The heat that touched the core of her heart started to heat up even more, the pain started to bring her down to sink into sweat. She could see nothing but darkness in her sights.
Where am I? She thought as she groped what was around her body.
While she was trying to figure out her current position, her fingers accidentally touched something like skin and there was also a protruding part around it.
"What is this?" She muttered while feeling what her fingers touched.
"When you're awake, open your eyes."
A man's deep voice sounded into her ears, enough to make her speechless. But when she realized the voice sounded familiar to her, she slowly tried to wake herself up from the darkness consuming her.
His Voice...
Slowly her eyelids opened, and her sense of sight caught the light shining directly into her eyes.
"Eunghh..." The girl blinked her eyes to match the light in the room.
After managing to open her eyes completely, she could see the wooden roof above her.
"Where am I?" She muttered as she tried to move her legs.
"You are in the healing room."
Surprised to hear a voice from beside her, the girl's face turned quickly as she saw who was replying to her.
"You?" She said after seeing who was sitting beside the bed.
The dark haired man tilted his head the moment his name was called.
"Is your heart still aching?" Clovis asked as he pointed at his heart.
The gray haired girl touched around her chest, gently pressing her heart area. She could feel the pain in her heart after being pressed.
"Not as bad as before." She replied with a grimace.
Clovis sighed softly, "It seems the marking effect hasn't finished yet."
The girl's face lifted to look at the man's face who was thinking about something.
"How did I get here? And how did you know that my heart hurts?"
Clovis's gaze went straight to that girl's amber eyes.
"Don't you remember you just got marked?"
"I don't remember, I just saw a green mist."
Clovis sighed harshly, "I will give you more pain relief potion, Princess Elie."
Elie's face rose after her name was mentioned by Clovis through the man's lips. "You know me?"
Clovis's eyebrows furrowed. "How can I not know you if that boy keeps calling you all this time?"
Elie's amber eyes glanced where Clovis's gaze was directed. Quite shocked by what she saw now, the sleeping face of a boy sleeping on the table with his arm as a pillow.
"Zavei?" Elie whispered.
"Since you fainted, he kept calling your name. He even left the competition after the Emperor announced who the winner was."
"Then who's the winner?" Elie asked with her gaze that kept watching Zavei's face.
Clovis glanced briefly at Elie's gaze that was directed at the boy.
"You," his reply, continued his concoction.
Jolted to know that she was the winner of the archery competition, she didn't think that she would win just because she brought a Paraceratherium.
"You won because you were able to find the God's Bloodline hidden in the forest," Clovis told.
Elie's face looked confused, "Descendants of Gods?"
Clovis turned her body and headed towards the bed on which Elie was sitting.
"The white rabbit you were holding earlier," he replied while giving a glass of concoction.
Elie took the glass that Clovis had given her in her palm. Slowly she drank the potion that the man had made, but a moment later she felt her heartache again.
!
The amber eyed girl kept coughing while holding the glass in her hand. But she was taken aback when someone's palm caught the back of her hand.
"Slowly," Clovis' voice sounded very close to Elie's ear.
But Elie couldn't hold back the pain. She bit her lower lip to muffle her sobs.
"Your heart will continue to ache if you cannot control the manna in your soul core," Clovis said.
Hearing what Clovis said filled her with confusion.
The problem is, I don't know how to control it! Elie thought as she endured the pain that continued to stab her heart.
Unexpectedly, the glass she was holding was taken back by Clovis, and the man placed it on the table.
"Take a deep breath," Clovis straightened the girl's body in front of him by holding her shoulders.
Elie followed Clovis' suggestion, and then she took a deep breath.
"Then, exhale."
Elie exhaled.
"Repeat three more times," Clovis said.
Elie followed Clovis lead, and she took another deep breath, then let it out when she had enough. Clovis lowered his head, looking from under Elie's face.
"Do you feel better?" He asked.
Elie flinched after she had just opened her eyes, and saw Clovis' face from a very close distance.
"I've calmed down," she turned her face away.
Clovis fell silent with his eyes looking at Elie's ears.
"Okay then, you can drink the potion again once you're feeling better." His body got up from the edge of the bed.
Elie watched Clovis's wide back, "Wait, are you leaving?" She asks.
Clovis stops, "I've finished my business."
Swallowing her saliva, Elie spoke. "Can I know your name?" She dared to ask.
Clovis's face slightly turned, "You can call me Clovis, Princess Elie."
Elie gasped, after hearing the tall man's heavy voice.
"Thank you for your help, Mr. Clovis."
Clovis snatched the robe that was lying on the chair. "Glad to hear that, I'll go first."
"Thanks for helping me again, Mr. Clovis!" Elie shouted while putting on a smile.
Without turning his head, Clovis replied, "It was a pleasure helping you."
Even without seeing what expression Clovis had, Elie's face was already beaming with a smile still on.
"Mr. Clovis is nice." Elie complimented how Clovis treated her.
Cough-
Elie flinched in surprise when she heard a coughing sound from beside her. But her face didn't dare to turn around, after all, the one looking at her now was Zavei, her little brother.
"You seem to like him, don't you Elie?"
She took a deep gulp. Elie turned her face to the glass that was lying on the bedside table.
"I'm not."
There was a mocking chuckle from Zavei which made Elie furious. "Is it true that you don't like him? During the competition earlier, a lot of people were talking about him."
"What are they talking about?"
Zavei was taken aback as Elie's face turned quickly to his, even with a curious expression.
"I can't believe you like him," Zavei put on an expression of disbelief.
Elie closed her eyes, trying to hold back her rage. "You're joking with me, don't you, Zavei?"
Zavei smiled slyly, "Are you sure you can stand liking him?" He asked.
Elie's amber eyes stared at the blanket that covered her feet. "What's wrong with liking him?" She put on a somber face.
Zavei glanced at the wall display. "That's not it, but what I heard is that he is the Son of the Emperor."
Looks like she's digesting Zavei's words. After realizing what her little brother had said, Elie threw the blanket off her feet.
"The Emperor's son?" She asked with a look of complete surprise.
"You're right, he is the Emperor's only son." Zavei turned to Elie.
Elie seemed to be holding back her surprise, but her expression couldn't lie when Zavei saw her.
"It seems that I have no hope," Elie put on a somber face.
"Not really."
Again and again, Elie was jolted by a voice that suddenly came from the door.
"Nevi?" Elie muttered.
"Why did you give up already, pretty sister?" Nevi walked over to Elie who was already standing beside the bed.
Elie covered her face with her palms, "I'm embarrassed you heard that, Nevi."
Nevi smiled widely, "Sister Elie can get that stone hearted man!" She exclaimed excitedly.
Elie peeked at Nevi's small body between her fingers. "I didn't think about approaching Mr. Clovis."
Hearing Elie's reply made Nevi make an annoyed look.
"Sister can't give up, sister will be with Brother Clovis."
Elie sighed softly. Slowly her knees dropped, bent over the wooden floor, and faced Nevi who was shorter than her.
"Did you expect me to be close to Mr. Clovis?"
Nevi nodded. "I expected it!" She replied enthusiastically.
Elie smiled at the excited face of the little girl in front of her.
"I'm no match for him," she replied softly.
"How are you feeling now, Princess Elie?"
The atmosphere is calming and refreshing in the garden directly facing the castle, and also accompanied by a cup of tea that has been provided on the table. With two people sitting opposite each other, talking while enjoying a cup of tea and the atmosphere in the garden.
"I'm much better now, Your Highness."
Carlex who was sipping his tea smiled behind his cup.
"How about Clovis coming to help you today?" He asked as he put his teacup down.
Elie smiled awkwardly, "Mr. Clovis was really good when taking care of me."
Hearing Elie's response made him smile. "I'm glad to hear that that kid can take good care of someone after his return."
Elie glanced at the face of the Emperor who was enjoying the garden view.
"Sorry, Your Highness. May I ask a question?"
Carlex turned his head. "Whatever you want to ask, I will answer."
Elie fiddled with her fingers, "Is Mr. Clovis also a Dragon?" She asked nervously.
Hearing Elie's question made Carlex's gaze shift to his teacup.
"You're right, he's a Dragon."
Elie smiled in relief. "Finally, my curiosity has been answered."
Carlex's red eyes stared at Elie's gray mane. "Are you okay after finding out he's a Dragon?" He asked.
At least he can be a handsome dragon, Elie thought.
Elie smiled warmly, "I just wanted to satisfy my curiosity." She continued
Seeing the smile on Elie's face made Carlex feel calmer.
"To be honest, after Clovis's birth, many nobles rejected his birth."
Hearing the sudden words of her Emperor, Elie straightened up.
After staring at his tea, Carlex spoke again. "Even his mother also refused his presence, this is all my fault."
Elie gasped in surprise to hear that, making her little heart touched by Carlex's words.
"Are you okay telling me about it, Your Highness?" Elie asked nervously.
Carlex chuckled at the nervous look on Elie.
"I feel calm when I talk to you," he replied.
Elie sighed in relief, "I feel uneasy when it concerns your family, Your Highness."
Carlex rested his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his palms.
"Would you like to get to know him better, Elie?"
The sudden question from Carlex made Elie's fingers freeze on the rim of the teacup. Elie's face lifted, seeing the expression that the Emperor had on.
Her face looked down again, her lips let out a sarcastic smirk. "I am no match for Mr. Clovis."
Carlex tilted his head, "Is Clovis just not your type?" He asked curiously.
They both really look alike. Elie restrained herself.
Elie cleared her throat. "It's not like that, Your Highness," she replied.
"Then why? What makes you not want to?" He asked back.
"If you look closely, I'm still too young to have a relationship with someone. Moreover, Mr. Clovis doesn't necessarily want to have a relationship with me, Your Highness."
"Who said I don't want to?"
A startling voice came from behind Elie. The girl swallowed hard, she couldn't believe the voice came at the wrong time.
"You here, Clovis," Carlex's eyes glanced briefly at Elie's face.
It seems that there are feelings that are buried, Carlex thought after noticing Elie's cheeks turning red.
Clovis glanced at the gray mane who did not turn to look at him.
"Good morning, Father." His long legs walked towards the table which was in the middle of the garden.
"Good morning to you too, Princess Elie," he turned his face from behind Elie.
Of course, this made Elie gasp in surprise when she saw Clovis's face, which was very close to hers.
"Good morning, Son of the Emperor." She replied while lowering her face.
Seeing the reply of the girl beside him made Clovis' flat face not change one bit. But it's different from a man who realizes the different gaze of his son.
"Did I miss something?" Carlex muttered while scratching his chin.
"Sit down, Clovis." The Emperor pulled up a chair beside him.
Meanwhile, Clovis only glanced at the chair beside Carlex, and he preferred a seat that was a little far from Carlex.
"Thank you, Father."
In contrast to Carlex who put on a bitter smile. "Am I forgotten?"
"Okay, since Clovis has heard our conversation. What do you think, Clovis?" Carlex's eyes glanced at his son's face.
Clovis, who heard it, only put on a straight face while sipping his tea, making the two people who were sitting with him feel nervous. After placing his cup onto the tea saucer, Clovis glanced at the vase in the middle of the table.
"I'm just following what you suggest, Father." He replied without paying any attention.
Carlex sighed, "You are almost 20 years old, you are old enough to talk about this."
20 years old?! Elie thought to herself with a shocked face.
Carlex glanced at Elie's face who was already staring at Clovis with surprise on her face.
"Did you just find out his age, Elie?" He asked with a flat face.
Hearing Carlex's question made her head nod.
Clovis turned to Elie. "How old are you?"
Elie counted her fingers, then showed 1 finger and 6 fingers.
"I just turned 16 this year."
Not only Clovis, but Carlex was also surprised to hear Elie's reply about that girl's age.
"I thought you were 17, Elie." Carlex covered his mouth.
Elie scratched the back of her neck. "Do I look that old?" She asked confused.
Clovis suppressed a smile, "Only 4 years difference, not a problem for me."
Not only Elie, but Carlex was also much more surprised by his son's response.
I'm going crazy after this. Elie cursed herself.
