Dragon Ball Z: The Core

What if Gohan had a twin sister with the soul and memories of someone who had watched the Dragon Ball Z TV show? That's Hanna, and her goal is to protect Earth. MC is going to attempt to manipulate the canon. This means that even after she gets powerful, she'll be hiding her powers. (This is just a pet project of mine. Don't expect updates to be too regular, and while I have a general idea of where I want the plot to go, I haven't set a plan in stone for it. While the plot will follow the same arcs as the TV show, not all of the movies will be incorporated. By the way, this is MY INTERPRETATION of the canon, so not all information in the story will be completely correct when compared to the official canon.)

Ch. 3: The Time Chamber

I didn't bother suppressing my power anymore, as I blasted across the sky. I had a specific spot in mind for my destination. Somewhere that I needed to go to train as hard as possible.

"Master Korin?" That's right. I went to Korin tower first, for Senzu beans.

"Who're you?"

"My name is Hanna. I'm Goku's daughter."

"That actually explains a lot. I sensed something weird going on down on earth a little bit ago, figures Goku's involved." Korin sighs.

"Dad died. It's a long story, but I'm here for some Senzu beans."

"Goku's dead!!!?" shocked, Korin trips over his own feet, before continuing, "What could kill Goku?"

"I'm sure someone else will fill you in later, Master Korin. For now, can I have a few beans?" I ask impatiently.

"So your dad dies, and you immediately go to my tower… For beans?"

"Someone stronger than the guy dad died to stop will be here in about a year, so I'm going to train by myself. I need Senzu beans for that." I explain.

"You're an impatient one, aren't you? Not very respectful, either. I can scrounge up a half dozen beans, but that idiot Yajirobe ate the rest. Will that be enough?" Korin hands me a bag.

"More than. In fact, keep this one in case someone else needs it. Thank you, master Korin." I bowed to him.

"So, your father already taught you everything he learned from me, huh?"

"Something like that. I need to go, now."

"Kid, be careful. You may have inherited your father's strength, but you should be careful to keep that anger you're holding there in check. It'll burn you from the inside out." Korin advised me.

"I know, master Korin. Thank you for the advice." Seeing my dad die would probably have been enough to turn me into a Super Saiyan if I were stronger, and the rage wasn't currently showing any signs of abating, so I thanked Korin and flew off. This time, towards the lookout directly above.

"Goku's daughter? What are you doing here?" I ignored Kami's questions after I landed, running right past him with all my speed. If Kami and Mr. Poppo's power levels were around 200 or so right now, then mine would be nearly 15 times higher than theirs. They couldn't even follow me with their instant-motion techniques as I practically blinked past them. After that, I sent my ki through the lookout like a mist until I found what I was looking for, which didn't take long. As soon as I found the door to the time chamber, I practically flew inside before locking the door behind me.

In the anime, the time chamber isn't mentioned at all until the cell saga, but it's a proven fact that Goku spent a few weeks in there as a child during his training, just like he spent some time dealing with young Roshi in the pendulum chamber.

The chamber is essentially its own dimension, where time moves around 365 times faster than it does in the outside world, but the tradeoff is that the temperatures are hellishly bad outside of the safe house, the gravity is ten times worse, and the space itself is pretty much endless.

As it stood right now, the official rules to the chamber made it so that you couldn't spend more than a single year inside the chamber, and it could only be used twice in a lifetime, but after it gets broken and replaced after the Buu saga, I'm pretty sure that both of those restrictions disappear, since Vegeta uses it twice during Dragon Ball Super, both for more than a single year's time (though it's entirely possible that he simply distorts space when he wants to leave, like Buu did).

As it stood, though, that meant that I had two years to accomplish all the goals I have for my time in the Chamber before I was locked in.

"Let's see… What do I have here?" The first thing that I did was check the rations.

As a Saiyan, I did eat far more than a normal person. Even figuring that in, I noted that there would be enough for me to easily survive here for ten years. Pretty impressive storehouse, actually. They had just about everything that you'd ever need, in fact.

I took all the plants lining the place out of their pots and lined the pots up. Sorry, Kami, but I needed them more. Once they were both empty and lined up, I set them inside the entrance hall of the safe house, filled one up with dirt, and planted a Senzu bean.

I wanted more than a handful of Senzu beans, so I had decided beforehand to try cultivating my own during this year.

I had five tries, and from what I understood, cultivating Senzu beans probably only took three or four months at the most, so if I experimented, I was hoping that I wouldn't need any magic soil or special water to get them to grow.

As it turns out, Senzu beans only take a few days to start sprouting. If they turn out bad, you know right away, because their energy feels weird. As a result of that, I was on my third plant, but I had finally gotten it right.

Korin probably did have a special way of cultivating the beans, as well as special tools that I don't, but I had learned something. Senzu beans have energy.

This seems like a pretty basic thing, but it means that their energy can be interfered with.

Essentially, by giving the Senzu beans a certain amount of a certain type of energy, I could influence their growth and keep them alive, even without Korin's special tools. They still needed water, but I had one plant of beans that was almost ready for harvesting, and two plants that were a little over a month from being ready.

Cultivating them by energy also helped me practice my energy control, so I made sure to take care of the plants every morning before doing anything else.

My days weren't exactly what you'd call fun by any means.

I'd wake up at around 6:00 A.M, when I'd take care of the Senzu beans before my breakfast, which was usually pretty disgusting since it was just easy-to-store foods left in the chamber. After breakfast, I'd spend half of my day working on an energy technique, and the other half increasing my base specs and training my reflexes in pretend fights, using up every ounce of my energy in the hellish temperature until I couldn't even move anymore, then I'd collapse right inside the door of the safe house and repeat it all the next day.

By month three, I was incomparably stronger than I had been when I went in. In fact, I decided that I was strong enough to try to become a Super Saiyan.

The day I made the decision to try, I went through my usual routine of feeding the Senzu beans and eating breakfast before going outside. Once I was outside, I'd normally meditate, but today I stood up in the fighting pose that I had decided on.

The problem with me becoming Super Saiyan was a pretty simple one at this point. I was certain that it wasn't power, but rather emotions. No Universe 7 Saiyan had ever managed to go Super Saiyan for the first time without being in the most focused, angry state of their entire lives before.

Goku's had come when Frieza killed Krillin, Vegeta had been so near death that he had stopped caring about his rivalry with Goku at all, and the list went on, but there had been one Saiyan that had managed to do it without being intensely angry, so I followed her example.

I focused all of my energy into a spot right behind my core, holding it there with such intensity that I didn't have the energy left to even yell. As I did so, I could feel the energy changing, becoming more pure somehow.

Honestly, it was extremely exhausting, but I kept going until it finally worked. My hair turned golden, and the power inside me flared up, incomparable to before. Even my senses were on overdrive. It felt amazing! In three months, I had become Earth's first Super Saiyan.
