Devourers of the World

Currently suspended. Will I return? I dunno. Eguru, a 21 year old man suddenly gets transported into another world after being in a void for 700 years. Not knowing what he was supposed to do in that new terrain he soon enough figured out he was what higher beings called a "Devourer". Their job was to devour corrupted worlds and reset their history. However, this journey turned out to be... Note: The cover has been "made" and edited by me. I only took two artworks and merged them together.

"Oh, he is on vacation right now huh.. This is bad." Verzo said as he stared at his phone. "Who're you talking about?"

Verzo put his phone away and looked like he had no idea what they were supposed to do now. He let out a sigh. "I was trying to contact one of my friends who's insanely rich as he could've picked us up with his private jet but..-"

'Did I hear that right just now?!' Eguru was astonished but tried to not make a weird ass face. "A private jet?!"

You could hear his astonishment. "Yeah, he has like two of those." He looked at his friend and realized something. "Oh right, you've never seen any kind of vehicle here right? We only have horses or flying vehicles. As of now they haven't come up with a proper way to get moving on ground." Verzo explained.

'They've invented jets and planes but not even one functioning car yet? What the hell...'

The thought of this was actually silly. Did they really think it was easier to invent some flying machine rather than a machine with tires and an engine? Well, they probably did think so.

"Soo, how are we going to get away from here now? We don't have any methods to move. You're the only one that can walk right now." Verzo was helpless.

"I mean... Depending on how heavy you are I could carry you around. It's not like I'm some dude who chilled on the couch all day long."

"Don't even bother trying. My ribs still aren't really the way they should be and if you carried me I'd probably fucking die because of the pain", he laughed.

Both of them have gone silent at this point. It was nothing but a drag and they were slowly getting tired of this.

Then, Eguru remembered the idea he had earlier. Was he able to construct a platform he could drag Verzo along with? Theoretically it was possible. But practically? He never had to craft something like this.

Telling Verzo about it first he made sure it actually was a good idea which could work. Verzo actually believed this was the only option for them left and tried to explain what materials in a forest were suited best for such a task. They couldn't be too picky about materials as there wasn't much to choose from anyways.

This was heavy work that took Eguru around two days and as he was almost finished he made sure everything was done correctly because he wouldn't want to mess up the last step. Fortunately his shadow energy was generous enough to help him chop down trees and make logs out of them which then were used to build something like a wooden raft. He still didn't know how to use that power on purpose though. As lucky as he was he was able to use it two times by now.

Below the wooden structure he attached some slippery but robust plants to make the platform actually move on the ground.

A few minutes later he was done. Verzo hopped on and Eguru started dragging him along with ropes he found in Verzo's backpack.

Finally their journey to Akuta could continue. If they made it there in time or alive was another question. Also in his condition Verzo wasn't able to participate in the festival anyways. Sad truth.

They spent almost a week not getting anywhere and now they were moving. Slowly. At this rate it would take them another day to reach Akuta.

Verzo always gave Eguru directions so he wouldn't get lost. Having traveled a few kilometers it was about to turn night again. Luckily they left the forest and now were on an open field.

'Wait...' Eguru turned around. "Are you sure you want go rest here? What if wild animals or beasts come here? We'd be helpless against them."

Normally that'd be the case but when he heard the following words he understood. The fields they were in were protected by the god of wind Anemoi.

Those were he words the young man spoke. Eguru was curious though. "Do gods actually exist here? Or is it another thing related to religion and culture?"

In his world believes were something related to religion and didn't matter much as creatures like gods, angels and devils didn't exist in his point of view. He never experienced anything paranornal or something which made him believe god existed.

"Hmmm, from what I've learned and experienced 'till now they are indeed real. Each god is attached to an element and chose to protect certain lands in this world. This field is one of them and is actually called ''Anemo's whisper of wisdom'' as some people reported they heard Anemoi's voice through the wind. But that's something I can't be sure of to be honest."

It was interesting to just listen to his buddy talk. He learned a lot about this world and found the backgrounds of it way more fascinating.

In exchange Verzo also asked him things about the place he came from. Even though he had to change some things in his story he still talked about it for long before they finally went to sleep.
