Testing

Waiting till everyone left the teacher approaches me and starts talking, "You have already read your paper so I know you realize that you are far above those your age, if you exceed expectations in the rest of your tests you can be pushed forward a grade as long as you can pass the base requirements in paper tests. My advice to you is study now as your performance today makes me think you will skip a grade."

The teacher and I head out where Thomas is waiting for me to head to dinner together, after eating with him, his fiancé, Tila, and Nali we head to the sparring room to practice before turning in for the day.

The next day I go through my classes once again and when physical training comes around again we head to a smaller building with many separate doors around the barely able to fit us all waiting room. "Today is reaction speed day everyone, hope you're ready." Groans go through the room and even Thomas looks uncomfortable at this training. 

"Same order for the obstacle courses yesterday for todays testing, since a newbie will be first lets see his enjoyment shall we. All you have to do is avoid the objects coming at you at ever increasing speed, once you are hit in a way deemed fatal or in a way that would make you unable to act you are out. Now all you line up from the left to right and head in when I tell you."

Going to the door farthest left I wait to hear the signal before heading in.

The room is well lit and a large square area the size of a medium sized apartment (American size because some of you get to small for it to apply) although I can see tiny holes around the room based on them the objects that will comes out will still be around the size of a pea.

Standing in the red square in the center with gems on the floor turning from red to green five seconds after I step on it.

With my senses and reaction speed enhanced by my energy to the max I can bear for a decent period I see a metal ball coming shooting out at the speed of a pea shooter, more and more started coming but I dodged them easily, even when the speed increased I had little trouble planning in which order to dodge the ever varying speed of the balls.

Getting up to the speed of an arrow it is stopped increasing in speed for about a minute before a thin needle shoots out the speed of a bullet barely dodging it I put my left arm up to take the hit form the metal ball that I couldn't avoid and bit by bit I got hit by the pea sized metal balls while trying to dodge the needles. Until a ball hits me in the Achilles heel area and the light turns red, my tests was over I had spent half an hour in the room but was covered in bruises and tired due to extreme tension from the amount of control and attention I had to pay to every detail to last that long.

Panting as I left the room I can see Thomas looking at me in wonder and even clap his hands at me, clearly I had performed just as outstanding as yesterday sitting on a seat I relax and wait for the others to finish.

Most last about five minutes the better ones last fifteen none make it past the twenty minute mark where the needles start appearing.

I can hear people murmuring and looking in my direction, apparently I stood out far more this time than last time due to how long I lasted. When everyone finished the teacher once more handed out papers with our results and looked at me with a serious expression.

It was clear he was reminding me of our talk yesterday, opening my paper I see a change in reaction speed.

Going back to shower and rest instead of sparring as the test earlier truly wore me out mentally I head down to eat and once more come back up to sleep.

Classes over once more we eat lunch and go to the same building again but this time we are on the left side of the building instead of the right side facing a new set of doors and the teacher has brought a group of people with him.

Everyone is tense and appear to be waiting for him to speak instead of talking with each other.

"As you who are used to this can tell this is sense control day and due to you increasing a year you will increase your sense control practice from one hour a week to one hour a day as you are now considered to have a large and stable enough mental realm to handle such training, but we need to see where you are to know where to start you out at from this point forward. This is an imperative test as the better your sense control is the better your ranking and standing will be from this point forward as being able to know what your opponent is doing the quickest and responding to accurate information is imperative if you want to get higher than the tenth floor and get above a D rank." He says solemnly with no jokes.

"We will do this in order like the last two times so newbie you need to know what will happen, they will tell you to activate a sense and perform an action slowly increasing the sense each time until you can no longer properly keep up with the things you are registering and then do this to all your senses until they know your limit. Push this test as much as you are able as it is the foundation for your future career choices."

Following a purple haired man into the first room on the left we come into a room with screens, headsets, an Item that looks like sand paper and a set of jars in two sizes one small and another larger one.

Sitting in the chair in the middle the man starts to speak, "we will test your sight first before blindfolding you to get the most accurate assessment of each of your senses before testing them all at the same time to see how much you can bear with them combined. We will begin immediately if you have no questions."

Shaking my head he turns on a tv and says, " we will put on deafening headsets and pictures will flash by the screen in ever increasing complexity and speed name the object you see as quickly as you can register it." 

And so the test began with little thought, as the pictures got faster and more complex I could last until it was a picture every millisecond and up to the complexity of a basic plumbing for the toilet blueprint.

"Now is your hearing I will blindfold you so you can solely focus on the sound, as soon as you register what the sound is say it like the sight test the sound will increase in complexity and speed and slowly the sound will become fainter and fainter, it is also a test on if you can remember the sounds of different monsters you have been tested on before if you can't remember the name just make the noise as accurately as you can."

Once more we begin, the first sound is one of a slime that I am ever so familiar with but by the time it is done it is the sound of a burrowing sand worm usually found at least twenty to thirty miles under thick rock in the sandy areas it is one of the deepest monsters that will still occasionally rise to the surface that lives and the dungeons they appear in requires you to track them down from a surface level most of the time.

"Next is your feeling ability, for this you will be blindfolded and deafened to allow maximum focus, this paper has words scrawled in it that get progressively smaller and less thick you have 5 seconds to feel the word if you can't figure out the whole word say what letter you can feel. Any questions if not lets begin."

I got as far as second from bottom row and with it barely being any writing on it, from that point on it got down to a thickness I can't even distinguish the difference between the item and the words.

"Next is taste you see these jars we will give you an ever decreasing taste and you need to distinguish it as accurately as possible if you do not know the food give us what you think it tastes like such as sweet, spicy, sour, or even creamy do it as accurately as possible you have ten seconds to taste and tell me you will be blindfolded and deafened to prevent other senses from interfering in the test, begin if no questions."

Getting only halfway through the jars I have never thought to train my tastes and it shows with my previous attempts being done to nearly the end and this one only getting halfway.

"Second to last is the smell one, like with taste it will be an ever decreasing scent if you can't identify the scent tell me what you think it smells like you have five seconds to describe it after smelling it, you will be blindfolded and deafened if no questions we will begin."

I do better this time around by getting about 75% before stopping, still worse then my others but better than tastes.

"Last is all senses at the same time, you will name what you see as well as hear while then naming the feel and then taste followed by smell. As soon as you are overwhelmed close you eyes and shout as loud as possible to stop to prevent to much at once you have thirty seconds each round to do so the test will ultimately be similar but some may look or smell one way but taste and smell another be sure to say the sense it is for as accurately as you can as they are meant to trip you up. If no questions lets begin."

Shaking my head I take a breath and release it focusing on my senses as much as possible while trying not to favor any one. I make it 75% through sight as well as sound, about 60% through feel, 50% through smell and only 20% through tastes.

It is clear which senses I was best with and which ones I struggled with, sitting there gasping in exhaustion due to mental fatigue I calm down and readjust to normal senses once more, taking me a good 5 minutes to readjust after such extreme practice. The tester sees I have finally relaxed and smiles at me before saying, "your test is finished please wait for the results given by your teacher to know how well you did."

He leads me to one of the benches outside and I sit down and take a small nap, being shaken awake by Thomas I see the teacher passing  out the papers, waiting till he gets to me he gives me a small smile as though highly pleased with me.

  Finally once everyone has theirs the teacher says, "this is not the be all end all if you put in time and effort you can increase your capability, while if you laze off due to a high grade you will potentially fall behind however some people have trouble tracking and keeping up with so much information at once it is why most adventurers make teams to make up in their lacking area. Do not think you need a high score in all senses having two above average senses is already enough to land you in B grade while being over outstanding in one while having the rest in average is able to get some into A tier. Learn what you can and cannot do and grow where you can. Now all of you off to bed."

With that we leave with all of us eating early dinners and promptly collapsing on our beds to sleep the last of our stress away.

Waking I shower, eat, and head to my classes that are finally starting to truly get into the stuff they will teach instead of simply talking over past stuff and what will be in the class. After finishing my classes I head to the new building to continue with our physical testing, this building doesn't have just my class but another one as well waiting for each person to enter for about five minutes before they leave.

"We will be testing energy amount and control" my teacher informs me, "they will tell you what to do inside so no need to worry as it can vary year to year the test given to prevent someone from getting any upside do to familiarity."

Sitting with the rest in waiting room chairs the next hour passes before our class is being called, unlike with the teacher they are calling based off names rather than ones ranking from before the break or lack of one. Unfortunately that means I am still first to go as two a's in my name means no one else can possibly be before me.

"Aadi Null." They call and I step in the door the blonde nurse is stepping out of who is calling me, entering to a room with a clear sphere and a box next to it I wait for her to explain.

" You will push your energy into this box along the pathways and fill the pathways up as much as possible when you step out of the pathways the test is over and you will then push your energy into the sphere until I say stop the fullness, how bright and what color of the sphere will tell me your grade, purity of energy and attribute. Any questions before we begin."

Shaking my hand I put it on the small clear gem on the box and slowly work my energy into the oscillating pathways that get more twisted and turned the further I get, I am able to get 95% through the box before I make an error.

Next is the clear sphere, placing my hand on it I push my energy into it and it cracks, jerking my hand back I look at the nurse who has an astonished look on her face.

Blanking her face she tells me to wait before leaving for about five minutes before she and a doctor return with a clear sphere twice the size of the previous one, "I am here to make sure of no potential mistakes or problems occur." The doctor says, placing my hand on the new sphere it lights up completely with a bright near blinding white color before cracking once more.

Silence reined in the room as the doctor looks at me and asks, "have you had previous testing done for this or any medical problems before awakening?" 

"I had Rapid Mental realm expansion until I awakened on my fifteenth birthday, I was nearly unable to move or properly function until then so I had to do a lot of catch up in the physical department while dropping my theory studies due to me already being fine in that area to catch up with those my age." I explained.

I can see the look of sympathy on the mans face as he most likely assumed what would happen to most others in that situation, if they didn't awaken as soon as possible it is no different than a death sentence.

"I see, we have few cases like yours come through as most families prefer to train and raise the ones like you personally with the highest grade person in the house, get them to their best potential as soon as possible to increase family standing and strength." The doctor explained, while the nurse sighs at this statement.

"Do I continue the tests or is there nothing I can do?" I ask.

"We will have to tests you at a proper hospital to get a full read, the next opening isn't for another week but you will be awarded S grade on both energy levels and control. I will personally come to you next week during an off period to take you." The doctor says and I relax as it is an existing problem if they already have a procedure for such event.

Going out of the room I see everyone staring at me both from my own class and the other one, the fact a doctor had been brought let them all know something had happened.

Sitting back on the seat with so many stares the test continue for 2 hours before all of us are finished. The teacher once more begins to hand out papers to everyone, I don't even need to read mine to know the result but open it otherwise to truly see the full scale of what I have accomplished since entering this world.

  Once the week was over the teacher would apply for me to skip a grade and join the class ahead of me. I would also enter the tower for the first time this coming Monday
