The pyramid like stone piece suddenly disintegrated, puff into something like a smoke that seems to be pulled by something unknown.
In the end, it floated mid-air before getting sucked on what's above his chest. At this moment, if he can't still understand what happens and what it means then he was not fit to be called a ruler as well as the name Nai.
"I see, so that's how it is. Another material for upgrading. The devouring instance just now was the proof of that." Nai was calmed outward but he was actually always in vigilance as well as surprised inwardly.
Damn! My spit can do the proxy for blood too??? If I had a storage ring from a cultivation world, can saliva be use instead of blood?
Devour, is a phenomenon where he would spray blood on an objects to see of they can be refined and turn into nourishment for his moon's blessing to upgrade and thus granting him an ability maybe.
"Since this is the case, wouldn't that mean I can return to that mysterious creepy place? I wonder if there are more of that rune out there. Though till now, I feel no effects from it."
Nai thought calmly in his heart, his mind was already on how many bags should he prepare for the expedition.
"Perhaps that is just a one-time thing?" Whilst he was thinking of that, he wasn't wasting time at all as he started spitting his saliva on the pile.
It looked disgusting no matter how he looked at it. He even have to forbid Acacia to not come out of the house and must not take a look on his direction just to avoid any awkward embarrassment.
The pile soon turn into dust before transitioning into smokes that swirls around him before getting sucked clean by his moon blessings.
Soon, the familiar vibration came above his chest. Although he can't see it clearly, the dim light from silver dust like thing below his neck clearly proved that another kind of upgrade was on the way.
"Is this too fast? I haven't even got to understand any of my abilities yet." The reason was his cowardice to pain. Of course he dare not experience those headache inducing pain again.
