DxD | Child of Ira

Reincarnation was a treasured dream for many people and I had been lucky enough to receive it. I was granted a wonderful family, plenty of wealth, and the blessing of magic but everything came at a cost. In this case, it was the intrinsic danger of the world where gods roamed freely and myth was merely a forgotten truth. I had been reborn in Highschool DxD. **** If you enjoy my work you can support me on patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 12 chapters ahead.

Chapter 84

If Ingvild asking him on a date was a surprise the very idea of what was happening never even crossed his mind. To the normal devil, everything about this situation was wrong from her holding the ring to her position as his Queen would be insulting.

But, Damian wasn't one to care about small details like that. His mind was focused solely on the fact that he was proposed to, it was the only thought in his mind. His mind was both stagnant and turbulent, a strange string of thoughts without meaning running through his mind.

"Yes?" It came out much more inquisitive than he would have liked however he had spoken exactly what he thought. He was a naturally doubtful person, always scheming around to find the truth, so when faced with nothing but sincerity he couldn't help but freeze.

"Perfect! I mean, perfect." Coughing into her fist to hide the giddy grin she sported she hurriedly fixed her language to not seem overly excited. Damian and her had been side by side for nearly a decade and yet neither truly knew the other well. They were backward essentially.

"Mhm." Nodding in agreement without truly thinking about it his newly betrothed Queen blushed deeply, planted a kiss on his cheek, before hurriedly teleporting away. Holding a hand up to his cheek Damian stayed still for quite a long time.

It was only after what felt like an eternity that Damian calmed himself and teleported away before the magical defenses determined that he overstayed his welcome. His mind was full of thoughts so instead of his home he found himself in his personal haven.

"Damian? To what do I owe the pleasure?" Ajuka greeted Damian with a grin despite the surprise running through him. He had heard of Damian's changes through Sirzechs but to see him so dazed was a first.

"I'm getting married." Damian explained hazily. Ajuka's first instinct was to tell his nephew that his marriage was something he agreed to eight years ago but upon seeing the familiar ring on his finger that thought was replaced by the mischievous grin gracing his features.

"Who is the lucky lady? Is it Lady Ingvild as I assumed?" Ajuka inquired like a curious schoolboy, his excitement burning in his eyes as he recalled his bet with Sirzechs. He had bet on Ingvild being the first while Sirzechs remained staunch in his belief of Rias taking the lead.

"I still have two wishes right?" Completely ignoring his uncle's inquiry Damian asked a question that hadn't had much importance to either of them for years. As Damian's power eclipsed Ajuka's own he no longer needed his three wishes.

The first was used to protect Damian from any political backlash occurring from when he destroyed the Naberius clan but since then nothing has warranted their use. Damian himself could deal with almost anything. Anything but creation that is.

"That's correct." Replying with a gentle grin Damian's form was replaced by his mother's from decades earlier. He had always been close to her from youth to adulthood much like he was with her son yet only now did he truly see the resemblance. He was much more like his father.

"Can you make me a ring? One better than this one." Damian requested seriously yet there was not a trace of doubt in his eyes. Solomon had been a wonderful mage, of that there was no doubt, but Ajuka was in a tier of his own.

"Of course, anything for my nephew." Ajuka proclaimed proudly, his hand running through and ruining Damian's hair much like he did in the boy's youth. He had made his promise to Astros that he'd attend Damian's wedding and there was no way he would break that.

"Boss, you've got a package." Strutting into the room without a care in the word Marco placed the package onto his King's desk, well accustomed to the mountain of paperwork that lay in front of the man.

"Thank you." Damian spoke hurriedly, grabbing the package before Marco could even see him move. He thought he knew all about his king but apparently, he hadn't even scratched the surface. He never expected to see that kind of expression in his King's eyes.

Chuckling Marco left the room, leaving his intensely focused king to whatever was inside that package. Opening the package Damian's eyes widened upon laying eyes on the ring whose beauty was immense and whose power was even more so.

It was only three weeks after his request that Damian received the ring from the Green Satan, a much faster time than Damian had expected. Unlike how long it had taken, however, the ring was a marvel of modern magic.

Assumedly based on Damian's soul and abilities it had the ability to gather, purify, and transform the natural energy all around them into something Ingvild could use freely. It was arguably greater than Solomon's ring.

While it may seem like a fairly standard item in RPGs the very idea of the ring was difficult to conceptualize. Visualization was one of the most important factors of devil magic and also the greatest hurdle for people like Ajuka.

Smart people struggled to imagine a path to the impossible and he was no different. The gathering of natural energy was easy enough, the filtration difficult but not impossible, but the alteration was quite literally impossible until Damian came around.

"I didn't know you were paying so much attention." Chuckling softly, Damian closed the box and hid it away in his desk with more defenses than Lilith, the capital of the underworld. Damian had shown Ajuka how he altered his frequency only once and yet he replicated it seamlessly.

The difficulty wasn't only altering its frequency either. To take energy of a completely different type such as natural energy and transform it into demonic energy was something Damin didn't expect anybody besides himself to accomplish.

"You've outdone yourself, Uncle." Laughing lightly Damian felt giddy for the first time in a very long time. Or at least since he and Rias spent the night together. With this ring Ingvild would forever be able to summon her Balance Breaker, increasing her protection tenfold.

She didn't need it really but it would eventually become helpful, especially if the information he received from Rizevim was credible. If it was… even he may not be safe. He had thought he removed all chance of that happening but apparently, he was wrong.

"Regalzeva…" Murming softly, the name wiped the grin off his face immediately. ExE had found them.
