Is It Fate?

Adriana keeps pestering Damon about how he decided of appoint her as the head manager of the newly opened branch without speaking with her about it first. She was so sick and tired of seeing Tim's face but now he wants her to work in the same office with him. She thought luck was on her side but it turns out to be just one of those bad days. Damon on the other side has been trying his possible best to ignore her and talk about another topic but Adriana has been persistent and stubborn.

"Miss Maya! Could you please let's talk about something else?" Damon says. Adriana rolls her eyes as she stumps her right feet hard on the ground.

"Sir! I really want to know why you made such a decision without my consent. Please sir I'm no head manager I'm Adriana Maya your personal assistant. Please be informal with me." She says with a serious expression.

"Yes you are. I'm well aware but I just thought making you his boss would help lighten up your mood. I know he was your boyfriend." Damon says and Adriana gets shocked to the ground. ' unbelievable! How did he know that Tim was my boyfriend?' Adriana thinks in her mind.

"Are you wondering how I knew? Well.... I guess I know quite a lot about you. I hope you won't find me inconvenient." Damon concludes as he moves to working on his laptop. It took Adriana quite some times to make back to reality. She stares at her boss in disbelief. She wonders how he has always throw surprises in her way. First was how he ordered Hillary to give her a one week break with a three thousand dollars bonus. Second was the new job opportunity that he open up for her. And the last one that totally catches her off guard is how he says he knows a lot about her.

"I won't ask you to work there if you don't want to. But you'll still be the head manager and also my personal assistant. I need you near me." Damon says with a eyes that leaves Adriana totally confused. His eyes didn't speak about work it spoke of something that leaves Adriana startled because she couldn't understand and she doesn't want to misunderstand. Her heart keeps screaming at her to not let her head get in the way. She opens her mouth to talk but nothing comes out of it. The moment she has something to say her phone rings and cuts her words off abruptly.

"Excuse me sir ." She says as she rushes out his office to her desk which is just right in front of the door to Damon's office. She quickly picks her phone and her aunt screams at her through the phone.

"What have you done?! Why can't you do one thing right?! All you had to do was keep him between your legs but you didn't even let him through before you broke up with him." Her aunt says angrily through the phone.

"Aunty, he cheated!" Adriana says defensively.

"So what if he did? You guys aren't married yet! There was a high possibility that he would change! But you've ruined it all. I wish brother was alive then maybe he could stop you from ruining our family name. It's more than enough that your mother took out his property and ran off, but now I have to deal with you too. You'd better find a rich guy and stop munching off of me!!" She yells then cuts off the call not giving Adriana a chance to reply. She shuts her eyes close trying to suck in her pain. She wanted to fall in love but it seems Cupid doesn't want her too. Love they say it is a feeling that one cannot ignore and she has heard a couple of her friends say that it takes pains away. But it's the opposite fro her. Loving someone that cheated on her, replaying memories that keeps her up all night makes it a feeling that she cannot ignore. But love taking her pain away was a different case. The only thing love brought to her was pain. She understands why her aunt got angry when she learnt that she broke up with Tim. It's because Tim had a car and works at a good company and also has enough to feed a family once he has one. But she couldn't brush his mistakes off and keep staying be his side. She would have stayed if she felt that he had really loved her. Maybe it was her fate to keep loving and getting broken. She couldn't think of anything else to blame except for the fact that fate that keeps her from getting loved in return. Just at that moment when she was about to sit, Damon comes out of his office and Adriana stands at alert.

"Is there anything you need sir?" She asks with a low and unhappy voice. Damon could see the sadness written all over her face. ' what a silly grill.' he thinks in his mind.'

"I'm so happy about the opening of the new branch why don't you accompany and let's have some drinks." Damon says.

"I'm sorry but I won't be able to drink with you sir. I've quitted drinking." Adriana reies as she puts the files on her desk in orders.

"Alright then I'll do the drinking and you'll do the listening and driving. Wait for me, I'll be ready after working hours." He says and smiles sweetly before he leaves. Adriana watch his retreating back and wonders if Damon also treats his girlfriend the same way. If only the world could scream at her face saying that love existed no more then maybe she'd let love go and marry any rich fellow. She couldn't bare to live as her mother lived. That will only make her a coward. Her fate whether bad or good has to have something good in store for her.
