Chapter 1: That Night

Midnight, Shanghai, Jiangnan

In a mansion on the outskirts of Shanghai sat a middle age couple siting down at their dinner table worried looks plastered on their faces." Wang Lie what are we going to do they will be here soon, what are we going to do about Yong'er?" The woman asked her husband nervously as her eyes shifted over to the four year old child sleeping in the other room.

Wang Lie was silent for a second before he faced his wife. " I called 'them'." he said solemnly. " What do you mean them, You promised me that after I gave birth to Yong'er that you wouldn't have contact with them anymore. Did you lie?" Li Hua asked as she glanced harshly at her husband. Wang Lie could only sigh in his desperation he could only call on them, he considered himself retired when he left that year dead set on living a normal life with his wife. " Did I have a choice if we die who will take care of Yong'er. Who will love him. Who will raise him. Who will teach him. We are all he has. If we die at least he must live."

Li Hua was silenced, before she could say anything else Wang Lie jumped up.

"Who is there come out now!" He bellowed as he rushed out of the dinning room. Six shadows swiftly entered the mansion. There was no talking as a light flashed on Wang Lie's wrist and a sword appeared in his hand. " I don't know who you are but you are a fool if you think you can come and kill my family without me putting up a fight. Take care of our child." He said as he tangled with Shadowy figures in battle leaving the house. Li Hua also jumped into action as she ran into Wang Yong's room where she found huddled in the corner.

"Mum" He whispered. "I'm scared." he muttered tears rolling down his eye's.

"Shhhhh. Sleep" Li Hua took Wang Yong into her embrace as if to say good bye, Wang Yong could only struggle as his eye's begin to close as she took her necklace off and gave it to Wang Yong. " Be well my child." Li Hua said as she felt a tear slide down her eyes as she left the house searching for her husband.

Several yards away from the mansion Wang Lie stood in the clearing sword in hand and several wounds covering his body, four of the shadowy figures stood surrounding him. " Indeed worthy of the title Holy Sword Wang Lie." one of the shadows said in a menacing tone looking at his two fallen comrades. "However this is the end of.." Before he could finish anything is head was chopped off!!!

" How dare you threaten my family" Li Hua shouted as she appeared out of thin air.

" Have you taken care of Yong'er?" Wang Lie asked not at all concerned about his own injures.

"Yes, they will not find him for sometime." She reassured.

As the they stood together in that clearing words need not be spoken between them. However the peace would not last as tens of shadows descended on the clearing surrounding the two. "Hahaha." Wang Lie Laughed out loud. " I am proud that you had to go to such lengths to kill me. Well dear we can't keep the king of hell waiting." In that field outside of Shanghai the husband and wife pair eventually passed away under the siege of tens of experts. Fortunately they were unable to find Wang Yong anywhere in the mansions leaving their mission only half complete.

...

Several Hours Later.

After the shadows had scoured the place they left the mansion without finding Wang Yong. Not even a minute after they left three more shadows appeared in the surrounding area of the mansion where they found the husband and wife couple hand in hand on the ground. Several more dead bodies surrounding them.

" Looks like we were too late." A women's voice cut through the air as she landed next to the three hold Wang Yong who was desperately clutching a necklace as if his life depended on it. Which it did at the time this necklace was the reason that the other assassins could not find him earlier. " Well what are we going to do about him we can't bring him back." This time a man's voice came out." Why not? I can't just leave my little nephew all alone." She said hugging Wang Yong.

The male was clearly troubled about what to do next, he didn't want to leave him alone however his life would be in danger were they to take him back. Not to mention the several rules they would have to break. " I'll take care of this you guys head back." Another shadow said, all the shadows looked at the one speaking. " But?" The women tried to protest. " This is an order. Remember when you begged me to help I told you that you had to listen to all my commands. " I know." The lady could only give up in desperation as she repentantly handed the boy over and flew away.

" You guys can also leave." The other shadows not willing to disobey disappeared in a flash.

The man looked down at the boy and the pendant he clutching in his hand. It was shaped like a pear blossom tree with several independent beaches each holding several small stones. The man took five of them leaving only one embedded in the trunk faintly glowing. " This should ensure no one can find you. Until you are ready to find them."

Swish!

The man disappeared from the clearing and reappearing in front of the Shanghai Orphanage where he knocked and left Wang Yong at the front door. (Cliche I know)
