Encanto... but is that a monster?

Julio Acosta, a run of the mill guy, had what is probably the worst day in his life. Fired from his job in spite of being employee of the month for three years in a row, kicked out of his apartment by his ex and, to boot, stabbed by some random hobo as he tried to get something to drink at a 7-Eleven. Being an orphan and having to work thrice as hard to get something others had by "right" had been hard, but that day in particular topped everything else in his life. Luckily for him, fate had a different plan than simple death for him. A plan that would enchant the most common of men... But we all know there is no such thing as a free lunch.

End x Unknown x Beginning

Julio's day had been as shitty as it could get. He had always been frustrated with the life that he had been alloted, being an orphan and having to work thrice as hard to get to a good position, but that particular day could easily compete with the entirety of his life. Fired, dumped and then thrown out of his apartment and, the cherry on top, stabbed by a hobo who decided to rob the 7-Eleven he was buying something to drink in. The worst part is that he could still see as the employee of the store took out his gun and killed the robber.

'Couldn't you have done that sooner?' Julio thought as he tried to hold on for dear life. Alas, the stab had pierced something important, seeing how much blood he had lost in a few seconds and how fast his consciousness was drifting away.

'Ah... fuck it, at least I won't have to deal with this shitty life of mine anymore...'

Those were Julio's last thoughts as he lost consciousness, his sould leaving the land of the leaving... for good?

*

Somewhere in the lands of the dead.

"Hmm... what a particular soul. It is... too alive, to be here. And it also doesn't require punishment whatsoever... what is it doing in this place then?" A figure questioned as it examined Julio's soul. To a being who lived quite a monotonous life, seeing such a rare thing was like a breath of fresh air. Surprises were always welcomed when you spent the past –and future– infinity doing the same thing over and over again.

"I'll wake it up and give it a gift, since it put me in a good mood." That was when Julio began to regain consciouness and open his "eyes" –in spite of his lack of them at the moment. What he saw as soon as he woke up was an extremely pale woman dressed in a black coat that reached the floor and an infinitely black room.

"What kind of hospital is this?" Julio asked to no one in particular, somehow assuming the coated figure to be a nurse. The figure giggled in response to his question, clearly finding his confusion amusing.

"This is not a hospital, Julio Acosta, this is a... part of the afterlife, you could say." It explained, gazing at Julio with childish interest and innocence. Julio opened his eyes widely at said information, though his surprise subsided rather quickly. It was such a funny yet sad contrast. A being as old as existence, surprised at something new happening for the first time, and a soul barely above his twenties, not being surprised by his own death.

"I see... please tell me the afterlife will be easier than being alive?" Julio asked, the "woman" making a confused expression at his sudden inquiry. It then made different faces as if it was thinking hard of something, which made Julio worry until a few seconds later.

"Well, the afterlife would be easier, but seeing your life, don't you want another shot with better chances?" It asked him. To the being, it was an innocent question. But to Julio, it sounded like a deal coming straight from the devil.

'Do I want another shot at life? How would that work? Would my sould be bound to oblivion afterwards?' Julio questioned in his thoughts, only to open his eyes widely once again when the "woman" giggled, this time in actual surprise.

"Not really, I would just be giving you some gift since you showed me something new and seond you off to somewhere of my choosing." It said, showing that she had no bad intentions towards Julio who, in spite of knowing better, felt a weird sense of trust towards the bein... "woman". He still couldn't decide which to use.

"I'm a woman by your standars, but being is more accurate." It said. Being it would be then. "You can call me Karma. All souls pass by me when they die to see what life they will get next."

Julio, who thought he couldn't be more surprised when he realized she could read his thoughts, once again got surprised. The being in question was no other than the concept of Karma itself. That was some serious piece of news if he had ever heard any.

"As for your gift, I'll let you choose something. Just know that you will go to the world of... ummm..." Karma began thinking where to send Julio, while he thought of what possible gift he could choose. After all, he had to think about it properly. "Ah! I'll pick the world of Encanto this time! You'll be the first soul I'll send to that world."

Julio raised his brows upon hearing the world he would be sent to. Encanto was a movie from Disney, based in Colombia around the 1950s. Julio knew next to nothing about Colombia or their people for that matter, but he had no issues with that. He could always learn or adapt to the situation. What he now had an outline to think about was his would-be power. It had to be in line with the world he was in, at least in line enough not to be outrageous. Besides, he wasn't interested in things like "matter manipulation" or "complete control over natural laws". There were already Pepa, Isabella and Luisa for that kind of thing. Luisa could easily be an avatar of Cyttorak.

"Hmm... that would be useful... that too but it's too much... that is just boring... nah, too overused..." Julio began thinking of the many powers that he could choose and, in spite of his best interest, he couldn't be bothered to pick things like the Sharingan or the Sage Mode or any of those things. He had had a time when he enjoyed reading fanfics, but got sick of it because every author used the same powers again and again. It was like that particular series of fics, "As Madara in something something". Gosh did he get sick of reading about someone being Madara-emo, Madara-crazy, Madara-powerful, etc.

"Maybe... the Speed Force? That is also overused perhaps but... not so much?" Julio pondered on his own once again. Perhaps it had been overused to an extent, but definitely not as much as Naruto or Saiyan powers. He definitely didn't want a system though. That was trash amongst trash. His mind was made. "Yeah, the Speed Force it is then!"

"Good that you could make up your mind!" Karma said with an innocent smile on her face. It was amazing how a being that literally chose what life would each soul get could be so innocent. Perhaps her role was exactly the reason behind her innocence. "Well, off you go, to the world of Encanto!"

Julio began losing consciousness once again, but did his best to hold on. He still had so many questions to ask Karma about his new life, he didn't want to just leave like that.

"Oh, I almost forgot, don't worry about your life there, I already took care of that!" Karma said before waving her hand and sending Julio away, this time without giving him time to try and hold on. "I hope he doesn't mind my small tweaks here and there."

The only sound that could be heard in the infinite expanse of black was Karma's giggles at her own "childish" mischief. In a way, Julio had done a feat that no one could ever replicate. He had managed to make Karma itself gain some karma of its own.

So... yeah. The Speed Force. He is going to be The Flash in Encanto. Why Encanto? Well... my girlfriend had me watch the movie recently and it really fit my idea so I just went with it. Besides, it was either Encanto or Frozen and I really didn't feel like messing with Frozen. Elsa is enough there. I beg people who read this to leave comments with their oppinions on the writing. If you don't like my choice of power or are a fan of those brainless, girl collecting fics, please don't bother commenting. The MC is overpowered enough as it is.
