Explanations

Cooler and I walk into the Med Bay, seeing Broly, Raditz, and Vegeta all getting their vitals checked by the medical staff.

"Zyleth?" Vegeta says in confusion.

Him calling out my name caused the other two to look up and see me standing there beside Cooler, their eyes widening in surprise at the sight of me.

"Brother? What are you doing here?" Raditz asked.

"I don't know. Why don't you ask Vegeta?" I replied, looking over towards the former Prince.

They both follow my gaze and look at Vegeta, whose face grows a bit annoyed at the sudden attention.

"What the-- How am I supposed to know why... he's..." He trailed off softly, the reason slowly dawning on him. "...My mother called you, didn't she?"

"Got it in one." I tell him with a teasing smirk.

Vegeta sees my smile and rolls his eyes at me, not having the energy to put up with my staggering amount of charisma at the current moment.

Or any moment really.

"Go ahead and laugh it up." He says.

Before I could respond, Cooler steps in between us and says, "As amusing as Zyleth's goading would be, I'm more interested in what happened to you all down on the planet's surface."

"I'll tell you what happened!" Raditz suddenly yelled before pointing his finger towards Broly in an accusatory manner. "This asshole nearly killed us!"

Seeing Raditz's angry expression, Broly's eyes shifted towards the ground and he almost seemed to shrink into himself.

The guilt radiating from him was immense.

"That much is completely evident." Cooler replied in an uninterested tone. "What I want to know is the cause, not the outcome."

Vegeta and Raditz looked towards each other for a moment before looking back towards Broly, their gazes inquisitive.

"We don't know the cause" Vegeta said.

"Yeah, all we know is that he suddenly attacked us for no reason." Raditz added.

Cooler look towards the tall Saiyan, his eyebrow raised as he waited for an explanation.

Broly didn't say anything, his eye fixed firmly in the ground. It was a strange sight, seeing Broly look so... defeated. Especially since he almost damn near killed me and the others just a few hours ago.

It seems that Broly, his actual true strength was a lot higher than originally anticipated. I always thought his actual potential was staggering, but not by this much. Couple that with the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation, and we have an unholy matrimony forged in the deepest pit of hell.

"Are they good to go?" I asked one of the doctors.

"I recommend rest, but other than that, they're fine." He responds.

I nod and look towards Vegeta and Raditz. "You heard the man. Go."

They turn and stare at me with confusion, but I give them both a glare which immediately shuts down whatever protest they were about to spew.

The two left, and I turn towards Cooler.

"Give us the room."

He looks between Broly and I, his brow furrowing before giving a curt nod.

"I want a full report on what happened." He says before leaving the Med Bay.

With everyone else now gone, I kick a crate over next to Broly and sat down beside him.

"How've you been?" I asked him.

"Fine." He answered simply.

"Everything been alright since I've left?"

"Yes."

I nod and let the room fall into silence.

I know Broly. He's not going to talk about the situation until he's ready to, so I'll just have to wait until he is.

It's a little funny.

The Legendary Super Saiyan is the most soft spoken Saiyan I've ever met. A very stark difference between him and his berserker-ish personality whilst transformed.

"How have you been...?" He asks me.

I look and see that he was glancing at me with a bit of curiosity. "Good. Traveled to some places. Met some... interesting people."

He nods and the room goes silent again. It stays that way for about ten minutes before he mutters something softly under his breath.

"What was that?" I asked.

He stays quiet for a few seconds before he says, "I saw you die..."

His words caused me to jerk back in surprise.

"You saw me what?" I asked.

"I saw Frieza... I saw him... torture you... kill you..." He says.

I honestly didn't even know what to say for a few seconds.

I mean, what the hell?

"Broly, what do you mean by that? What do you mean you saw me die?" I asked.

He stays silent for a moment, a very long moment before answering.

"Vegeta, Raditz, and I split up to search for the plant. After a few hours into the search, I found it... but when I pulled it up, it sprayed... I... I don't know, it sprayed something in my face... It made me dizzy and I passed out..." He suddenly stops and takes a deep breath before continuing on with his story. "When I woke up, the star had already gone down, and I couldn't see anything... I lost my Scouter when I passed out and I couldn't find it, so I decided to wait until morning... But..."

He goes silent and ask, "But what?"

"I heard screams... from the darkness... They were calling out to me... begging for me to help them..."

"And you went searching for them, didn't you...?" I asked, to which he nodded.

"I did... I searched for hours, but I couldn't find anything until... until I saw an eye floating in the water..."

An eye?

"When I looked up... I saw someone locked in chains... one of his arms was gone... It... He..."

"It was me, wasn't it?" I asked.

He doesn't respond, but he doesn't have to.

Seems as though whatever it was that the plant sprayed on him had caused him to have some very vivid hallucinations.

"It was Frieza... He and--"

"You don't have to keep going... I can guess what happened next..." I told him.

If the death of Paragus caused him to transform into his Legendary state in the canon, it wasn't very hard to imagine what happened to the me he saw whilst hallucinating.

Although, with Paragus it was just a corpse...

He was actively hearing and seeing me get tortured to death.

"I'm sorry." I told him as I placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

He tenses as I makes contact, something that causes my brows to furrow.

"It wasn't your fault..." He said softly.

"No, but this is." I respond.

He turns to me with a questioning gaze and I place two fingers on his forehead. Not even a second later, he drops to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

"Come in. I know you two are out there." I yell out.

The door opens and I see Vegeta and Raditz come in with serious expressions.

"I'm guessing that you both heard that?" I asked.

They both nod and Vegeta looks to Broly and asks, "What did you do to him?"

"I put a mental block in his head. When he wakes up, as far as he knows, the last twenty-four hours never happened." I told him.

"Why would you do that?" Raditz asks.

"Do I really need to explain it you?" I asked him back.

He looks towards Broly and his face grew solemn.

"No..."

If I let Broly remember today, I have no doubt that he would probably cease to function as he would normally. He's fifteen fucking years old.

Saiyan or not, having your brother screaming out for you to help when you can do nothing but listen to him get tortured isn't something that he's going to have to work through. At least not when I can lighten the load altogether...

It's better for him to just forget that today ever happened than to live with it.

At least for a long while...

"Think you guys can take put him in one of the bunks?" I asked after letting out a small sigh and standing up on my feet.

They nod and proceed to pick Broly up from the floor.

"Hey." I call out before they could leave, both turning to face me. "It should go without saying, but don't mention anything about today around him. I put a block, I didn't erase the memory. Pick at it enough and he will start to remember."

"When did you learn how to do that?" Raditz asks.

"Does it really matter? Just don't go poking the wall." I tell him, dodging his question.

"And what happens if he remembers?" Vegeta asks.

I look at them both with a serious gaze before walking out of the room.

"Just hope that it doesn't come to that." I said as I walked right passed them.

I walk down the ship's hallway, heading towards the Control Room to give Cooler the run down. It probably wasn't necessary as he probably overheard it from the cameras, but it really wasn't a big issue.

I couldn't help but feel drained by this entire situation, even though physically I felt completely fine.

Maybe I shouldn't have made him forget...

Maybe him forgetting was the best course of action...

I did just put in a block. It's not like I got rid of the memory altogether. Maybe one day I'll remove it and he can then just put everything behind him.

I don't know...

Christ, since when did Dragon Ball have moral dilemmas like this? Then again, I don't really think that this can constitute as Dragon Ball as I remember.

The one thing that I can't seem to come to terms with is how strong Broly was.

Astral said that I should've been equal to Broly, and I don't think he's one to lie. But I suppose that I don't really know much about him to begin with.

This entire thing was just giving me a migraine.

It's not as if it matters either way. My goal remains the same no matter how much things change within the universe.

And that's to get stronger.
