What's troubling you, Daisy?

Aaron's pov

After a hectic day of classes and my shift at the restaurant, I am seated on the dinner table with my parents and my sister, Ashlie.

Ashlie is my twin. She's just like me, her eyes are green but they are of a lighter shade, like the hue of the new spring growth. She has brown hair just like me and is two inches shorter than me. She's currently studying medicine.

We are all having a normal conversation about how our day went. We were sharing everything with each other when dad breaks the conversation.

"Ronnie, I have good news for you." He says in his usual fatherly tone.

"What is it, dad?" I ask casually.

"We met Alex this morning, and you will be surprised to know what our conversation was about!" His voice holds excitement and a hint of happiness. I stay silent waiting for him to continue.

"Alex wants Daisy to get married to you. He showed his interest in this alliance and he feels that you're the perfect person for his daughter." Dad answers grinning like a child who received his favorite thing as a present on Christmas while I choke on my food.

"Are you serious dad?" I ask after gaining back my composure.

"Yes, son. We know how much you love her. I think Alex also noticed your love for her, that's why he came to this decision."

Mom pipes in excitedly, "What more would you want, Ronnie? Are you happy?"

"What did you guys answer?" I ask dismissing the question she earlier asked me.

"Obviously, we said yes, Ronnie. Daisy is like our own daughter and I've always wanted you two to marry." My overexcited mother gushes.

"Mmm..hmm, Ronnie! Finally got your love huh!" Ash says teasingly.

I remain silent, processing the piece of information I received while smiling, of course. I wished to marry Daisy, since we were young. I had a crush on her for years now. As years passed we grew so close to each other, I developed feelings for her but I am still unsure about her feelings for me.

Getting married to your love is the best feeling in the world. I've loved her for almost 10 years now and finally having my love is like a blessing to me.

I am so happy with the new development that I couldn't stop smiling. This is what I always wanted and finally when my wish is getting fulfilled, I am happy but there's this feeling within me that something bad is going to happen. And the problem she was talking about the other day when she texted also has me worried. I just hope she is as happy as I am about our wedding. I couldn't wait to see her on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon.

Waking up this morning, I got ready and left for my morning shift at the restaurant. From there, I went to the gym to blow out some heat.

After a heated session of two hours, I came back home and spent some time with Ash playing X-box. Letting her win and seeing that sparkle of joy in her eyes was worth losing to her. But that was just a rare scene because all the other times, I prefer teasing her and listening to her banter.

When my time to meet Daisy was nearing, I decided to take a shower. After the shower, I put on a black button down shirt pairing it with blue denim. Throwing on the sneakers, I take my car keys, wallet and leave my home.

On the way, I stop by a confectionery to pick her favorite dark chocolate. Upon reaching the park, all the old memories flashed before my eyes causing my face to break into a grin.

This is the park, we visited since childhood. Though it changed a lot, still it held so many memories. Memories, I would never want to erase.

I search for Daisy around but when I didn't find her, I decide to wait for her. After finding a bench, I sit down on it, waiting for my best friend to arrive.

On the other side, across from me, are two kids around six years age. The little boy is crying holding his grazed knee while the girl, hands him water, blowing out puffs of air on his injury.

This reminds me of our childhood when we were in the same situation but the roles reversed.

Suddenly, I feel a light tap on my shoulder from behind that brings me out of my reverie. Turning around, I find the woman I have been waiting, standing with a breathtaking smile on her face. The smile, that did things to me.

In front of me is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on. Dressed in her pink crop top that ended up just above her belly button and black jeans, she looks ravishing. Her raven hair are pulled up into a ponytail, a few strands framing her heart-shaped face.

Her almond-shaped chocolate brown orbs are filled with despair like there is some heavyweight looming over her. She is smiling, her pink, plump lips pulled up in a perfect curve but it isn't the one love.

There is something off with her, today. As if she is in a dilemma, in suffering. Seeing that sadness in her eyes, I want to rip off the sadness and fill them with happiness. I want to lay the world in front of her just to see her carefree smile back.

We stand there, staring down into each other's eyes in silence until she decides to break the silence and greets me.

"Hi, Ron." She says in her angelic voice.

"Hi, Lazy Dazy." I greet back pulling her into a hug. She wraps her arms around me tightly, confirming my suspicions.

Pulling back I ask the only question, I needed the answer for.

"What's troubling you, Daisy?"
