It has the ability create life as thought it was a measly feat. With its power it can destroy worlds and create civilisations. It exists everywhere, where you step, what you see and what you breath is part of it. One can say it's not only omniscient and omnipotent, but omnipresent as well. But what is It? A deity? No, it's a dungeon. ... A young man from earth has found himself reincarnated as a dungeon. In this new world, he is now but a child. Armed with nothing else but his genius creation capability, come watch him as he struggles to survive this world where his kind are treated as nothing but tools. "Hmm? Another group of adventurers is sent to close me down?" He laughed. "Clearly, they didn't understand when i killed all of their armies... wait, that boy has a good looking soul. Why don't I turn him into a slime?" From the deepest pits of the dungeons, terrifying creatures awoke as they had been ordered by the creature they live in. Be the strongest dragons living in the deepest levels of the dungeon, to the weakest goblins only known for being cannon fodder. Each of these creatures got up to greet the newcomer, because he ordered them to.
Seeing the new and incoming foe, the bigger kobold narrowed its eyes. It pushed the smaller kobold back with its long, single arm. The young kobold did not stand in protest; it went back and watched the two beings stand off.
Argghrr!
First, the kobold showed its fangs and did what sounded like a bark and a roar at the same time.
But the hobgoblin in front of it did not seem to be fazed. Of course, the main reason it was not was because of the orders the child kept giving it. Through the past five days, the hob-goblin has seen how strong it was. And as it saw none better than it, other hobgoblins aside, it believed that it was strong. It thus developed confidence in itself. confidence, which the child could use to control it.
Orders like 'you are strong,' 'you can kill it,' 'it's weak,' filled it's mind without it even knowing. Well, they weren't all orders, but they seemed to do the ordering part much better than direct ones.
So both the kobold and hobgoblin prepared to fight.
Among warriors of different races, not much communication is necessary. If first contact fails, they communicate with their fists. So...
boom!
The two creatures charged at each other. The hobgoblin raised its axe in preparation to hack its opponent. But the kobold did the absolute opposite. It reached out its hand towards the ground and grabbed a rock the size of its palm.
One must know that the kobold had very large hands, so the rock was at least 10 centimeters in diameter. It's human like hands and clawed finger tips gripped the rock perfectly. And just as the hob-goblin was still confused...
Whoosh!
Bam!
The kobold threw the rock. Accurately hitting the kobold on the head. The force of the rock was so great that the hobgoblin felt its head get forcibly jerked back. The sound of the rock hitting the metal helmet resonated in the darkening forest. shock everyone on the scene. Even the child was shocked at the powerful throw.
But the battle was yet to be won, so the child composed himself quickly and stared, ordering the goblin to look straight ahead. The order came, but a moment too late, as by the time the hob-goblin looked ahead, the kobold was right in front of it.
The mobile, with its sharp and long nails, clawed directly at the guts of the hobgoblin.
The claws went forward and scraped against the armor worn by the hobgoblin. directly piecing through it and drawing blood. The hobgoblin, who felt the pain, woke up instantly. It forced the already raised axe down towards the kobold.
The kobold who saw this seemed to have not expected the hobgoblin to retaliate too soon. So it jumped out of the way. But even so, it was a little too late. The axe slashed down with intent to dismember its opponent, but it was met with opposition.
Sluch!
The kobold had raised its arm and let it take the whole impact. Maybe it was because the attack wasn't well prepared or the kobold's were that strong, but the hob-goblin did not manage to dig too deep into the kobold's arm.
So although the arm was slashed deeply, it was not dismembered. The kobold thus jumped back, stepping away from the enemy. When it was a few meters away, it looked at its own arm and was shocked.
This was, of course, because, up until now, the kobold had never been against an enemy who had worn armor or used weapons before. Most of the enemies it had fought could be taken down in three moves: one rock throw, one or two slashes to the stomach, and a bite to the neck to finish it off.
But since the hobgoblin was wearing a helmet, its first attack did not do as much damage as it normally does. This led to it getting hurt.
Many thoughts flashed through the kobold's mind, but they all passed within a few seconds. In the end, the kobold decided on a course of action.
While it was still thinking, the hobgoblin was also thinking. But most of its thoughts were directed by the child. That's why the hobgoblin ignored his nearly gutted stomach and angrily charged at the kobold.
"Arghhhh!"
The kobold, though, did not charge forward like last time. It instead took a rock from the ground and properly aimed.
Bang!
Once again, the kobold hit the hobgoblin in the head. But with the help of the armor, the hobgoblin did not go down but continued charging forward.
The Kobold did not flinch. It turned and ran over to the closest rock it could find. Once it picked up the rock, it threw it towards the hobgoblin. Another bang was heard, but it was the same as last time.
At that point, the kobold noticed something. The hobgoblin's head was too hard. So hard that attacking with rocks just won't do. But the kobold has already attacked it before, so although the hob-goblin was sturdy, it should not be too much since it could draw its blood with an attack.
So the kobold made a smart move. It picked up another rock, but this time it did not aim for the head like it did last time. It threw the rock, aiming directly at the goblin's chest.
bom!
A thick and somewhat muffled sound was heard from the hobgoblin's chest. This time, the hobgoblin truly felt the pain. Although the attack was not fatal, it seemed like a few of them would.
The kobold who saw this was able to notice the same thing as the hobgoblin. So it went on and picked another rock nearby.
From the dungeon, the child watched as this scene unfolded.
"It seems that these kobolds have at least a moderate level of intelligence. They should at the very least be equal to a goblin's."
Bom!
The hob-goblin was once again hit with another rock. Multiple would soon pile up on the hob-goblin. In the end, due to its short stamina, the gob-goblin stopped chasing the kobold. But even then, the kobold stood in place. Not even thinking of taking the chance to get close.
"The hobgoblins are still slow, and their stamina is a bit too low. A weakness I have long seen but can't remove for the time being."
For a moment, the child regretted not giving the hobgoblin a shield. As with it, it could have at least blocked some of the incoming rocks. But up until now, no enemy has required the hobgoblins to use their shields. So the child decided not to get them entirely.
Because of this, it doesn't seem like the hobgoblin would be able to turn the tables anytime soon. In fact, with all the hits it was taking, it was likely to fall very soon.
"Luckily, though, winning the battle was never my intention."
A little further away from the fight, the smaller kobold looked on at the side. Once in a while, it would growl out some bark. Other than the other kobold, nobody could truly understand what it was trying to convey.
Sadly, while it was preoccupied with the ongoing fight, it failed to notice the green-skinned and yellow-eyed creature that stalked it from above.
...
So what do you think will happen soon?
Will the hobgoblin eat the kobold? will the child finally get a name?
