Pain of Loss

Otto couldn't hold himself back as he watched his love slowly sink into the jaws of the Earth eater.

"How is this possible, something like this shouldn't be here" the chief was in a complete loss of words as he watched the Earth eater erupt from the ground. This was because the Earth eater one of the most terrifying mutations that occurred in the time mana entered the planet was not supposed to be here. The Earth eater is the mutation of the earth worm that was previously harmless as now they were one of the few disasters that had the potential to reach the Alpha rank as their growth is unhindered. The prefer to live in desert as the loose sand their makes the environment easy for them to thrive in, but they can be found in other regions of the planet if they decide to move to hunt as they can move unhindered deeper within the earth. The truly strong ones don't need to leave as they can grow as long as a hundred kilometers or even longer as they can easily locate their food. Their exoskeleton is so hard the once killed they can be made into defensive relics and their regeneration is one of the best out there. But their most terrifying feature is their more which makes up their head that is a wide as a tunnel made up round rows of moving saw-like teeth. The teeth make a grating sound as though they were made of metal as anything that enters is either ground to paste or dust. This was the terrifying disaster that had entered the village through the ground that stood grandly at 60 meters as it completely dwarfed everything. This Earth eater was at stage 5 and the waves of energy it released was enough to freeze anyone weaker. The barrier that seemed like a solid shield for the villagers broke apart as though it was as fragile as glass. The chief and two others shot up to go confront this disaster in a losing battle. The disasters outside poured in as they began to level everything in their path.

Otto who was at the center watched as the lives of the people he had known all his little lives were being taken by disasters, he was on his knees as his dad ran to him and shook him out of stupor "Otto snap out of it, I need your help" his father said which put a bit of life in the boy's face.

Mathias was a great fighter as he killed disasters left and right with his pole like relic, he carried his son on his back as he swung his staff in different directions killing various disasters that came close, some he couldn't kill in one hit but that wasn't his concern as he just had to carry his kid and run. After running some kilometers away with the aid of his relics to help give him a head start ahead of the disasters, he landed close to a tree and placed his son on the ground. Otto who could still see the battle going on between the chief and two others in the air as one of the fighters just got ate as the chief went in for another attack again.

"Hey focus" his father said handing him a bracelet "I need you to enhance this for me, it would help me concentrate on the rushing disasters" looking at his father's face with all the injuries that he had gotten and even with his relics that he was sure had run out of energy felt the need to help his father more as if just a little bracelet like this can give his dad a chance, then he would take it. He held the bracelet in both hands as a bright milky light shown over it as the light became even stronger than how it was the first time, he used it. His father seeing this just smiled as he looked at his son with pride.

"Dad, here you go I am done" he said stretching his hand with the bracelet to give him, but that's when his dad grabbed the bracelet and wore it on his arm and pressed a button causing a bright force field to appear round him in his shock Otto was speechless;

"You really did a good job there my son, previously this would have been able to stop any stage three beast but I am sure with the brightness it can hold out a bit if faced with an attack from a stage five and it looks good on you son. You might be thinking how would this help me, well I have already lost your mother, I can't afford to lose you too so I need to have all my focus on this coming fight as your safety is my priority, besides never underestimate the love of a parent" saying this Mathias began to fight the arriving disasters as they started to overwhelm him slowly with numbers, the evil eyed nut cracker using their speed to really torture him until a bird like disaster flew in and impaled him in the head dragging out a part of his brain as it flew away , Mathias fell on his knees and struggled to turn back when a flat faced ape pounded him to the ground smashing his body. Otto was in shock seeing all this happen in front of him as the disaster began to pile on top of him as they sent attacks towards him but it was futile as it couldn't even generate a single ripple on the shield.

This continued as Otto watched how the chief as his last warrior fell to the Earth eater, he knew it won't be long before he would end up in the jaws of the vile beast, but in all his regret about being unable to do jack due to his strength, he felt a feeling of relief knowing he would soon be on his way to meet them.

BANG

Like a scene out of a movie or something the massive head of the Earth eater was cleanly sliced off as it was cleanly sliced off and moments later caught on fire. Massive arcs of flames were seen floating midair as they descended cleanly killing every beast present.

The sight was unbelievable as the horde that brought calamity to his village was wiped clean by an attack.

"Maybe the continents elite troops have finally arrived" Otto said as he began to make his way to the village but as he was walking, he passed a young charming man with long fiery red hair whose aura alone made him stop in his track until he had gone away carrying a long sword at his back. "Who was that man" Otto couldn't help but ask himself as he walked towards the village.

"Hey looks like we have a survivor" a person dressed as a medic shouted as soon as he saw the boy enter the vicinity.
