Chapter 118: Handsome

Carol flew through the air with a feeling of immense relief, like a bird in a cage that had been freed from its fetters.

While Mike fought the controlled 'her', she herself fought the Supreme Intelligence, in the unseen realm of the mind, and although Mike helped her break free from her control quickly, she had gained a lot in that short time.

She realised that if she wanted to, she could break free of the chains the Supreme Intelligence had set for her and destroy the power inhibitor.

Her power was not given to her by the Kree, but was her own.

If she wanted it, no one could bind her!

The thought of it made her feel so much more exciting.

In the next instant, as Mike resisted the falling missile and pushed it towards the others in mid-air, she, like Mike, resisted a missile and pushed it high into the air.

"Boom!"

Hot rays of fire and photon energy slashed through the air, detonating several missiles before a fierce explosion appeared in the sky like a cloud of fire, and Mike and Carol rushed towards the remaining missiles without hesitation.

Like a series of firecrackers, all the missiles were destroyed as they flew past.

The two passed through the cloud of fire and stopped in mid-air.

Mike said and flew downwards.

With a laugh, Carol looked up at the fleet off the planet and charged.

Mike landed with just over a minute to spare.

Clark stepped out through the cornfield, father and son smiling at each other as they made their way to the doorstep.

"Yoo-hoo!"

"Dad, you were great!"

"Clark, you're so handsome there!"

Charles and Eric cheered as they ran towards the two men.

Mike gave them both a hug and the family looked over at Nick Fury and Talos.

Both suddenly swallowed nervously, especially Nick Fury ...

He had been punched a few times by Mike and was still standing upright, so he would have something to brag about, ah, no, something to show off.

After all, Mike punched Carroll but not him, so rounding up, he's better than Carroll.

Well ... nothing wrong with that!

Nick Fury nodded satisfied.

"Are you okay?"

Mike frowned as he saw Nick Fury staring at him dumbfounded.

He looked like he had recovered from his injuries, but he looked a bit goofy... was he brain damaged?

Nick Fury blinked quickly to regain his wits and said gratefully to Mike, "Thank you for that, I'd be dead now if it wasn't for you."

Talos added in the side.

Mike said, taking the lead and heading home.

He and Clark were still naked.

"So is Carol going to be okay?"

Nick Fury asked, worried.

Mike waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, she's hitting those Kree now the same way she's hitting you, no difference."

Nick Fury sighed in relief, then frowned, he thought that made sense, but he didn't know what was wrong ...

While Mike and Clark changed clothes, Carol finished the fight, bringing good news, or more accurately, a surprise.

She had found Mar-Well's lab ship and flew a small ship back from it.

When the small ship landed, the crowd (Nick Fury and Talos) cheered, but Mike was calm.

The hatch opened and she appeared with a blue cube in her hand, tossing it up and down in front of the crowd, and behind her were two Skrulls, one large and one small.

Talos ran over to them and embraced them in a frenzy.

It was his wife and child.

"Thank you, thank you!"

He expressed his gratitude to Carol with emotion.

Carol smiled and said, "It's them you really care about, not the core I have in my hands, isn't it?"

Talos grinned, picked up his child and kissed his wife gently.

Carol threw the Tesseract at Nick Fury with a casual toss of her hand.

Instead of taking it, Nick Fury quickly picked backwards and hid behind Clark.

There was a silence.

Carol's mouth twitched and she said, "Why didn't you catch it?"

Nick Fury: "Who knows if it's dangerous for you to just throw it over ..."

Mike looked at the Tesseract on the ground, his eyes flickered slightly, then he let out a low laugh.

This thing was a pain in the ass.

"Pick it up!"

Carol stepped off the ship and said, "This is the energy core, but it's your S.H.I.E.L.D.'s stuff."

The Tesseract had been in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession since it had been salvaged by Howard Stark many years ago, until Mar-Vell had arrived to develop the Lightspeed Engine with it, and then it had been in Mar-Vell's lab for years.

"Meow!"

Goose peeked out of the room, his eyes fixed on the glowing Tesseract as if he had seen something interesting, and quickly fled as Nick Fury went to pick it up, resting his little paws on it.

"Goose Goose, go aside."

Nick Fury waved his hand.

Goose stared at Nick Fury menacingly.

Nick Fury knelt down and smiled as he raised his hand to pet Goo, only to see Goose open its mouth at him.

"You'd better stay away from him."

Talos gave a nervous warning.

Nick Fury laughed at Talos and said, "It's just a cat, you're not afraid of ... me!"

No sooner had he said that than he saw Goo's mouth open wide and swallow the Tesseract, then look at him.

Nick Fury took two steps backwards and said to Carol, "Sure enough, this thing is dangerous and will mutate anything it touches."

Carroll was speechless.

Taros smiled and explained, "That's a flerken, not a cat."

"Meow!"

Goose looked at Nick Fury and leaned over with a wag of his tail.

Nick Fury stiffened and squeezed out a smile, saying, "He's not going to scratch my handsome face, is he?"

The corners of the crowd's mouths twitched.

Carol laughed, "By the look of it, it likes you a lot."

Nick Fury bent down and locked eyes with Goose for a couple of seconds, picking him up carefully and sighing with relief when he saw that he had no intention of swallowing him.
