The Mission, Michael's Resolve And Lucifer's Side Objective

At the front of the base, a group consisted of individuals stood there, quietly.

"Bang!"

Behind them, the base's thick iron door had already firmly closed, locking them out.

The group of four were Lucifer, Michael, Violet and Oliver. After given the weapons, they were immediately chased out of the base without a hint of remorse.

Violet who was the only lady amongat them stood quietly beside Michael. It seems she was sorting protecting from him. It was understandable considering the fact that this mission was going to be extremely dangerous. The wilderness itself is filled with unknown dangers and people die everyday from unknown reasons. It would be considered if half of their corpse were to be found.

The content of the mission might be easy, but they were heading into the wilderness, the dangers in there couldn't even be estimated!

Lucifer's face was expressionless. He just wanted to complete the mission as quickly as possible. He had fed the last Red-eyed rabbit the shriveled finger, he couldn't wait for it to evolve to level-four and consume its flesh to increase his evolution point. Thinking about this excited Lucifer.

As for the missions details, they still have no idea what it was as they weren't debriefed back at the base.

On cue, Michael grabbed the mission scroll from his bag and unrolled it. The details of the mission was then revealed to them.

The mission was simple as expected. It was only a recon mission. They were required to investigate a secret cave dozens of kilometers from the Base.

Half a year ago, the cave which was a secret lab for Enchanted Lands Base was then shut down due to lack of funds.

But twenty days ago, an abnormal situation had occurred at that specific area. Two people who went there to hunt for Black-mices, a group of weak level-1 beast had gone missing, and there were bloody torn overalls found on the scene with claw marks on them.

The secret lab was then suspected to have been overrun by a group of Black-mice. Their mission was to confirm if there really was an infestation of Black-mice in the area.

Lucifer memorized the details of gbe mission and then started to think about it. The mission may not be as simple as it sounded. Two people had died at that area which signify a significant amount of danger. If they weren't careful, they might also lose their lives.

Level-1 creatures were usually seen a two kilometers from the base. Lucifer had not dared to go that far before, but now he was forced to move a dozen kilometers for a mission.

As the headed deeper into the forests surrounding the base. After twenty minutes of walking, Michael suddenly started speaking.

"It's only a recon mission. Therefore, there's no need for the entire team to participate. One person is enough to complete the mission."

Both Oliver and Violet retreated backwarda in fear. Was Michael planning on forcing one of them to execute the mission?

Lucifer's brows wrinkled and his expression turned heavy but before he could say a word, Michael spoke.

"I alone is enough to complete the mission." With that, he strapped in his sniper and turned to leave.

Both Oliver and Violet heaved a sigh if relief. Violet but her lips nervously. She was a bit hesitant whether to follow Michael since she had been planning on depending on him from the beginning. If the rumors were right, he was also a level-1 genetic soldier therefore, it was safer staying with him.

Ultimately, she remained standing, choosing not to follow him in the end. Since he had said he was going to complete the mission for them why would she risk her life following him towards danger?

Oliver's train of thought weren't too far off from hers. Since Michael had decided to execute the mission on his own for the group, there wasn't a need to follow him any longer.

Naturally, he was afraid of death. Who wasn't? As long as he could find somewhere to hide until Michael finishes the mission, he would be able to preserve his life.

"Let's go find somewhere to camp. We aren't that far from the base so we should be safe." Oliver suggested.

This suggestion was sound and Violet nodded at it. They then turned to the last member of their group Lucifer.

Of course they have heard of the legendary chicken of the base who did everything to avoid danger. It wasn't strange that he was amongst their group. It would be strange instead if he wasn't.

Suddenly, Lucifer started heading towards the path Michael had taken.

"Eh? Is he trying to...?" Violet asked with slight astonishment.

Oliver frowned, he quickly obstructed Lucifer's path. "Where are you going? Since Michael is going for the mission, there's no need to follow him. If we separate, our chances of survival will reduce drastically. We must stay together to have a chance to survive."

Violet nodded her head in agreement. "We can even form a group and might actually be able to kill a level-1 savage beast also."

Lucifer shook his head. Was it really that simple? Even if the base wasn't monitoring them, Lucifer preferred being alone. It had been that way for the past six months and he wished it to continue like that.

"I don't feel comfortable letting other people do by job, I rather do it myself." Altering his path, he sidestepped and continued following Michael.

This time, Violet's expression showed signs of wavering. Noticing this, Oliver quickly spoke. "It's all false brovado. He will not survive half a day out there."

Lucifer's true aim was to complete the mission of course, but he has other objectives in his mind. His goal was to head towards Hundred Snake Pit and hunt for Venomous snakes.

Although a savage creature, a Venomous Snake had a fragile body and could easily be sliced by a normal machete if stabbed in a vulnerable spot. However, the speed of a Venomous snake was fast that ordinary people couldn't keep up with it.
