"Yes you are my child, the elves are pure species almost like spirits that are the purest in existence almost similar to God's. That is why the demons were threatened and decided to plot against you"

"But you're a Goddes, can't you take care of the demons yourself?"

"My child I am a Goddess of life, thus I cannot take one."

"And we Goddess and Gods alongside the demons have used up all of our powers. The demons went back to the past and ordered their creations to kill all the elves. As for me, all I can do is to save you, the last elven male."

"You mean aside from me, all the other male elves are dead? Why didn't you save them? And you only save me?"

"My child we cannot directly interfere. All we can do is send our spirits and communicate with our descendants. As for you, you were poisoned before setting out. I only managed to heal you before you die because you are near the world tree, thus I asked for it to heal you however looking at you now, looks like it misunderstood me. And as for your memories since your soul is the same it managed to merge with your human reincarnation"

"what do you mean?" Lawrence asked

"the world tree didn't only heal you, it also linked you to itself. As long as you are near the world tree, you cannot die"

"yes and no, once you leave the barrier you can still die" *the goddess chuckles*

"You will live as long as it lives, however, once the world tree dies, so will you"

"Goddess, can the world tree even die?" Lawrence asked with a shocked face

"Yes, the world tree absorbs the essence of being to live such as spirits, elves, and dryads. In return, it protects them by forming a barrier that prevents outsiders from entering this village and the land surrounding it"

"But if what you say is true Goddess, how did the elves go extinct?" Lawrence asked with a curious expression

*sigh* the goddess sigh

"Well, it happened a few days ago. To celebrate the coming of age ceremony of young elven men, all of them including the old and young went to my shrine, the palace in the sky. However little did they know that the demons had been waiting for them there. And once all of them were inside, the demons started attacking them. Elves are pure beings, very few of them know how to fight. Thus they all got killed down to the last man. Those who got killed by demons will get tainted by their darkness, so they can no longer reincarnate." The Goddes said with a heavy heart.

Palace in the sky? I don't remember reading it from any ancient books. It must have been destroyed a long time ago

"Young are right child, although this is the main elven village, there are also smaller settlements of elves near this village. So I hope you can bring all the elven women into this village. The presence of elves strengthens the world tree and along with it its barrier that has been protecting this village"

I see, that's what must've happened to the elves in the past. Since there were no men in the area, the elf's numbers started to dwindle little by little along with the weakening barrier protecting this village. Since elves are peace-loving, they probably didn't know how to fight not to mention hunt monsters. And a hundred years from now the monster's numbers must have reached an astonishing amount and started attacking the elves after the barrier could no longer protect them from it.

How did I manage to get this memory of being a human? Does this have something to do with it also being me? I should ask the Goddess about this

"yes you are right child, normally the human you should remember the elven you. However, when it comes to your soul, the elves have bigger and purer souls compared to humans, a human body will not be able to handle your elven soul. You will explode and die"

F*ck that's scary i haven't even said anything. so I guess that's why I feel like this. The pain in my body is not because of the colourful mushroom but because of the merging of my elven soul and human.

"You are a right child, I will entrust you the fate of the entire elven race. You are the last elven man. As your creator, I hope you will not disappoint me" the Goddess said with a smile

"Thank you for bringing me back goddess, I promise to live up to your expectations. I will build a kingdom greater the any human kingdom I've been to" I mean I will create the biggest harem any king ever had.

"I can hear your thoughts you know* The goddess smiled awkwardly

"Anyway, it's not like it's false, all the elven women here now belong to you. But I hope you take care of them properly. As you know most of them just lost their loved one"

"you can count on me on that goddess. I will take care of them all" Lawrence smiled

"My child, when you wake up. Go to the world tree in your village and eat its fruit. It will contain some of my spiritual essence. It will help you see how we goddesses, gods, and demons see the world. Then tell the other elves to eat its fruit too, I will impart some of my knowledge along with the world tree into those fruits.

Hmm is it just me or everything is becoming blurry

"Thankyou goddess Esmeralda." Lawrence smilled sincerely
